A lovely campsite, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and despite being in a tent the slope was no problem. The site manager Jimmy and the rest of the staff were extremely helpful and friendly and kept the site and facilities immaculate. There is a problem with hot water and the number of showers, although the problem seems to have been partially resolved by the installation of electric showers.
In my experience complaining about facilities at Camping and Caravan Club sites appears to fall on deaf ears!
Oldbury Hill definitely gets a thumbs up from us, great site, beautiful location and excellent staff. Look forward to a return visit!

My wife and I spent a few days at Oldbury Hill as part of a tour. We have a small tent and don't require electric. This was our 3rd visit to the site. We have been members of the CCC for several years.
The assistant manager was extremely helpful and accommodating.
Over the years we have been visiting, the facilities have been the same. One previous manager closed the 2nd shower blocks during the week leaving only one for each sex!? The boiler supplying the main block has always been inadequate, this time we too suffered from freezing water! The answer seems to be - shower before 07. 30 or the hot water runs out.
The weekend saw the arrival of two separate groups of families with hundreds of feral children who seemed to scream incessantly and run around the site. The tents were erected around central gazebos where the adults spent the time drinking and smoking, completely ignoring the children except when joining them for football and cricket matches. (What about the 6m rule and aren't ball games banned on site?)
This could be a great site if the Directors of the club were to put money into improvement.

This is a lovely site and the wardens really make it! They are very helpful and knowledgeable, especially Jimmy!
The site is sloping, but we were at the top of the field, with a hookup and near to the showers etc, so the slope didn't bother us. The site is lovely and clean, with a small children's play area, and a shop that sells the basics. The surrounding area is ancient woodland with some lovely walks, our dog absolutely loved it.
The only minor problem is there are only a couple of showers, 2 ladies and 2 gents, but the ladies also had a couple of cubicles with wash basins, apparently the mens didn't have cubicles only 2 showers. The first morning I found a shower empty, but the water was freezing (not even tepid) it was just cold water.
Had quite a wait for the other one but the water was hot! Husband was not so lucky - he got halfway through showering then the electrics went and the water cut out. He had to go out to the communal area to try and rinse the soap off. He told the wardens who were trying to get it sorted, as everyone seemed to think the gents 2 showers just couldn't cope with the demand on that particular morning.
Having said that all of that the showers and toilets are very clean. All facilities are closed from 10.30am -12.00 for cleaning. There are also laundry facilities, with a washing machine and dryer, you can purchase soap tablets from the shop.
The wardens are always busy - emptying bins, tidying up etc, but are always ready to stop for a natter.
Its lovely and quiet at night, as you would expect from a Camping and Caravan site, that's why we picked it.

We have just returned home from a 3 night visit to this lovely site.
It is incredibly peaceful (except for the amazing dawn chorus) and surrounded by beautiful ancient woodland (National Trust owned) which our two dogs made the most of, they really were in their element. It has a basic but adequate children's play area which suited our two girls (aged 3 and 11).
The site itself is wonderfully well kept and we have never been so well looked after by site staff. They came out to help level our van armed with chocks and a spirit level and had us level on what is a fairly sloping site within 5 minutes.
The site itself is great but the wardens made our stay fantastic (despite our dogs barking at theirs) even arriving with an emergency bottle of wine and beer after our late and somewhat stressed arrival. (Thank you Tracey).
The facilities are spotlessly clean and more than adequate with two showers for the ladies and one for the gents. Although ensure you are early for your morning shower as the hot water runs out really quickly.
There is a good pub (Crown Point) a leisurely 15 minute walk away and they do a good, reasonably priced Sunday carvery. It is child friendly and dogs are allowed in the lounge area.
We look forward to our next visit.

Spent a great weekend at this site. The toilet block is spotless the managers were very friendly and welcoming. The area is great and there are lots of lovely walks around the site. The only downsides were the slope of the pitch, and the neighbouring farmers automatic scarecrow going off from 5.45am, I expected to be woken by the dawn chorus not gun shots!

