Lovely site, with the owners really going the extra mile to make the stay magical for the Kids. The owner is so friendly and the children loved her, They had a fabulous time running carefree around the site, making lots of new friends. They loved feeding the chickens, sheep and guinea pigs, collecting eggs from the chickens, and one day we found a special gift from some fairies left by our tent, a beautiful clam shell with a hand written fairy note.

We had scrummy Paella made by the Hidden Hut as we were 'serenaded' by some local sea shanty singers, made wind socks in the barn on a wet and windy morning, and painted our tent onto a giant painting of the campsite. There was a washer and a drier, family shower rooms, hot water, logs but no shop.

To be fair the walk into Portscathough was so lovely I wouldn't of wanted to have missed it! There was a local store there which sold most things. Also in Portscathough a butchers, a post office, and a cafe/restaurant/ice cream kiosk. We loved the little beach by the campsite, but it is tidal. Towan beach was a Stunning 2 mile walk and worth it.

On the last morning they topped it all off with a trailer ride for the kiddies, making sure no one got left out. Which pretty much had the mums and dads all convinced to book in advance for their next stay.

Have just got back from this lovely family run campsite. It is small and friendly and the owners are lovely, making you feel very welcome. There is a field for the children to enjoy playing outside, which had the most beautiful back drop of the sea and cliff tops. During school holidays the children can help with feeding the animals and they run craft type activities/workshops, there is also traditional cornish entertainment, like folk singing, story telling, sea shanty singers and campfire. A wonderful week, despite mixed weather. We have rebooked for two weeks next year, can't wait. Only thing to improve would be to put something in the toilets to dry your hands on.

This is a lovely site with panoramic views of the sea. The site owners are nice and very helpful with a good local knowledge. All the pitches are on grass and there are plenty of EHU pitches. We stayed here for the proximity of the South West Coast Path which is easily accessed from the site. The toilet/shower blocks are kept clean, if a little quirky, with plenty of hot water (soap but no dryers). The washing up area is undercover. I didn’t notice laundry facilities & there isn’t a site shop. There is a pub, a short walk from the pub at the end of the road which serves good food.

There are nice touches to this site, for example, there are a few animals, which are fed at set times during the day, there is also a communal fire pit. There are no lights on the site, so you definitely need a torch, but good for viewing the night sky.

Just back from a weeks stay at Treloan - we were extremely fortunate to stay during one of the best weather weeks of the year!

Firstly the downsides - not many but feel I have to point out. As others have mentioned facilities are basic. There are no hand towels/dryers, and even more surprising to me no hairdryers! As a camper with no electric hookup this poses a bit of an issue - luckily it was hot all week so I was able to let my hair dry outside, however if it had been cold and wet I may have caught pneumonia!

Also there are hardly any lights around the site so night-time trips to the loo were a bit hair raising, especially as we were quite far from the shower blocks.

Myself and my partner never had any issue getting a shower (even though there are only 3 each on a huge site) although we were always up at 7am so missed the rush. On the one occasion my partner went later there was no hot water, and the shower blocks were full of grass trampled in from the fields. Obviously this can't be helped but there were no mops/brushes available for you to clean up before you used the showers.

Having said all this, Treloan is still a great site. It was very busy when we visited with lots of kids but most were respectful and the site was usually quiet by 10pm. Debs was super friendly and had there been any problems I'm sure she would have been a great help.

The main draw for us was how close it was to the coast - a short walk through a field and you're on the coastpath and it's then only a 10 min walk to Portscatho where we spent most of our evenings. There are also hundreds of footpaths and walks right on your doorstep which we took full advantage of.

Yes, you do have to drive quite far if you want to leave the peninsula, however we planned our holiday around the local area so didn't find this an issue - it may be more so if you have kids and need to visit attractions. The King Harry Ferry cuts a huge chunk off journeys but was a little steep at £5 per crossing. St Mawes is also quite close and has ferry links to Falmouth, and some excellent shops and cafes.

There are 2 main pubs close to the site. The Royal Standard is a 5 min walk from the site and has a relaxed atmosphere. Meals were fairly basic but inexpensive.

The Plume of Feathers is a bit further away in Portscatho and again has a fairly basic menu at good prices, but no beer garden and it does get busier with locals in the evenings. We ate at both and had no complaints. There is also a small bistro/cafe in Portscatho (the name escapes me) where we had excellent crab sandwiches, they also serve evening meals although we only went for lunch. A fish and chip van visits the site on a Monday, however they ran out of chips whilst we were still in the queue which was disappointing.

All in all a fantastic holiday - just a few small upgrades which would really improve the site.

Booked this site after reading it was supposed to be one of the top ten in Cornwall.

Facilities are basic. Mens shower area had no basin, mirror or hand drying, so had to queue to use a family shower room.

Washing up area was a joke, and I couldn't get to use the utility room all week as it seemed in constant use.

This could be a wonderful site, if the owner spent some cash, and there must be some to spend, at £25. 20 per night for our tent, it didn't come cheap.

