Just returned from 2 nights at Toms Field. Overall a good time but we wouldnt return. Good points. Large grassy pitches Friendly owners/ fellow campers Good location on edge of New Forest/ local town of Fordingbridge nice/ good COOP for food shopping Kids loved going round the site with Tom in his jeep.
Bad points. Toilets/ showers not too clean, did not appear to have been cleaned all weekend Some road noise day and night. Not to bad if you pitch on L hand side of field. Expensive we thought at £20 a night for family of 4 with no EHU, dishwashing and poor toilets ( knew this before we went but still I expected toilets to be better)

Lovely location, but facilities seemed inadequate for the number of pitches - 2 showers, 3 loos and 2 basins in the ladies, in very cramped chemical loo block. Real back to basics camping, no washing up points, and nowhere to dispose of dirty washing up water (was told to use hedge). Was expecting better for the amount we paid - it wasn't cheap. On the plus side, the kids really enjoyed the tractor rides from Tom.

This was my first night under canvas for 45 years since I left the Scouts, and my wife's first time ever!, we came down with my Daughter, Son-in-law and 2 grand daughters who had camped here last year, and what a fabulous time we all had, this was the best weekends weather for weeks so that helped. The site its self is long and narrow with pitches either side and plenty of space for the kids to run about at will, this they took advantage of all the time as it was nice and safe for them and they quickly made friends, so much so, that they came back with some addresses of the friends they had made. This is camping as I knew it, and how it should be, very basic, good water points, toilet & shower block, very friendly people, Tom the owner was a delight, nothing was to much trouble, and his way of cleaning the site with the kids was inspirational. My only one slight criticism was that I feel a large galvanised type of sink unit and tap at the back of the toilet block would be a help in the washing up process, as I saw several campers actually using the wash hand basins to clean their pots and pans in ! That apart, it was a site for proper campers in a fabulous area with lots of shops and pups nearby, we have booked a return visit for August, and this was from a wife of 44 years who said "you'll never get me in a tent". I now think I can now look forward to quite a few week ends here next year as well.

Have just returned from a three night stay at Tom's field over the late May bank holiday. This is a small campsite with very basic facilities. The loo/ shower block was kept clean but frequent queues suggested that it was a little inadequate for the numbers of people on site. With the experience of other New Forest sites we also felt that Tom's field was a little overpriced for the facilities offered and backing onto the road meant that there was little peace and quiet to be had even at night! That said, the view (with your back to the road) was lovely and Tom's incentive of a ride on his John Deere for recycling was a great thrill for the kids.

We stayed here for a couple of nights last summer. Would go there again. For info: Good points: Toilets & showers clean (apart from when it rained, they got wet & slippy) Location really lovely Nice pub down the road! Good pitches with bushes (we were in the wooded area for adults) Bad Points Showers/toilets as above Next to quite a noisy road

No caravans, no bar, no play area, the kids made a camp in the bushes, made friends with all the other kids and had a great time. True back to basics camping with lovely views and friendly owners and not a lot else. Then again what else do you need? No civilisation as far as the eye can see but a road does run behind it which can be a bit noisy in the day, pretty quiet at night. Only open for weekends and bank holidays, full for Mayday bank holiday so pretty squashed in but all camp sites are on bank holidays - still room in the middle for the kids to play. Also bit pricy considering the facilities (or lack of). Toilets and showers were cramped but reasonably clean with hot water, we boiled a kettle to wash up at our tent which was fine. They have a no music / no noise after 11 policy which everyone observed except the people next to us on the first night, who were told by Tom in no uncertain terms to keep it down after that which they did. A really nice place to get away from it all, would definitley return (possibly without the kids to try the rather nice looking adults only section).

Great location with splendid views but pitches too close together, showers /toilet facilities inadequate for number of people and no where to wash up. A little expensive for what you get for your money. No noise policy is fair enough, but I think it's taken a bit too far when you are camping next to a noisy road.

What a fabulous campsite. We've just spent a wonderful Bank Holiday weekend at Tom's Field and we'll definitely be back same time next year. The location is ideal, close to walks and cycle paths and the views are spectacular - our kids particularly liked the neighbouring donkeys nuzzling over the fence. Tom and his family really made our holiday special as they went out of their way to entertain the children and make the adults feel welcome and informed about where to go for the best beach, pubs etc. The perimeter camping arrangement allowed for lots of space, uninterrupted views and a place for the children to ride their bikes, fly kites, play cricket and feel independent. We've got three kids under six and because the site is so small, our two year old was able to wander around having fun and joining in with the bigger kids. The shower block is small, but the showers were hot and the atmosphere at the site encouraged people to be friendly and courteous so we never had to wait too long. There are loads of water points, a commendable recycling scheme and Tom's special method of getting kids to help clear the site up was very entertaining. Thank you Tom. Jane Brownsord, Wantage

We were recommended Tom's Field by a friend and it seemed the ideal site for our first camping trip as a family. The only downside about this whole trip is that we are now spoilt for future trips as I doubt we will ever find anywhere that meets the standards set by Tom's field, nor the beautiful setting and simplicity and cleanliness of this site. Tom and Tina were friendly and approachable and promoted recycling - with an incentive for the children on Sunday morning to gather any litter they could find in return for a trip around the site in Tom's 'gator'. Which went down very well! The local pub is 10 mins away and serves great food. Every morning at 9am, there are papers and milk for sale at Tom's caravan at the front entrance. The water in the showers was hot (some might say too hot, but just right for me!), the toilets were clean and our pitch was directly in front of a water point. We didn't want to go anywhere too crowded or commercial and this is exactly what we got with Tom's field. We will be coming again for sure.

Cracking Camp Site. Stayed in the "Couples only" section in the wooded area at the end of the field. Nice and peaceful with a great view into the Valley. Tom and his family were very helpful and took great care of all the facilities [toilets / recycling area]. They provided facilities to re-freeze your cool packs and store anything you needed kept cold. A shop van visits every morning about nine for provisions [bread / milk / papers] A definite must do for next year, much more round the local area to explore.
