Chose this site as we could walk into town having looked at one a few miles out of town first. Very pricey - £26 for a tent, 2 people and electric, pitches are all marked out with borders between, in the trees, the ground is sandy/soily though reception do have rock pegs you can borrow for a deposit. The toilet block is good, clean with a swipe card to get in, with washing machines and inside dishwashing area and very warm which was good once the temperature dropped outside. You do get quite a bit of road noise and at times it sounds like the lorries on the A9 are about to come hurtling through the middle of the site, but I would imagine after a night or two you get used to it.
Reception were very helpful and friendly.
Unfortunately, staying in one of the lodges was a very loud party who felt it was ok to sing and shout from 2am til 3. 30am, which woke the whole campsite up. Having read previous reviews, this doesn't appear to be an isolated incident, so maybe something to consider if you are staying here.
For such a high price I would have liked to have seen a warden or some sort of security. All in all I think you are paying for the location of this site, but I would return if in the area again.

What a great friendly campsite. Only grump is the ground. Its solid had I not had help to peg down tent I would have been sleeping in the car.
-I am a solo camper and felt 100% safe.
-Swipe card access into spotless showers, toilets and utility wash. (closed between 12-3 but toilet available in reception.
-Super friendly staff
-5 minute walk from Aviemore centre (tesco, newsagent, camping stores, coffee shops numerous adventure activities, railway)
-Sheltered tent area so weather not a problem
-Dog friendly
-Had a rowdy bunch of campers for 1 night and reported them to reception and they were dealt with straight away
-seems to be a trend nowadays but a bit pricy per night. £20-£26 per night however facilities and staff mean I would happily pay this tariff again

Just returned from a long weekend at the campsite. Yes, it does have good and bad points. But my only two gripes were, the swipe card to get into the facilities building, a keycode would be a lot better. And camping on 'dirt'. I thought I would be pitching on grass, there maybe a couple of grass ones but mostly are on sandy earth. And it gets everywhere.
The Good points are many.
Camping in the forest, location to Aviemore, close to the mountains. In building wash up area, fantastic warm showers, large cubicles. Clean. (ish) wash basins. I believe it is the sand that get everywhere.
I would probably recommend another site to others but the bad points are far outweighed by the good ones.

Booked into this site as others were full. The pitch we were given was very small and down in a dull dip.
When my grandson wanted to us toilet I found that they closed from 12 to 3 for cleaning? To be fair they were clean but 3 hours?? a toilet was available at reception thank goodness.
I asked where I could fill up with water and was shown the ONE tap on site when I took van up to fill up someone had parked their car in front of the door and I couldn't get near the tap reception couldn't help
We moved on and found a pitch at the Glenmore site, nice welcome, lovely site, water taps throughout, clean toilets

Fantastic base for our family skiing trip. The site is lovely, the amenities are spotless and suitable for a winter break. The owners are very helpful providing us with lots of advice and information. We stayed in our camper and awning (2 adults a 5 year old and the dog). Its only a short walk to the shops and lots of local amenities. There is also a lovely Italian Restaurant a stones throw away with an all you can eat buffet - recommended. We we will definitively return.

We went to High Range in the October holidays.
Good points. Spotlessly clean toilets/dishwashing /laundry. All housed in one building. But the bad points were. Nothing to do for the children in the camp. No games room no wifi which is something in this day and age. Nowhere to put your grey dishwater. No place for motorhomes to dump their tanks, which is a bit strange. There is plenty to do at mcdonald resort nearby. And plenty activities in Aviemore just nothing in the camp itself

I would like to say thank you to the owners who really helped us out at the weekend. We had been promised a pitch at another site and was let down.
High range came to our rescue and offered us their 'emergency pitch' which actually suited us as we now have children.
The play park was right outside our tent which was handy. The Italian restaurant on site was very good as usual.
The facilities are very good, warm and clean.
This was our third visit and again no complaints.

We stayed here in August, was busy when we arrived, the guy in reception was friendly and very helpful, lots of local information available.
The pitch for the caravan was flat and mostly gravel.
For £25 a night for 2 adults, 4 children, 2 dogs and awning, with electric included was the cheapest around.
The site is well maintained, but I think the caravans were quite close together so privacy was not really available.
On the caravan part there wasn't really anywhere for the kids to play except on the road, though this wasn't a busy road, it was bit of a worry.
The noise from the A9 was a bit tiresome but we got used to it.
There is an itallian restaurant on site, which seemed packed at all times doing all you can eat for £14 a head.
The shower block was fairly modern and spotlessly clean with free showers, washing machine facilities, £3. 50 I think for a wash and dry. There were also vending machines with food, drink and other items like toothbrushes etc.
The site is well placed for walking into town which has ample shops, restaurants, bars and things to do.
My 5 year old went to the play area with the older children and said it was a bit babyish!
Overall I would return as the price is cheaper than most others.
I would recommend metal ground pegs for your awning and a long cable for your tv aerial.
I would stay again if I was in Aviemore.

The situation of the site is excellent. However the traffic noise from the A9 goes all night. I did not get used to it. The toilet area is OK but I thought that it was time that the shower curtails were replaced. This site has not be upgraded for a long, long time. The pitches for caravans are too close. Cannot get my head around why the toilet blocks are closed for 3 hours daily for cleaning. No other site closes for more than 1 hour in larger shower areas. Would not return as its too basic for me. The water points are too far away and I could not easily empty the waste water as you had to be able to lift the waste water collector. I could not and needed help. It should in my opinion be on the ground.

In my opinion, this caravan park is no more than adequate and is over-priced.
There is only one water point and that is by means of a secure entrance which is operated with a switch card. Chemical toilet and waste water disposal is similarly accessed. Unfortunately, these are reached by means of a fairly steep (though short) incline. Manoeuvring a 40 litre barrel of water back down the slope is not an entirely pleasant experience and may present as a significant obstacle for some.
Access to the toilet and washroom block is also by means of a swipe card which, if you're lucky, opens the door. If you're unlucky, then you have to wait for someone to come with a card that works or wait until someone comes out. My husband had the surreal experience of standing outside the toilet block at 10. 00pm with four other campers waiting for some one to open the door. (Much leg crossing that night!)
The toilet block is closed from 12 mid-day until 3. 00pm. I still don't understand why that should be and is unique in my touring experience. Access to a toilet during this time was possible by using the reception toilet (if no-one else was waiting!). Despite a three hour window for what I presume was for cleaning, only one of the 3 soap dispensers in the ladies' toilets had soap on each of the two days we were on the site.
Although the High Range complex looks well presented and attractive ie the reception area, the chalets, motel, even the tent area, the caravan touring park looks tired and a bit neglected.
Electric hook-ups were conveniently sited and operated without problem
