Wonderful site, having had a terrible camping experience at a neighbouring campsite. Staff were fantastic and very helpful also very pleasant throughout our stay.
Caravan was older but served its purpose nonetheless. Clean site and plenty of space for walking, fishing or just relaxing. Well equipped shop on site and very convenient for visiting spectacular beaches at portholland or caerhayes.
Enclosed open air swimming pool on site with plenty of sun lounges.
Great all round and would definitely recommend.

Lovely large pitches, lots of free showers, although they tended to run cold after a while, plenty of loos (never queued once even though it was a busy weekend. The staff seemed really friendly and the walks around the lakes were lovely.
It may be the new owners already making changes but we were able to freeze our own cool blocks in named bags via the shop (no charge)
I didn't buy any food but it looked good and those of our group that did buy said it was nice - I did pinch 3 chips from a friend's portion and I can vouch for them!

We arrived on site at about midday down the afore mentioned narrow lane( a bit of a problem when a caravan is looking to come the other way!) to find the site open up in front of us.
We visited reception with what is probably my fastest ever check-in, told where our pitch was and given some leaflets which were informative containing information on the site and the local area.
We had pre-booked a pitch in the lower donkey field along with 4 other pitches for relatives, the drive was down a well maintained gravel drive to the edge of the donkey filed which was all grass. This was perfect for us as we were the only ones using that half of the field so the kids had a massive area to play. I found the field had a slight slope to it but once got everything pointing in the right direction to compensate it was fine for the duration. The field had a large commercial bin for waste which had a lid which was handy cos there seemed to be a lot of wasps around, there is also 2 standpipes.
There are a total of 3 toilet/shower blocks on site. I can't comment on all as I only used the ones by the donkey paddock. The gents side comprised of 2 shower cubicles, 3 wc cubicles and four wash stands. The showers are hot and powerful, free and have no time limits on them. The block was kept clean apart from grass being walked in which is to be expected. The only thing that I didn't like was the fact that the water seemed highly chlorinated tot he extent that sometimes the toilet blocks smelt like a swimming pool.
The shop is well stocked and most things reasonably priced with fresh croissants and baked goods baked daily in the morning. Order fresh baked goods by close of shop on previous day. The bar staff were friendly and again prices reasonable, the take away was quite pricey ie £1.75 for a portion of chips and I personally thought the food rubbish.
The site doesn't offer freezer block exchange although there are two chest freezers on site where you can freeze your own and occasionally there are spares for you to use. There is also al small launderette on site, £3 for a wash and generally about 40 - 80p to dry.
The playground our children used was not great, it only had a series of 5 swings in a circle with none for little ones and for the first half the zip wire was not complete. There is a small climbing frame but that was about all in the park by the donkeys.
Although fairly isolated many facilities are available in nearby St Austell ( about 10 min drive), there you will find Asda, Tesco, ATMs and all manner of food outlets. Ther were no pubs nearby so we used the wetherspoons in St Austell for cheap meals out, the food which was great, prices form £3.99 for value meal of ham,egg and chips.
In conclusion, I have visited sites in Cornwall which had better facilities but for central location, friendliness, price and peace and quiet this one is hard to beat.

On arriving at Trencreek (down a very narrow lane) the first thing to hit us was the smell which unfortunately never seemed to go away!
The staff were all very friendly. We were given our hardstanding pitch on the lower field. Unfortunately the pitch was far from level and on the second night we asked to be moved as it became unbearable to sleep on a slope!
The showers and toilets really aren't the best, but we had no problems while we were there, despite it raining a bit. They did get muddy but it would be impossible to keep them clean the whole time. The loos did block up though on the second morning but seemed to be maintained quite quickly. The site was far from busy, despite it being whitsun break, so we couldn't comment on whether there were enough.
Our boys (11 & 8) loved the play areas - there was lots of room to run around. The swings etc they loved - my eldest spun round on the tyre swing so much he was actually quite sick! The games room was unfortunately out of bounds for some reason. There was also football goals up etc. As you could see the play area (which was in the middle of the site) all the kids played out till well after dark!
The pool was empty so our boys had it to themselves. It looked fairly clean and was warm. There was lots of seating for those not going in!
The takeaway we used which was fairly priced and it tasted good. Didn't use the cafe/restaurant but it looked busy.
We wouldn't rush back here as it's not really our cup of tea, but if you like a site with less frills on a farm setting then this could be for you!

Only booked a week before our holiday and we were on the Hayfield which is only opened for the high season, none of the pitches on this field have EHU. Having looked at the other areas after we arrived I think it was actually the nicest field to camp in.
The staff were very friendly, the weather was not good and the ground was very wet, we were given our allocated pitch number as well as a list of other pitches that were free and were told that we could choose the one that would suit us best. Lots of cars (including mine) got stuck in the mud and the staff were very good at helping to get them out again! As a result we had to leave the car a fair distance from the pitch and walk the equipment down.
The showers and toilets were clean every time I used them with a free hairdryer in one of the blocks. I was concerned that there didn't seem to be many showers for the number of pitches but whenever we went there was always one free. There was also a bathroom which incurs a small charge of £1 per adult and 50p per child to use and the laundry room had a small freezer so you could re-freeze your ice packs, there were also some packs that you could borrow which was useful on the days it was too full to get ours in.
The swimming pool was clean, no lifeguard so younger children had to be supervised. The play area was great for the children and was visible from our pitch, loads of space on the field for ball games/kite flying. There is also a tennis court which incurred a fee of £1.50 per hour.
The shop stocked all the basics you might need and Asda, Tesco and Aldi are in St Austell which is only a short drive away.
The bar/restaurant is tiny but the food was good although I felt a little pricey for what was on offer, having said that the Sunday lunch looked like a good deal at £7.95 for 3 courses. You could order takeaways from the restaurant as well.
The children loved the animals, we didn't use the afternoon kids club, but during the high season they have some extra activities 2 or 3 times a week in the evening and mine went to a magic show which they enjoyed.
We had a lovely week despite the weather and have booked to go back again next year (on the Hayfield again).
A good base for exploring Cornwall, loads of places to go - we went to The Eden Project, Flambards Experience, Fowey during Regatta Week to see the Red Arrows and visited Looe and Polperro which were both lovely.

