We stayed here for a week in May, It is a very basic campsite but perfect if you're looking for somewhere quiet! There were only around 15 people camping when we were there - there was space for more people but they put out a sign saying campsite full and then directed everyone to spread out pitches, so we had lots of room between each pitch for the children to play.

There is a main road across the back of the campsite but fenced and hedged off and didn't disturb us.

The owners were very helpful for places to go, and sandy balls is literally just down the road with a small shop, indoor play area and swimming pool.

There are only two toilets and showers for the ladies and ditto the men, so possibly queues when the campsite is full? Not a problem while we stayed there and they were cleaned throughly twice a day.

We had three children, one under 1 year and had a great time. The views are stunning but be aware the area is hilly if you are bike riding!

Free freezing of ice packs and rental for £1 refundable deposit.

A very simple but pleasant site for anyone looking for quiet, a safe area for children to play and beautiful countryside.

Toms field was a very lovely site!

We have been camping lots of times, but this was the first time since having our daughter, who is now two. She had a fantastic time and hasn't stopped raving about her trip.

We loved this site mainly because it was so small. With only fifty pitches it meant that we didn't have to worry about our daughter disappearing into the depths of a massive site. We could always see her if she did wander off to play with some neighbouring children etc. Also, it meant that the owners Tom and Tina weren't run too ragged by the guests and were always friendly and helpful. They even lent us some tea bags when we arrived because we had forgotten ours!

The toilets and showers were basic, but they were cleaned twice a day, so perfectly tolerable for a weekend - especially considering the bargain price of the site. The showers are free and always had hot water. And even though the site was full, I never had to queue!

The mobile shop is lovely as it sells some great local produce like free range eggs and cheese, but also some luxuries like brioche!

The site has the most amazing views over the forest. It was so nice to sit having breakfast in the morning and look out at such a beautiful sight. Also, the ponies, although they can't get into the site, are close enough for the children to see them and still stay safe.

We will definitely be back!

Do note that there are lots of campsites as you head towards this site so its easy to get confused as to which one is Toms Field but Toms Field has a big chalk board sign outside it so you can't mistake it!

Once again the camping year for the six of us ends, had some very enjoyable weekends as usual this year in Tom's Field as expected.

Tom & Tina have again worked very hard for all us campers, all credit to them, their son Austin was also a great help, (obviously takes after Mum & Dad) Clean Toilets & Showers with endless hot water, even for the washing up, what more do you need?

Can't wait for next year to come round, already planning the dates for the diary.

Needless to say, we still think this is the best small family campsite in the UK, and long may it remain so.

All the best to you, see you next year

Fantastic site in a stunning location run by very friendly people. Was on a chaps camping trip time around (we were nice and quiet, honest) but can't wait to return with family next year.

Adult parties have a separate area of the site to families which works well for everyone. It's the kind of place that I suspect isn't going to appeal to anyone that wants to party into the night though (thankfully).

I imagine that the toilet block could get a bit stretched when the site is full but was fine during our visit. Plenty of hot water and nice and clean with a decent outdoors area to do washing up.

The pub that is a 10-15 minute walk away is a bit on the ropey side (although they do a corking breakfast). Not bad for a drink or two but the evening menu is pretty pricey for the standard of cooking. To be fair staff were all very pleasant and the retro decor is amusing rather than offensive!

A gem of a site. Great ethos, perfect views, amazing stars (no light pollution), great fellow campers. Good food at local pub. Toilets are basic but very clean. Loads hot water for showers and washing up. Never had to queue more than a one person wait.
Excellent access to the forest - but equally happy milling about on the campsite reviving good old fashioned camping games - bat & ball, cricket, swinging on a tyre etc. Lots of children and dogs having fun. It felt like camping when I was a child. We'll be back.

We visited for the 1st time the first weekend in August and had a great time. We booked just over a week ago and the prices were very reasonable. (2 adults, 1 teen, 1 child, 8m tent and 2 cars was £45 from Friday to Sunday).

