Wonderful site. Have had caravan here over the Winter season and it has been great.
Site is close to the train station (about 15 minute walk) and there's a bus that passes regularly that goes to Ayr. Maybole itself is a 15-20 minute walk away so easy to pop to the shops even without a car.
Children's playpark is fantastic with the usual swings and slides and also little push along cars and trikes. A new fence around the playpark had just been erected the week before we left. Didn't use the pool but it looked good.
Staff are very friendly and helpful.
Site is constantly being improved and upgraded.
Planning already to take the caravan back for the next Winter season

Great site, friendly staff, good pitches, spotless toilets. Good all-round site. Will be back.T he site is not far from girvan, Ayr, Troon and a visit to Culzen Castle is a must. Just being on the site is relaxing and care free, a nice place to be and not that far away. I would say the only downside is a shop is missing, you do forget things and not everybody has a car.

This site was very disappointing and we felt it did not live up to it's 4 star rating from the Scottish Tourist Board.
Although it had facilities by the caravan for water disposal, this was via a smelly, open pipe. The shower blocks were not as advertised, in terms of them being strewn with toilet paper and paper towels each time we went in during the afternoon / evening. The tops of the dividers between the cubicles overhung with dust.
On the whole, however it is in an attractive place, and the owners are helpful and friendly. It won't, though, be top of our list for a return visit!

Was recommended by a friend to try this site, and was definitely not disappointed.
We were there from Thursday - Sunday, the weather was really bad, rained the whole time, I had read reports that this site suffered from flooding. Rubbish, just a few puddles here and there, the same you get anywhere after days of heavy rain!
The park is spotless, very well maintained, bins emptied regularly, very clean toilets and showers, (probably the best I have been to), with lots of little extras like flowers and the local radio channel being played, which is good to sing along to in the shower.
We chose to pitch at the very end of the park as we have a dog and it was near to the big park they have suitable for walking the dog, it was very windy here, but there was no trees round about for shelter, but that was our choice.
The swimming pool and gym are small and basic, but clean. The changing rooms are a bit tired, but ok. They shop has the necessities you need, and the staff are wonderful. We are even thinking about pitching our caravan here for the winter.

Well what can I say, a corker!
We are new to caravanning and this was only our 4th site but wow it was great. Really friendly owners who are so helpful, we got to pick our pitch and were lucky enough to get one really close to both the two kids play areas and the toilets / showers. There are hedges between each pitch with flowers in them and it gives it a very pretty look plus some additional privacy,
The showers and toilets were fantastic, newly done out, all smelling of pot pourri and lovely smellies with piped music-very plush! There were two huge washers and two dryers, we didn't have washing powder with us and when my hubbie went to the shop / office to buy, we were given some for free!
The kids play areas are great, well kept and ideal for my two little boys. We used the indoor pool once, £5 for the whole family for a whole day(there is 5 of us so great value). Not the biggest pool in the world but again nice and clean.
We didn't have good weather and one thing I must say is I am glad we didn't stay further back as it was very open(although they had better views and were more spaced out). Those pitches were excellent if weather good in my opinion. All pitches also had their own water connection which was great and the CDU was never far.
We went to Troon beach which was great and dog friendly. We had a chinese take away from chinese on main street and an indian from a couple of doors down which were both good although the pizza from the indian takeaway wasn't so good (son's opinion)
We cant wait to return and would recommend it to anyone, very reasonably priced too!

Just returned after 4 nights stay at the Ranch. What a lovely site ! The owners were very helpful and polite, nothing was a bother to them. Site was kept in beautiful condition, spacious pitches with services. Toilet block was immaculate, showers, wash hand basins all spotless. Piped in music was brilliant as well, a nice touch. Lots for the kids to do, playpark with flying fox was a favourite. Small swimming pool 4' deep was available for a small charge and was adequate for keeping them amused whilst it was raining. A short walk into Maybole for supplies, Somerfield, chip shop, chinese, kebabs, etc. As previous reviewers have said there are loads to do in the area. Culzean Castle a bit pricey though. Dunure is a lovely small fishing port, Croy shore was great a swell. We were never stuck for something to do in our short time there. This is one site we will be visiting on a regular basis.

Well it is now 2 years since I submitted my 1st review of the ranch so have things changed??
Yes they have and it is for the better, the site has been expanded by 25 pitches for 2009 and all are gravel hardstandings, basically the lower field has been extended and it almost meets up with the rally field. Most pitches in the new part have water taps at each pitch or at worst you may have to share but mark assures me that he has plenty of adaptors so you can have your own supply, the new pitches don't have their own grey water point but there is 1 in the middle so you don't have to drag your wastemaster far.
In the new part they don't have the pitches planted up yet but that will be done over the year. There is also plans to build another toilet block in that area that will be handy especially for the tenters in the top field as tenters are more than welcome, there is an area for them in the rally field that has been levelled. The site office now has a small shop with bread, milk and essentials in stock and you can pre-order your newspapers
Everything else is as it was on my 1st visit, the loo block is totally spotless, the site very well maintained and extremely disabled friendly. The views are spectacular, the staff couldn't be more helpful, the chippy in maybole is still edible, there is a handy general store at maybole station that is a 5 minute drive or 15 minute walk away
It is very easy to see how the ranch scored so highly in practical caravan magazine's survey as one of scotland's top sites. Cant fault the place one bit

Having just returned from spending the last weekend in February at The Ranch I can only reiterate what previous reviewers have said.
Fabulous little site at the culzean end of the town of Maybole, spotless toilet block(v new) and very level pitches all hardstanding with individulal water and drainage points.
Good fitness facility and swimming pool and very good playpark with flying fox.
Cant wait to go back.

Cant say enough about this family run site and all positive. The owner Thomas and his sons are very helpful. It is in an ideal spot for just about all your needs just a mile from Maybole, a pleasant wee town where you have a couple of supermarkets, a few pleasant pubs and a wonderful Chinese eaterie. Also if you are into walking there is some lovely countryside to go marching around in. There is also some fine old heritage castles and an Abbey to peruse. As I say the site is fab in every way as it has a swimming pool, kids play area, nice clean shower blocks with piped music. Also you have mains water on every pitch.

What a great site. Beautiful spacious fully serviced pitches. Plenty of privacy provided by the hedges dividing each pitch.(lower level) The toilets and showers were excellent. Best shower I've ever had it was really powerful. This is a dogs dream come true. The biggest field in the world to run free in. At no time did I see anyone walking their dog thru the site without it being on a lead. Not a bit of dog poo anywhere.
We will definitely return to The Ranch.
