Just back from another great week at The Ranch lot of new developments this year all for the better, new play park and more touring and static pitches.
The site was its usual high standard of cleanliness and staff very friendly and friendly as always. Showers and toilets immaculate and nice and warm. Weather was very warm so we decided to using the swimming pool which the kids loved.
Cant wait to back for our next break, this site has it all its as fun or relaxing as you want to make it, with one of the best kids play areas on a caravan site.

A little disappointed with this site after having read the rave reviews but maybe things have slowed down and relaxed for the quiet season.
Site is in a quiet countryside location about 20 minute walk from Maybole which offers a few shops for essentials and a couple of watering holes which advertised food which we didn't try but not much else to do or see there however there is an hourly bus service most times in the day to Ayr and also a train station where you can catch the train to Ayr or Stranraer.
Recommend you get out and about and explore on wheels, so much to see and do away from the site. We found ourselves heading down to the famous Turnberry and up the coast over the famous 'Electric Brae', stopping at the traditional seaside resort of Ayr, the promeade at Prestwick and best of all the little fishing port of Dunure with its quaint harbourside pub where you could partake of a drink inside or out.
We parked in Kennedy Park, only £2, where we had a picnic, walked lots, watched gannets, spotted a basking shark at the harbour and picked wild blackberries before heading home
The Ranch had a pretty well kept entrance, we got a friendly welcome but no information was offered about the site, its neighbouring facilities/swimming/wi fi etc. (£2 for 24 hours wi-fi access). Maybe a case of if you don't ask you don't need to know.
Hardstanding pitches with EHU, water point are spacious and all have good views of surrounding hills, fields etc. We were on the top level which in the windy weather we had was very exposed, nothing to shelter you a bit, no shrubs, bushes etc or to give a little privacy from your neighbours.
Toilets/showers were mostly good, loved the constant piped radio station with music and news while going about ones ablutions but hated the push taps and shower buttons so favoured by many sites that seem to stay on for only 30 seconds a time.
Also even though the shower cubicles were spacious the shower soaked nearly everything in sight including clothes hanging on hooks and shoes on floor. Would advise taking a carry bag and putting everything in it to hang up on back of door before having shower.
Toilet blocks on first glance looked very modern and slick but a second look confirmed they seemed a little neglected on the cleanliness side when we arrived at lunchtime but suspect that's due to timing of cleaning. The following morning we were dismayed that the staff were trying to clean the block when people were showering at a popular time between 9 and 10, meaning that by late morning they looked as if they needed tidying again. The mop in bucket left for wiping over floor had seen better days.
A good site for dog walkers as there was a large areas to exercise them on (why is it some dog owners think they are immune and allow their dogs to wander unleashed when advised otherwise)and equally good was the play area for children.
All in all not our worst experience but not our best, would use as a base to explore the area but did not have that relaxing feel that would make us want to stay and chill on site

Just returned after a week in Scotland and have to say 'The Ranch',was by far my most favourite site. We were told to pick a pitch and there was no extra fee for setting up a tent behind our motorhome. Toilet facilities were spotless.
Staff are super friendly and helpful. I felt like we were staying in a little community, they would nod when they passed and staff on site were so happy and helpful.
The exchange between holiday makers means a lot and the the cheerfulness was a reflection of staff of the ranch. One of the best places I have ever stayed at in years of touring. We plan to return to Scotland and will hopefully have enough time to stay for longer this time!

First visit but will certainly return! Excellent roomy pitches surrounded by rose bushes. Very friendly Irish family who own the site which has a really good atmosphere.
Toilet block spotless and showers were some of the best we have used in over 30 years of caravanning. Very wide and a good length so no need for a curtain (a pet hate!).
Very eco friendly as press button shower so no waste of water endeavouring to get it hot. Or fear of it becoming too hot for youngsters. Site immaculately kept.
Children's playground is excellent and I enjoyed a swim in the pool. The owner's son recommended Soutar Johnnie's in Kirkoswald (6 miles away) where we had a lovely and very reasonable meal.