We visited for a weekend in August and this has been the best site so far, so much so we joined the Camping & Caravan Club immediately!
A warm and helpful welcome by wardens/site staff who showed us where to pitch and found a corner pitch for us as we had a campervan and small caravan and even near to the small play area for our children. We were amazed that as our pitch was on a slight slope the staff even provided numbered levelling chocs and got us all set up; even checked the caravan was straight with a spirit level!
The site itself is stunning in a natural, unspoilt way. Whilst the site has plenty of hookups, they didn't dominate the field and the shower block and facilities are nicely tucked into the forest so the views are not compromised. The site is off down a lane and there is no noise at all from any roads, even though the A25 is relatively nearby, probably due to the thick ancient woodland that surrounds the site. Incidentally, the forest has walks and bridle paths so great to explore and it is all protected by the National Trust and local council. There is a huge range of wildlife - even saw Dragonflies darting around.
In terms of the facilities, very clean indeed, remember, this is a campsite and not a hotel! There was not really a shop to speak of but plenty of local shops nearby and supermarkets within a mile or two which the Wardens easily directed us to; also a very nice pub up the road and a couple of camping shops within a mile or two. The Wardens made regular walks around the site to ensure we (& everyone else) were okay during our stay which was great - they really seemed to take an interest in us enjoying our stay and were very friendly and helpful.
This is an ideal site if you want to enjoy a bit of nature and beautiful surroundings and a warm welcome is assured. Top marks all round. Excellent!

We spent a pleasant week at this Camping and Caravanning Club site at the end of July 2010. The site managers are very friendly and helpful, and they even helped level us our van, the first time this has ever happened to us! The site slopes quite steeply, so it was a bit of a challenge, but we ended up very comfortably sited.
We chose the location because of its proximity to good walking country. And we were delighted that there are walks in Oldbury literally from the gate of the site, which take you into the depths of the woods. Perfect for our dog. Also nearby is Ightham Mote (within walking distance), Knole Park and Old Soar, for lovers of the National Trust. We like exploring country parks, and spent a day at Trosley Country Park up on Wrotham Hill, and another at Manor Park near West Malling.
The toilet block is right up the top of the hill and quite a walk from where we chose to be. Also, there are only two showers for women which given there are 60 pitches could be a bit few. However I didn't have to wait and there is plenty of hot water. Everything is very clean and tidy.
There is the Ightham Farm shop at the top of Styants Bottom Road (on the A25) which has quite a lot of vegetables, Nepicar Farm which sells meat etc. The other side of Borough Green, and extensive shopping in Borough Green (5 minutes away by car) or Sevenoaks (10 minutes). There is also a farm shop selling venison down Styants Bottom.
We did feel the office hours were a bit limited and cleaning times of 10:30 - 12:00 seemed a bit early to us - why not clean early afternoon, when no-one wants to be having a shower? Otherwise, ten out of ten!
It was quite busy at the weekend with lots of children, but not unbearably noisy by any means. There is a small playground area and no-one seemed to object to children riding their bikes around the site up and down the hill.
It would have been nice had there been more information about local walks available in the office. We brought a stack of Oldbury Woods brochures back with us from Manor Park Information Centre and put them in the office for others to help themselves as the office staff had run out of their photocopied leaflets.
We enjoyed our stay very much and will hopefully be back.

We only spent a couple of nights here as a quick break from hectic London. We really loved this site and will definitely return. The owners gave us a very warm welcome (even though we are a couple on two motorcycles!) The site is surrounded by trees and is uncluttered and spacious and the most memorable thing was the peace and quiet and the birdsong in the mornings which was quite magical (although very close to the motorway there was NO sound of traffic whatsoever!) The washrooms were clean and tidy and more than adequate (and tucked away from campers so no noisy washer-uppers for other campers as is the case on many other sites!) The on-site shop provided anything you wanted in a hurry. We give this site 10 out of 10.

A camping and caravanning club site so you expect certain standards, however this site surpassed this. The facilities block was spotless, you could have eaten your dinner off the floor.
Plenty of hot water, there was a problem with the generator but as soon as the problem was reported it was fixed.
We did not used electric hook up this weekend and found the site well lit during the evening. The only draw back was that the ice blocks ran out. This was because the site uses its own ice blocks, which you pay a refundable deposit of £1 per block. The weekend was so hot, and therefore, the demand was high.
The children loved the woods with the rope swings, just over the road from the site. Very peaceful, very friendly. Overall a great weekend and we will be returning.

The woodland setting is beautiful, and ideal for walking our dogs. The site is on a slope but we didn't find this too much of a problem with our tent.
As on our first visit last year, we found the site to be well kept, with facilities always clean and tidy. The site managers Phil and Adele Sutton were pleasant and helpful, and constantly cheerful. They are a credit to the Club. Looking forward to our next visit.