We only wanted a quiet campsite and it was just that. Strict rules regarding dogs to be kept on leads, bbq's allowed only with bricks supplied by Tom, no music at all and no noise after 11pm.

The field has one entrance and the gate is always shut so it's safe for kids. There's a tyre swing for them to play on but not much else. But then, who needs things when there are so many other kids to play with?

The field itself was good, if a bit sloping, and the view by the fence was spectacular, with large 10m pitches marked clearly. We found the ground quite flinty and hard to peg into and bent quite a lot of our pegs, luckily we had a few spares.

The facilities are basic but adequate in the nice weather, not sure what they'd be like in the wet. The washing up facilities are ok but outside with no shelter. Toilets are ok, natural sewage treatment so no chemicals and a bit smelly. 2 shower cubicles in each toilet block. Muddy and quite small but lots of free hot water.

Limited space in the site office freezer for cool blocks and some to rent for 50p deposit.

A mobile shop visits at 8.30 on Sat/Sun with lots of goodies reasonably priced. Tom & his wife are very nice, requesting that all campers respect their rules and also recycle their rubbish at the on site facilities.

The Fighting Cocks pub just down the road (possibly walking distance) does lovely grub and is reasonably priced.

Overall, we had a lovely weekend and would go back. Can definitely recommend the site.

Well, of all the campsites we've visited in England and Wales, this is the best!

Its is great value for money. Its the most basic and the smallest, but the friendliest and quietest with the nicest fellow campers.

Nice friendly people. Great atmosphere. Perfect and safe for kids. Right in The New Forest. Good facilities. Very clean toilet/shower blocks, poss could do with a couple more as gets little busy in the morning. Clean and best of all Eco! Mobile shop visits each morning, fully equipped with essentials. You're close to the main Salisbury - Bournemouth road. But still in idyllic surroundings. Plenty of walks, nature etc.

There is a holiday park 15 mins stroll with launderette and park and swimming pools, pubs and restaurants. If you need it.

To be honest I cant think of any bad points.

Will definitely stay there again.

We have just returned from a slightly damp but most enjoyable weekend at Tom's Field.

What a lovely site. Tom and Tina are very friendly and helpful, always on hand, checking tents and the very clean facilities, but without being intrusive. The pitches are very large, sheltered and the views are beautiful.

We took three kids who really enjoyed the open space, many games of football, cricket and making new friends.

The tyre swing was a nice touch. And offering tractor rides to the kids in exchange to clear up any rubbish left on the site is pure genius!

The area is lovely, cross the road off the campsite and you can walk for about 3 hours in the new forest without seeing a single person! Just lots of wild ponies, I will treasure for evermore the look on my daughters face when a wild pony came up and nuzzled her arm, priceless!

My only gripe is that the campsite is only open for the weekends during the summer, a week here would be gorgeous!

Great campsite, even though it was busy the pitches were well spread out so it felt spacious. We were lucky enough to have the most fantastic view from our tent. The facilities are basic but just fine, we especially loved the visiting shop. Another highlight was the tractor rides for children, and the horses coming right up to the fence. It was so good, we are going back in August.

Just come back from a weekend here with my husband and three kids, (11, 9 and 2). Absolutely great. We managed to get one of the last pitches at the last minute. I really like my space and peace and quiet so I wasn't sure what to expect but I wasn't disappointed. The site was full but it didn't seem to matter. It was very quiet with just the noise of all the children playing together happily in the middle of the field. The views were fantastic. The toilets and showers were always clean with plenty of hot water. Considering the site was full I managed to get in the showers without having to queue. You cross the road and you're in the middle of the forest where we had some fantastic walks with our 3 dogs. There is a mobile shop that comes in the morning that we didn't use but seemed very popular. There is also a pub a short walk up the road. All in all a great weekend.