Lovely quiet site, small on site shop, but near maybole to stock up on supplies. Didn't try the swimming pool but the kids park was ideal for small children,
Site was clean facilities spotless. Maybole is near girvan and ayr for a day out. Staff work hard keeping this site clean and tidy
We pitched on the higher level, stunning views of the countryside but was quite windy at times

I am typing this sitting at The Ranch on WiFi, arrived today and have to agree with all the other comments on this site, its one of ayrshires jewels located in a lovely part of the country. Upon arrival we received a very friendly welcome from the reception and was told to choose a empty pitch, we selected one at the far end of the park but was a very short walk to toilet and play area etc.
The pitches are level and hard standing and are covered in a small grey gravel not big horrible chippings. The pitches are very spacious, with the caravan and awning we were still able to park the car lengthways across the front of the van. Each pitch had its own grass area and a lot are divided by floral hedges.
The play areas are great especially the toddlers area its covered in astro turf and has around 12 bikes, cars etc for the toddlers to sit on. The play park has swings, chute zipwire etc. The toilets are one of the best I have come across on a camp site they are immaculate and good powerful showers.
The leisure facilities are ideal, and has a Gym available for a small fee.
I would say the park is very child friendly and has lovely views and a nice peaceful feeling, will definitely be returning again.

Just arrived back, after a few days at The Ranch, which was our first time there and just like Arnie 'I;ll be back'.
My wife and I loved it, even though the weather could have been better. There are plenty of pitches for tourers and there are also a number of statics. Views are tremendous and the site itself is immaculate.
I heard other commenting about the toilets, shower and laundry facilities and can only agree - 1st class and spotless. There is a play area for kiddies and a 5-a-side pitch. You also have a swimming pool and gym available at a very low cost (didn't take the trunks, so didn't take a dip).
Everyone very friendly and eager to make you stay a good one and there is WIFI available to all, for just a nominal charge. Didn't have any children with us, so wouldn't be fair to comment on the child friendliness, but they do have a well equipped children's play area and there seemed to be quite a few smiling faced youngsters on the site.
Although Maybole is a small village, everyone made us welcome in The Cassilis Hotel and after quality controlling their lager and karaoke - I am pleased to announce all is well with both. There is a small shop on site (basics only) and a Coop / Somerfield the town, so you wont go hungry. Ayr is only a short drive away with the beach, shops, pubs, clubs etc, so plenty to do.
If you are looking for somewhere to chill out and relax, I can only recommend The Ranch!

Pitches more sheltered on bottom tier of site. Lovely views. Beach at Maidens recommended. Also Little K's kitchen for superb food. Whole coast is beautiful. Ayr and Irvine good for shopping.
Troon has great beach. No local pubs or restaurants within walking distance. Dont forget to go to the Electric Brae. Site is maintained well and the warden very friendly.

This is overall my most favourite site to visit. The location is excellent with plenty to do nearby and all only a short drive away. Great countryside, woodland and beaches for walking the dog. Pitches are spacious and varied with great views and you can choose your own.
Facilities are clean, modern and comfortable. We have visited a few times, both when it is busy and quiet, and have never had to wait to use showers.
The playpark arrangement for children is just right with facilities to please all ages. The toddlers' area is particularly well thought-out although it is hard to drag them away when dinner is ready!
Would recommend Culzean Castle as a day out. Lots to see and do for all ages and very dog-friendly.
Finally, I always think that the owners / wardens / staff can make or break a place and I can assure you of a warm welcome and to be well looked after here. We will continue to return here again and again.

I can not fault this park. Very clean and tidy, staff very helpful and they work hard to keep place clean. Toilets and showers spotless. Very close to shops and places to visit. As I said it would be very hard to fault this site, most of our neighbours said they have stayed more then once. It also has wifi. The only bad thing we found was poor radio and tv signal
