Just come back from a weekend at Fallbarrow. They have reduced the number of touring pitches to make way for a superb children's play area and outside football court/basketball court, it is a safe area enclosed with railings and bark chippings on the floor, it caters for all ages of children and ours loved the swing
Excellent site, clean toilets, great location, nice quiet bar area, shop, deli cafe, within walking distance of Bowness which has lots of shops/cafes/bars/chippies and boat trips on Windermere.
Pitches are hardstanding, all service and have gravel for awning and some grassy area, they are private with hedges separating each pitch. Some can be a tight squeeze to get into if you have a large twin axle.
Love this site, its one of our favourites and we will be returning in 2011. They had fireworks at their sister site White Cross Bay, would have been nice to have something on this site, however, there were lots of fireworks going off over the Lake so didn't really need to venture too far.

Back again after 5 years, pretty much the same as before, all fully serviced pitches, toilet and showers clean but could be better. The site is well situated for the lakes as well as being in Bowness, only a few minutes walk from the shops, boating pier, the pubs and restaurants in Bowness. Since we last stayed here they have taken away a row of touring pitches and replaced them with statics. There is a pub on site but it does not get used very much, we called in twice during our stay and there was not many people in even though there was a singer on the Saturday night. I only use the site because it allows dogs on and it is handy for us when visiting the area but I must admit it is not one of my favourites

Stayed 3 nights in mid-week in August. Mainly a site of park homes & lodges but has excellent facilities for tourers. Pitches large with hardstanding and grass, bounded by hedges.Paid £34 pn for super service pitch: water, grey water disposal and TV booster Large site but extremely friendly welcome. Exceptionally well managed and clean
On lake shore of Windermere with private jetties. Wonderful setting with memorable sunset over the Lake
Less than 5 minutes walk into Bowness - very busy but much quieter in the evenings
Location makes cost worth it

This is a well situated site and very well maintained. However, the showers could be better and it would have been nice to have had a hot one, although the wife said hers was. When I finally complained the staff took it rather personally and were a little unpleasant, Oh well. In general a good site but not one I would rush to re-visit.The dog walk has much to be desired too. I got the feeling they would rather have statics only. To say it was the most expensive site I have ever been on, I was left a little disappointed.

We didn't really enjoy this site, but it does have an excellent location. It's just too commercial for our tastes and too expensive. The bar meal was very poor but everyone was friendly.
One problem was that at night, we could not see the very small door entry buttons to gain access to the toilets and this appeared to be a problem for everyone. Even with a torch, the small buttons made it difficult to enter the code number.
Finding the chemical closet was challenging! Some toilets were out of action and overall we felt that this site was poor value and trading on its location.

Excellent site for visiting Bowness. Priority very much on lodges nowadays. Another ten touring pitches to be lost next season so emphasis shall very much be, book well in advance.
Meals in bar leaves much to be desired, the Albert along the road serves superb food.
The toilets in the touring area are lovely, though the cleanliness is suspect. The toilets at the front of the site are immaculate!
All said a very enjoyable stay and good for local services, including bus and train.

Excellent site. Full amenities, exceptionally clean in all respects. Good location within minutes walk of Bowness and Lake. Totally agree with other reviews.
One small point - regards to the Motorhome waste disposal - location within park could be better and the manhole cover - what is that made out of! Extremely heavy and awkward to close after use. I had to moan about something!
This site well recommended.

Stayed on this site over the bank hol weekend, it was our first time on the site and what can I say?? It is a fantastic location, the pitches are big and all service with private hedges around.
The facilities were immaculate and the pub on site was nice, there's a deli cafe which looked lovely but didn't eat there and a small shop which wasn't overpriced. The lake is seconds away from the pitches.
There is also security on at night and they have a strict no noise policy from 10.30 which is adhered to. The staff are friendly and its one of our top ten sites that we have stayed on in the last four years.
Only negative I could say is they don't have a late stay tariff and charge a full nights fee if you want to stay on your pitch after 12noon, I don't mind paying a charge for staying later but not a nights fee. This wouldn't put me off going to this wonderful site it is wonderful!

The site has a great position near the town and lake, although the price does reflect this, we paid £50 for two nights in the week. All pitches were good, we had mains water. Lake a only 1 min walk.
The only bad point and unfortunately this ruined our stay was the noise at night. The van next door decided to have a party until 3 in the morning with very load music. We did call the night staff but in the end had to go around ourselves.
Not what you want for a relaxing stay. The site staff did say this was very unusual but I would like to see a zero noise tolerance after 12 before we booked again

Fallbarrow is a fantastic site that is right on the edge of Lake Windermere.
The pitches were a reasonable size and you felt secluded by the boundary hedges.
Each pitch had all the facilities you needed (water, electric, booster aerial, grey and chemical waste) this we found a real bonus.
The toilets and showers were clean and warm.
Ideally situated for a short walk to the lovely town of Bowness.
I would not hesitate to recommend this site and would definitely return.
