May 2004 We also had mixed feelings about this site. We thought we were going to a small site as the Caravan Club book says it only takes 40 vans. However when we got there there were loads of seasonal pitches (about as many again) and a large static park, where the main shower block was situated, joined onto the site . We were advised to use this as the other showers were situated next to the swimming pool. However, they were quite a trek so after the first couple of times I just used the showers in the swimming pool when the pool was shut ( it was only open on an afternoon) and found them fine, clean and well equipped.
The kids liked the site as there was a large play field just outside our caravan, which they used far more than the play area although that was good too.
The staff were friendly and we really like Ayr, good shops and a lovely clean beach although dogs were allowed on. There was also a fantastic, huge new play park with great equipment for kids of all ages just on the sea front which our kids (9 and 11)spent hours on every visit.
We would definitely go back to the area and would possibly stay at this site again but would probably try to find alternatives first.

Easter 2003 We had mixed feeling about this place. The site itself was immaculate, grass was trimmed and very tidy, spring flowers out. The swimming pool was a nice bonus, the kids play park good, huge dog walk, snooker and gym. However we showered in the caravan for the duration of our stay, the main shower block was in a different area to the touring vans. The shower I used one night had a small worm type creature appear from behind the sealant, and two huge beetles in the drying off compartment, shower controls where outside the shower, shower doors where dreadfull. The showers in the swimming pool building where very dirty and soap scum clung to the bottom of the shower doors. The shower doors where homemade, off the material used for conservatory roofs. On the whole what could be a very good site badly let down, a new toilet block is needed amongst the touring vans, to leave the swimming pool and gym changing to those swimming etc, a bloody good clean and new shower doors. Take a snack for 'Freddie' the Donkey ******BEWARE****** We where shown to our pitch and instructed where to drop the legs. A nice pitch loads of room, each pitch having own water point. On pegging out our awning, one of the pegs went straight in and out the other side of the water main. The pipe is only 4-5" deep. Also beware not to let go of kite at top of hill, husband and dog have never run so fast. A very eventfull stay.