Would we go back? No, found far better sites at far less cost while we were there.

Shop down in the village had a monopoly, and charged accordingly, better to travel the extra couple of miles up the road to the petrol station, which has a shop with it.

Fish and chip van calls at site one night a week. Fish and chips £6. 95!

The Royal Standard pub just up the road, the cook can't, and the bar staff can't add up. Not the best night I've had.

I agree with former comments regarding this site, was there last week, had fantastic weather, site is very basic, but is nice and quiet in the evening, this is even with the site being full on the saturday night.

We have a 4 year old, and a climbing frame, area for smaller children would be a welcome addition.

The toilets were basic and were cleaned but they did get dirty. Everyone I knew was complaining about the lack of a hand dryer or paper towels in the toilet areas. Is it really that hard to add this basic facility? I don't want to be walking out of the bathroom area shaking my hands to dry them, I heard a lot of people making this comment.

The top areas ceilings and corners were cobwebby and quite a few bugs.

The site is great though, and is relaxed, we booked after seeing the site on the 'cornwall' show on itv earlier this year, but feel they were very favourable towards the site.

Nice, but a little expensive, wont be going back until a few basic upgrades are carried out to amenities.

Just back from our second stay at Treloan.

The site has absolutely amazing views and is close to the coastal path and within walking distance to some beautiful beaches. The best beaches are within a 20 minute drive which is a bonus.

Debs is so welcoming and brilliant with kids.

The local shop in Portscatho, Ralph's, is handy as it's open 7-7, 7 days a week but it's very expensive. The butcher in the village, Andy Day is highly recommended and the meat, particularly the sausages & hogs pudding, is amazing.

The facilities are fairly basic but they were cleaned twice a day and there was always hot water, which is the main thing!

My son did love feeding the animals and the only thing missing is a big climbing frame for smaller children. I know there's a playground a few minutes away but it's down a single track road and not safe for a 3 year old to go and play on their own.

We stayed here over the Welsh Easter (different week to England) with children 10 and 6 so the site was very quiet.

Its a basic but lovely site next to the sea lovely views. Facilities always clean though a little cold as no heating. Allowed fires which is always a plus. Tesco deliver to the site which after a 4 hour drive down it was nice not to have to drive out to buy the food. They did arrive 30 mins before their allotted time. Site was windy though we did have gales while there and needed rock pegs to put awning up.

Main draw to this site was the animals however the boys were only given one opportunity to go and feed them despite waiting every day to see if the bell would ring, Though most of the time they were happy to make their own entertainment and loved all the rabbits in the morning. The location is a bit inconvenient if you want to see lots of Cornwall, most things we saw were at least an hours drive. So 2 hours most days spent driving.

Local village has two pubs, and a shop, petrol station on road in is cheaper than most of the surrounding supermarkets and also has a small shop.

Local beaches looked nice, we visited in wellie weather but the boys still enjoyed the beaches, building Dams in the stream etc.

Nice site but expensive not worth the premium for views.

I felt I had to write (and similar to Carey10) would never usually shout about a campsite.

The campsite was wonderful. Yes, it is very much a simplistic campsite, but the atmosphere, staff, facilities and surrounding area were perfect.

The campsite has wonderful pitches with plenty of space around you so as not to feel boxed in. The grounds were well kept and had sufficient amenities. We didn't encounter dirty facilities, and, visiting in the height of the 6 weeks holidays only had to queue once for a shower and that was for all of 5 minutes, maximum. The facilities could perhaps be looking for an update in a few years or so, but the water was hot and there wasn't a draft, even though we too did hit a cold spell (great summer!).

Without even going into details about the space around you generally (sea view at campsite), the open space within the campsite was fabulous - there was a great field to run around in which is where we spent lots of happy playing time.

The owners have animals on site; sheep, chickens, guinea pigs etc and every morning the children of the site would gather to collect eggs and feed the animals. The owners were great with all the children and it was a truly wholesome, wonderful experience.

The atmosphere around the camp is what makes it - rules? Who wants rules when you're camping? I can imagine if there were any 'rowdy' customers that Debs (the owner) would handled this brilliantly. There was no-one acting anything but adult-like when we were there - the children all played together so well, there was a real sense of happiness all around.

Not being a dog walker, I cannot understand about the last comment, but all I can say is I am confident that by the point we had been, the owners would have probably seen that last comment and acted swiftly. There were a few dog walkers on our visit and they, and their owners seemed to be happy! Nothing was too much trouble and the whole site was just a delight.

We will DEFINITELY be going back. There are some campsites I can't even remember the name of - Treloan Coastal Holidays will be imprinted in my mind forever.

Second year at Treloan and although its location remains perfect I felt the place lacked the atmosphere and the attention to detail that we had experienced during our first visit.

Toilets - Smelt even though they looked reasonably clean.

Pitches - Overcrowded and it seemed the owners were happy to cram everyone in, with tents far too close together.

I would return again if the loo's improved and if pitches were more defined so that the beauty of this place could be fully enjoyed
