We have visited this site for many years now both as a family run site and since South Lakeland Holidays have owned it. This is one of the most beautiful sites we have visited and with the best facilities by far for touring caravans. The pitches are both private and spacious and have water/drainage facilities on every touring pitch. The site (including toilets) is very well kept however just not quite to the same standard as when it was a family run business. It is a more expensive site to visit however well worth the extra money. We haven't been here since August 2006 because of a one dog per pitch policy which has now been relaxed to two dogs per pitch. Charge for taking your dog(s) with you is expensive however, hopefully this will deter irresponsible dog owners who fail to clean up after their dog. The only worry I have with this site is that South Lakeland seem to be squeezing lodges into every square inch of the park that they can and it would be a shame if they did away with what is one of the best touring areas that myself and many others have visited to facilitate further lodges.

Just arrived home after spending a week at Fallbarrow. We were well impressed with the size of the full service pitches which provided more privacy between caravans by hedging. Sited on the banks of Windermere with stunning views across the lake.
Toilets and showers were spotless with plenty of hotwater. Huge rubbish bins strategically placed out of site and emptied daily. Not a scrap of litter to be seen anywhere.
Didn't go into the club or take away, but looked OK.
Plenty of space for the kids to let off steam at the childrens play area with swings, climbing frame etc, large field to run around on and football pitch all sited safely away from any passing cars. Sadly I never saw any children playing there, they preferred to disrupt other peoples peace playing in front of the caravans. Ofcourse this could have been because whilst I took my dog on a lead to the dog field many chose to use the childrens area to exercise their dogs off the lead.
The site is ideally situated within 5 minutes walk of the town with pubs, cafes and a Tesco Express - very handy. Camp shop also well stocked.
Be warned - take your old telly along. The aerial they provide will only pick-up a signal for 'analogue' TV. We weren't able to pick up a signal at all on my computer.
Overall, we'd go again, very nice site.

Much building work going on at the time of our visit - loads of wooden chalets being put up so if you've stayed here in the past you may find it has changed (and probably not for the better). Static caravans have the lakeside views. The touring area is close to the on-site bar/shop so there is some noise from people coming and going at night. Two toilet blocks, quite small but warm and clean with code entry system.

We have stayed at this campsite many times. Before the previous owners purchased the chain of South Lakeland Parks we found that as always a family run buisness it was fantastic. Not to say that it is not now just the little touches of customer service were wonderful.
This site is a model caravan site with a great layout for tourers with privacy hedgerows between each pitch. The services you get with each pitch are also 1st class.
The location of this site with its close proximity to Bowness on Windermere is also a bonus. You can leave your van and be in a pub in the village in 5 mins.
When approaching the site I recomend that you drive down to the roundabout and turn left towards Bowness rather than try and negotiate the tight roads of Windermere with your van or motorhome.
The shop on the site is also very well stocked.
The gripes I have with the site is the cost it is expensive but then they add on extras at every oportunity they can, like charging for a dog, an awning, a further car if friends or family drop in for a day.
But I have to add for all these charges the site is wonderful I have been many times and will continue to do so.
If you are going to the south lakes this is the site for you but ensure you book well in advance as it is very popular.

Not long back from a week at this campsite. We had a fully serviced pitch. I must admit other campsites should visit this site and see what a good fully serviced pitch is supposed to be. An expensive campsite but good pitch facilities. Great location for walking into town as its expensive to park the car in this area and when camping here you can forget the car and walk everywhere. Disappointed at the lack of a mop and bucket or a squeegy in the toilet and shower blocks as I used a dirty shower every morning and also left one for the next person so not good. Not a kiddy friendly site either. We took the kids bikes and noticed that there was no cycling or games to be played in the park so it was a bit of a bummer. Swing Park for kids to play. Spoke to staff and they said about security and traffic etc but the worst speeders on the campsit were the groundstaff. A good site for couples and older kids and a beautiful area to explore.

THIS SITE IS FIRST CLASS AND WELL WORTH ITS 5 STARS, we have just got back from having a great stay at fallbarrow, we were supposed to stay at whitecross bay (sister park) but changed to fallbarrow shortly before our trip, we made a very good move changing as I spoke to a few people at fallbarrow who have stayed on both and they tell me fallbarrow is far in front, just round the corner from bowness-on-windermere,you can get there on foot in 3 mins. The touring pitches are all large private hard standing, with your own water tap,tv areal point, waste drain, EH point and a low light. The touring pitches are away from the road and only a short stroll through the statics to the lake, infact you could see the lake from our pitch. Toilets and showers are very clean and warm, the showers in the ladies were like power showers and lovely and warm, you can all so make use of the hair dryers. There is a large basin for little kids who dont like showers in the blocks near reception. This came in handy for me as I was able to put my little girl in there with no tears then enjoy a shower myself. The kids park was very good my little girl loved it, its also big enough for ball games, the shop has everything you need but I found it a little pricey. Great food and lager are served in the bar, the staff were very friendly and great to get on with. There is also a takeaway but we did'nt use it. I give this site, staff, facilities and location 10 out 0f 10. Its so good we are looking forward to november as this is when they are taking bookings for next year, WELL WORTH A VISIT.

We just came back from a great night away at Fallbarrow. This was our first trip in our campervan after years of being under canvas. The site is lovely, each pitch is surrounded be hedges so lots of privacy. We were amazed at all the birds who were hopping round the campervan too. The beautiful birdsong was very relaxing. All the usual hook-up facilities you would expect. Toilets/showers v. Good. The club house was immaculate, and the man behind the bar was very friendly and helpful. The club house is open until 1am. In fact all the staff were very helpful. When we turned up we couldn't get power to our van from the hookup. We had checked the van was OK at home the night before so thought it would be the EH. When the maintenance men came they found it was our cable (bought new from Argos 2 days earlier). It wasn't wired in at either end and they totally rewired it for us. Another thing to mention is that they have sent us a letter with a 10% discount for our future bookings. So I can recommend Fallbarrow as a great place to stay, next to the Lake but only 5 mins (max) walk from the bustle of Bowness.

First weekend away this year, so we decided to go for Fallbarrow. It was a little more expensive than other sites around Windermere but we decided to give it ago.
Positives The site is very picture postcard, with the site stretching to the edge of lake Windermere itself. Each pitch comes with its own Waste disposal water and TV Ariel point. ( which you need as reception is poor ). They are also plenty big enough to accept an awning plus your vehicle .
The showers were immaculate together with the toilet facilities they even had music piped into the shower blocks. The club house is also very well presented and they welcome families also

A very nice site very close to Bowness, about 5 mins walk at the most. The pitches are well laid out with their own water and waste points,as well as tv points. Though having to park in front of the pitches can cause some problems reversing in. On the negative side the second toilet block was closed for 3 days due to drainage problems, causing the only other block to be very busy in the mornings. This was also the case when we visited the site in March! So not good enough.

The club house is also very well presented and they welcome families also ( great as I have 2 small girls.) Negatives. The bar is very large an able to cater for a large group of people, however there was only one barstaff on all night and this girl was also responsible for serving food also. This brings me onto my next point, the food served in the onsite bar and takeaway was absolutely shocking it was awful. Now I am probably the same as any other when it comes to complaining I tend not to bother and just decide not to eat there again. However the food was so bad I had to tell the staff at the Bar. We were then made to feel really uncomfortable as the bar Girl told everyone who came to the bar what we had complained about VERY LOUDLY, only later did we realise that the people she told was the groundsman the receptionist and the bar manager, who laughed loudly. The incident tainted what is a very very pretty site that has excellent facilities. I would go back again but wouldnt eat in the bar.
