What can I say! Absolutely fantastic site in every way. Thomas & staff are all extremely helpful. All pitches hardstanding with own water supply which is so much more convenient. Toilet/shower facilities are the best I have seen. We have been for last 4/5 weeks and they have been spotless every time.
Great for kids - toddlers playpark and park for older children. Good site for bicycles too. Swimming pool a huge bonus for kids and very reasonable too. Staff always on duty.
Great open dog walk area which, again, makes such a difference to us.
Going again this weekend and can't wait. I would recommend this site to anyone interested in coming to Ayrshire. Great site and great base too - Culzean Castle just 3 miles along the road, with many other lovely places to visit within 10 mile radius.

We stayed at The Ranch for 5 nights from 15th - 20th Sept 2008 and we had a brilliant time. It was our first time ever caravanning and we arrived in the pouring rain. On arriving at reception we were made to feel very welcome and we were told that we could go and pick our own pitch. We drove up Sycamore Drive and reversed into the first pitch we could find. All pitches are hardstanding, very well drained with lovely views of the countryside. We chose a pitch at the top of the site which was very open (especially to the driving winds!). There are more sheltered pitches below us with hedges separating the pitches and some have their own grassy bit and even a picnic table.
All the pitches seemed to have EHU and water tap and water waste hole which was very handy. No dragging our aquarolls round the site! The chemical waste section was quite close by too so not too far to go.
There is a dog walk on the site which is a large playing field at the top of the site. Dogs are allowed off lead in this bit and it gave my doggy a great run about. The site toilet block / washrooms were fantastic. Brand new, spotless, very clean. There are cubicles with showers in, including a wee seat. Other cubicles have a sink in them and of course there are toilets. The radio plays in the washblock so you can sing along in the shower.
The site is very handy for Maybole - fantastic chinese at Po King. Welltrees Inn - very nice and cheap drinks! The site is just up the road from Culzean Castle and we used to take our doggy a run along the beach at Maidens which was gorgeous.
Definitely recommend this site - as it was our first time caravanning I'm now a bit worried that any other site we go to will not live up to the high standards that this one provided!

Beautiful wee site, Thomas very friendly and helpful helped us in to the pitch as my husband is just getting the hang of reversing caravan.
Toilets and shower areas were very good apart from later on in the afternoon the floor was strewn with toilet paper and paper towels resulting in no paper in cubicles or wash basins.
Pool and gym facilities were a godsend as the kids were occupied for some time whilst it rained and rained (good old Scottish weather)
Friday morning saw my 9year old in tears as she was having a ball and did not want to leave Thomas said I would not be the first to leave the kids and come back for them later needless to say she was promptly put in the car and told to stop her nonsense
Would definitely go back to this site thinking of going down again very soon
Laundry facilities great as cut down on amount of washing when we got home

This is a brill site. Thomas the owner was really nice and welcoming, pitches are hard standing great for having dogs. Toilets are really new and clean, showers are spacious, Thomas is always keeping them clean.
Playground for kids, swimming pool really clean. Maybole 2 mins drive has shops, takeaways everything you need or Ayr town centre is 10 mins away in the car. You must try Wellingtons for a fish supper lovely the best Ive tasted. Dog walk is great can let dog off lead other sites I have been on didnt allow dogs off lead which wasnt any good dogs need to run. Overall I will be booking to go back in a couple of weeks it was great really liked this site.

As others have said - A great Site. It has changed quite a bit since my last visit about 4 years ago.
The Owner was very helpful. We were holidaying with another unit and were able to book two pitches together. He reserved a choice of two locations for us and some other units also travelling in pairs. Very helpful.
The pitches all seem to be pretty level and spacious. The New heated toilet block was excellent.
The Pool is good, but has a fee for tourers to use but at £5 per day or £10 for 3 days, for a family - I felt this was good value.
There was a good playground for the kids, as well as a toddlers playground with loads of plastic sit in cars - excellent. There was also a grass football field.
We took a little run up the coast to Dunure Castle. Lovely ruins in a great grass park - perfect for a picnic.
Only problem I had was trying to keep the new awning up on site - It was a bit windy that weekend and I found my pegs constantly being pulled out the ground.
Would return again.

An excellent site which is extremely well kept and tidy with a very friendly and helpful warden.
The toilet block is new, warm and very spacious and & has piped music. The shower cubicles are quite spacious the only downside is you have to continualy press a button to obtain water which is very annoying especially when you have soap in your eyes but the water pressure made up the that little inconvenience and upside is the toilet block is right in the centre of the touring area.
A major PLUS for us was the water pipe which is available at every pitch and more than one waste water / toilet waste disposal areas so you don't have far to go.
The pitches are all hardcore, level & very spacious & some with bushes dividing the pitches.
There is a small heated pool & gym on site, which we only took a peak at,the pool area was very clean & looked very inviting.
The price of the pitch was excellent value for money.
Overall I would give this site 9.5 rating
I would have given a 10/10 If the dog owners where not allowed to walk with their dogs off their leads no matter how well behaved.
We visited Burns Cottage & would recommend the cafe opposite as the meal & service where excellent. We also paid a visit to Culzean Castle but unfortunately went very late afternoon & where not able to tour the park only the castle.
We are definitely going back to The Ranch again later this year, as we got such a warm welcome from Thomas the owner/warden who couldn't be more obliging.