We chose this site by how good it looked on their website which gives you the impression that it deserves it's three star rating. On our arrival we were sadly dissappointed by certain aspects of this site. There wasn't enough toilet shower and laundry facilities for a site of this size and what there was certainly needed updating. There wasn't a proper road or pathway to allow you to get to the pitches or to the toilets etc so if the weather was wet which it was when we were there, the site became very muddy. Due to the muddy conditions the mud got walked into the toilets and showers and the ground became very slippy under foot. Also the bins weren't emptied enough so they started to overflow and the staff only came round and removed enough to allow the bins to shut if the refuse collection wasn't due. The shop on site was bit small which only provided the basic items but this didn't matter much because there's an Asda and a Tesco only a few miles from the site.
On the plus side the site has a good family atmosphere, and good sized play area's for the kids. The pitches are of a decent enough size being able to cope with most sizes of tents and caravans. The staff on site were very friendly and helpful and the bar/restaurant although small provided a relaxing friendly place to spend the evening and the food was good and reasonably priced. The animals on site were also a welcome attraction and there is plenty to do and see in the local area and plenty more within a short car ride. These plus factors along with our son making a lot of new friends stopped us leaving within a few days of our arrival. We did cut our holiday short but that was to do with the weather. We were informed by some of the staff that there are changes due to be made to the site so we will be eager to see what these changes are if any because If the facilities were improved we would return to this site.

Booked very last minute(on the drive down!) but managed to book very easily considering it is August.
The staff very welcoming on arrival, and full of advice to the local area etc.
The pitch we were given turned to be ok (we were on the lower field, adjacent to the smaller play area). But, having said that, we could have been given the option of choosing one the suited us(and the size of our tent!) slightly better as there were lots of empty pitches.
The play areas are good and kept our 3 kids happy, despite the rain! The swimming pool was warm-ish, the chairs and areas surrounding the pool could do with a clean up but apart from that, things were adequate.
The animals were lovely and our children enjoyed petting them - the alpaca's were the favourites.
We did not use the bar/cafe but things looked welcoming.
The only real downside for us were the shower and toilet facilities for those on the lower fields, which were quite poor - Only 2 showers and 3 toilets, which obviously get very busy and dirty, especially when weather is poor. Showers only appeared to be cleaned in the morning, despite what the brochure states.
To be honest this is an odd campsite to me - the camping was ok and we did enjoy our stay, but having stayed at others, such as Budemeadows (Bude!) you realise how much better this site could be. The main thing this campsite needs is more attention to detail. (And another shower block on lower camping field!)

Recently returned from this site with my husband and 3 year old son. We found this site to be good value for money. We paid only £126 for 2 weeks with EHU at the beginning of july which having shopped around is hard to beat.
That said though, I didn't like the pitch we were given. With hindsight I would have had a look around the site before pitching to see if there were any available pitches that would have suited our requirements better. As it happened, we were given a pitch on an obvious slope in a field where the staff lived in their caravans. The only other holidaymakers were in caravans with the odd tent pitching for one or two nights. At night it was pitch black too.
The main field which housed all the facilites though on a slope had areas that were level, perfect for tents. There was a childrens play area in the centre in full view and the atmosphere was far more sociable. Despite it not being fully booked, there were alot more holidaymakers there. At night, there was lighting too.
Enough moaning! The shower rooms were nice and clean. The washing up facilities were adequate with plenty of hot water. The farm animals were lovely. The bar was ok though quite small. The prices were very good and the staff friendly. The swimming pool was used by my son most days and was a good temperature. I do think the patio area needed a clean up though along with the furniture.
The site is situated within reach of a couple of major supermarkets a short drive away in St Austell. There are plenty of beaches and quaint fishing villages nearby too. The Hewas Inn is the nearest pub and is very pleasant.
As stated previously, this site was good value though I doubt we'd return.

Stayed at this site for the fishing and visits to local attractions i.E. Eden Project. The site is well maintained and staff very friendly and helpful. Shop is well stocked. The swimming pool was not open at the time of our visit as it was not high season. We hired a static caravan this time as our car was full of fishing gear! The lakes were full of fish and we had a great time. Will be back in the future perhaps with tent and bigger car.

We visited this site in August and found it an excellent site, in fact it is the best site we have stayed at in Cornwall. The toilets and showers were kept spotlessly clean with plenty of hot water, the pool area was well kept and the water was warm.
Our boys aged 15 and 12 particularly enjoyed this site as there was plenty of older children camping here, probably as a result of the fishing. They enjoyed the parks and the football field and went to the games room in the evening. A lot of sites we have been to in the past seem to have no children older than 10 staying there! I would definitely recommend this site and will be going back next year.
