(Couple - late 40's/early 50's - look for peace, quiet and tranquillity, but with a few mod cons).
Stayed 2 nights - Fri 20/06 to Sun 22/06
Took a 'gamble', as this is the first site that we have visited that didn't have it's own website. Although you only have to look at previous reviews to realise it wasn't much of a gamble!
Booked by 'phone on the Tuesday, for arrival on the Friday. Answered first time. Very easy to talk to. Just checked the size of our tent to ensure we had a suitable pitch allocated, (and we certainly did!) confirmed the price, and made sure we knew the way! (By the way. The pitch price includes EHU. Very reasonable rate, imo, but no option of a lower rate for non-EHU. Not a problem for us, but worth a mention, I thought. )
. And Lo. What an absolute belter of a site! :-)
Small, quite, and as tidy as you could hope to come across. As soon as we turned onto the site, we just knew it would 'do for us', and that we'd be returning!
The owner is extremely welcoming, loves a chat, and evidently hard working too. Grass was immaculate, and so was every hedge, flower bed, tree, bush and shrub. I swear he combs the reeds by the side of the pond too! Oh. We were offered a cuppa too, while we started to set up. :-)
Every pitch rings the small fishing pond in the middle of the site. Very tranquil! It's all grass, and flat, so suitable for all units. Loo blocks are more than good enough, both in standard, cleanliness, and number. 5 individual rooms give you 1 x gents shower room (with shower, WC and wash basin), same for the ladies. Then another room with WC & wash basin for each gender, and finally a small 'kitchen'. 1 x sink/drainer, and a freezer for campers use. Never had to queue once, and never ran out of loo roll, paper towels, or hot water. My only negative for the whole site was that it was a fixed shower head! I can cope with push buttons, but I do like a shower on a hose. For two reasons. You can direct that first blast away from you, for the first few seconds, as it's always cold, and secondly, it makes rinsing the cubicle out a lot easier. It's a personal preference of mine, but I can't bring myself to lower my scores because of it. But thought it worth a mention!
Most folk there seem to like their fishing, and many seem to be returning visitors. To the point where they are welcomed like family! By the time we left, we felt we were amongst friends. We won't be fishing any time soon, (I prefer to watch!) but I can certainly see us becoming returning visitors. If not regulars!
To be fair, the surroundings helped, as we like to get out on our push bikes, and it's very easy and pleasant to cycle to Chapel, from where you can continue to Sutton/Mablethorpe in one direction, or Ingoldmells/Skeggy t'other.
There is a small swing/slide on site, and they do accept families with children, but during our stay, it was all couples, of varying ages, who all seemed content to sit and chill, have a natter, enjoy the fishing, and soak up the whole hospitable and laid back ambience of it all!
We left disappointed. That we couldn't stay longer (what's retiring age nowadays?. Can't bloody wait!) but have returned home relaxed and chilled, and looking forward to getting back here. Before the season is out, and hopefully for many years to come!
Definitely 'our sort of camp site!'
Thanks for having us.

Well, just arrived home after our 2 night stay at IVY LODGE, we are new to this as we only bought the motorhome 2 weeks ago, and what a start, we could not have asked for anywhere better, it had been raining for 3 or 4 days before and we thought being Grass pitches it would be too wet, we arrived and were greeted by Dennis, who said come and look to see what you think, well when we walked through his gate and saw the place WOW!. The little lake is full of fish, which I tried my hand at, first time in 45 years, the grass is kept neat and tidy, the toilets and showers are spotless, it did rain both days we were there, but it has not put us off, there is a bus stop in the village, which we used for a trip to Skegness, and a couple of pubs. We WILL be back. Carol & Steve( the Forest fan)

Arrived back today after spending 3 nights at this great site and all the reviews are right. The pitches are well spaced out and they all look out to the lake that is well stocked with fish, my partner has never fished so well as he has here. The site is kept tidy and the grass is cut short. It is nice and peaceful, apart from the owner, who is always singing and so lively in a morning (only kidding). The toilet block is spotless and there is plenty of space in the shower, there are hooks on the back of the door to hang your clothes and a chair to put your toilet bag and sit on while getting dry. There is plenty of hot water. There is also plenty of soft toilet paper as well. There is a static caravan to rent that looks out on to the lake. There are lights around the site that make is easy to see at night but not too bright to keep you awake. There is a pub and little shop that sells essentials along with home baked bread only 5 minutes walk away. There is a Spa shop about 5 minutes drive away. Chapel St Leonards is only 2 miles away and is a nice walk. Skegness, Ingalmells, Sutton On Sea and Mablethorpe are all a short drive away. The owner is always on hand and nothing is too much trouble he does a great job, he also likes blackberry and apple pie. We will certainly return back here and recommend it to our friends.