An excellent site. Well kept and tidy with friendly warden. The toilet block is brand new and exceptional. Piped music, warm and very spacious. The new block is right in the centre of the touring area. There is water available at every pitch and more than one waste water/toilet waste disposal area so everything is near to hand. The park is in the process of expanding and some landscaping work is being carried out in the dog walk area, but this does not affect the existing pitches. The pitches are level and lined with hardcore. Despite the heavy rain which has prevailed for some weeks, the site is well drained and there was no messy mud to contend with. The price of the site was fantastic. Excellent value for money.
There was many facilities here but I didn't visit the small leisure pool or make use of the play park or football field.
In the town of Maybole I could recommend the chinese restaurant Po King but I you should visit the pub called 'WELLTREES'. The Welltrees is the friendliest, cosiest and most welcoming pub I have ever been in. A nice atmosphere in this small bar, but the restaurant is fabulous. We were late in and the waiting staff had finished for the night, but one laid on late rather than let us leave without eating! The food was all home made and tasty. A simple but effective menu. This pub's piece de resistance is the stunning garden area (unfortunately we could not enjoy it fully due to the weather). It is a beautifully landscaped space which has an area for the smokers to enjoy their habit legally and a play area for children and large space for everyone else not to be disturbed by either the children or the smokers!

1st time in the van and I dont think I could have picked a better site for the shakedown. Was given a warm welcome by the site's owner on arrival and shown to my pitch. Pitches are relatively level and on good solid gravel so was quite easy to push the van onto. Water / waste and power all there so no long treks for any of that. All the electrics seemed to be a good standard and rated well. Toilet block; being new you wouldnt expect anything else but it was perfect, spotless clean and loads of hot water, ditto the wash up facility.
Being close to maybole there is shops and takeaways there so not missed on site.
Minor gripe some more lighting on the park wouldnt go amiss as you did need a torch to go to the block after dark but that is minor. Give it 9.5 out of 10 and will use it again for quick weekends away

SUPERB! This is a great four star touring site. First class pitches, location and management. We stayed for four days and liked it so much we are already revisiting very soon. ARRIVAL On arrival we were greeted by the friendly owner/manager who was genuinely welcoming and well organised. Arriving on a Thursday night we had an open choice of pitch and chose one of many on the level area (great for our twin axle). PITCHES I think just about every touring pitch has hard standing, electric, fresh water and grey waste (often called a super pitch). The pitches are well spaced out and many are divided by well maintained hedges and bushes, The site is being expanded and I can understand why. It is ideally located near many tourist attractions in Ayrshire yet relaxing in a rural setting. It is worth mentioning that there are some statics at the same location but these too are well kept and there seems to be an emphasis on developing the touring park which has fantastic further potential. WASHING FACILITIES The pitch we chose was quite near a brand new toilet/shower block nearing completion (after enquiry I expect it will be open in a month or so). The existing toilet block was very clean and well maintained and so the new block will be a real bonus. Being able to hook up water and waste meant you could also choose to shower in the caravan without any hassle. FAMILY FACILITIES The site has a very good swimming pool (a real plus point) and behind this a play park on grass which was very clean and safe. There was also a large field in which ball games could be enjoyed without upsetting anyone. IN SUMMARY We loved it. We have been caravaning for years and seen a lot of variation in attitudes and standards regardless of 'star ratings'. This site is meets our approval and we will definitely be back time and time again.

July 2004 This site is unusual for a Caravan Club one as it's half statics and half touring pitches. It's also unusual in having an on-site swimming pool, gym and sauna and it was those facilities in particular which made it the choice for a weekend away with my 12 year old daughter.
We had a great pitch beside the swimming pool and play areas (which are very good) which was good as we used the pool a couple of times each day. We tended to head into the pool as soon as it opened each day and found this gave us the pool to ourselves for a while (an hour or so). We also visited again just before it closed when it was also pretty quiet. The chap who runs the place was very friendly although you have to concentrate to keep up with his quick-fire Irish accent. On arrival he led us to our pitch using a golf cart which my daughter was pleased to hitch a lift on.
As we were so close to the pool we used the showers there for our stay and found them fine although inevitably the floors do get quite wet during the course of the day.
Culzean Castle is nearby and well worth a visit (the grounds are even better than the castle itself) and there is a nice beach to the west of the park. You can catch a bus from the entrance to the site into Ayr itself and there is plenty to do there including the excellent beach, play areas and amusement arcades and some decent shopping and restaraunts.