After reading all the fantastic reviews here re this site my expectations were high, I was expecting a little piece of heaven on earth, toilets and showers you would be proud to have at home, grass area and grounds well kept and maintained, where the owner would see my every wish granted, walk on water and command the fish in the lake to hook themselves on my rod. And to be honest apart from the owner walking on water that's just what we got ! If its peace and quiet in beautiful surroundings your after, this is the place. The beaches near Sutton on sea have several free parking areas with clean toilets, and the sand stretches for miles, and hardly another person in sight. We have already booked for next year.

Found this site on the UK Campsite website and was impressed by the reviews so rang up to book for the following day. We got the last pitch but didn't have to leave a deposit as he trusted us to turn up. Arrived at lunchtime and was immediately impressed by the the tidiness of the site and the warmth of the welcome. We certainly agree with all the other excellent reviews. We didn't have a cable long enough to reach the hook up so the owner offered to lend us a spare cable he had. All the other people staying there all seemed just as impressed as us. Lots of them return time after time as we will now. The pitches are all well spaced out and the grass is kept short. The toilet block is spotless and there is a kitchen with sink and freezer. The hot water is free and the showers are spacious. There are a number of BBQs to borrow and there are picnic tables available to use. The beach is quite nearby and there are lots of local farm shops and PYO fruit with delicious and cheap produce. Great value too. Overall we had a lovely stay and can't wait to return.

Just returned home after a 4 night stay at Ivy Lodge.
What a fantastic site! The owner is a real gent always on hand to have a chat or give assistance if needed and the site is not only immaculate, but also excellent value for money. With only a limited number of pitches I was going to keep this to myself, but as I am not a selfish person I know I have to share.
The toilet block is spotless with 2 ladies and 2 gents loo's with a shower in 1 of each ladies and gents. The hot water is always on and the push button showers are easy to use without the water getting too hot for the little ones. There is a kitchenette that you can use to wash up with the use of a freezer for the essential ice packs if you haven't got the use of a power fridge/coolbox or hook-up. The site is secluded and not visible from the road, which is great. The owner at the time of writing this is also making Bacon & Sausage baps to order, within reasonable times of course! and they are lovely.
I will be returning here with the family for a longer stay next time round, and will try to get a trip in before the season closes at Ivy Lodge.
The site is within easy commute to Skegness or Mablethorpe and you can also use public transport if you didn't want to drive. The owner gave me a few little tips for places to visit and these made the day for the little ones. Along with the adults too when we went to Farmer Browns, ice cream shop. This was delicious.
The pitches themselves were very well kept with hedges and trees to protect against the wind. All have electric hook-up and as already stated the site is immaculate. The owner also encourages recycling at the site.
We really enjoyed our stay at Ivy Lodge and I cannot praise it enough, if I could give it 11 out of 10 I would, It is a must go to site!.

Excellent visit to Ivy Lodge, went for two nights last week. Read all the previous reviews and they were all positive, totally agree! The site is immaculate, showers and toilets great! The owner was always on hand if needed and very friendly, will definitely be revisiting! The fishing was also good, we had some good catches! The sun even stayed out! Local pub is only half mile walk and food, two for a tenner! Landlord friendly.
Thanks!

We have just returned from a 4 night stay at Ivy lodge and have already booked to stay again in 3 weeks time for another 4 night stay. That is how fantastic this site is. The site is a small site
With a fishing lake in the middle. A relaxing atmosphere with lots of regulars who are all friendly and love a chat. The owner is a true Gent always doing work on the site mowing the grass keeping the toilet and shower blocks spotless, but we loved the fact he would come and have a chat and spend some of his valuable time to make sure everything was all ok, and he is a one man tourist information centre. There is lots to do in the surrounding area not far from skegness, mablethorpe and chapel st leonards. There is a local butchers who does the best homemade steak pies and a local bakers shop and a pub all within walking distance of the camp site.

Just returned from Ivy Lodge and it is one of the best sites we have encountered.
We took a 6 berth outfit along with our two kids aged 2 & 4.
Fantastic location - owner could not do enough to help us and and toilets / showers were immaculate to say the least.
An added bonus is the local pub serves Estrella Spanish beer on draught!
Did not want to leave and definitely will be going back if we aqre lucky enough to get a space!
Well done Dennis, you should be very proud of yourself and your fantastic site.

Excellent compact site with helpful and friendly owner. Clean, well cared for facilities. Pleasant fishing and outlook. The access is down a short lane which was no problem. Easy access to both Mablethorpe and Skegness by car, and close to Chapel St Leonards. Will certainly return at some point in the future. Overall a quiet site with well spaced grass plots, friendly owner and relaxed atmosphere.
