We spent a very enjoyable few days here. The site is sloping, with lots of trees: lovely, until it rains, when we had a river in our awning! The facilities were beautiful and clean but could do with being updated. The site is a little way out of Leek so there are no shops within walking distance. The Three Horseshoes (10 mins walk)does a good pint, the food looked nice but was out of our price range. The playpark is swings and a slide, but there was nowhere to play ball at all. Be careful when you leave - we clipped our caravan on the gatepost as the turn out of the site on to the access road is very tight; from what the warden said this is a common problem and telling people about it rather than doing something about it is unhelpful. We will return when this is improved.

Our first weekend away with the tent, met up with my mum and dad with their camper van. Site very clean and tidy, staff friendly, (showed us to our pitch in the pouring rain), camping field quite flat, but did get a bit squelchy under foot, but it did rain a lot. Toilets and showers were clean. Shop sells the basics, bread butter gas etc, point to note the bread is frozen so don't expect to buy it and go and make your picnic. Saturday stayed dry, went to chestnut owl and otter sanctuary at chapel-en-le-frith, (about 15 miles away), good day out for the kids, and called at titesworth reservoir on the way back where there is a huge play area. Did not use play area on site so can't comment on that. Eating out, the chippy in the market square in leek is very nice and reasonably priced, and also had an excellent meal at the moss rose pub, about 2-3 miles from site towards leek, there is also a fish and chip van that comes on to site on a Saturday evening. All in all a very nice site, which I would recommend and would like to return to.

We booked this campsite by accident, thinking we had booked the caravan club site up the road which we have stayed at before but actually couldn't have been happier with the result of this mix up.
On arrival the staff were incredibly friendly, walked us to our pitch which was one of the larger ones as we have a twin axle. We had loads of grass on either side which was perfect for sunbathing, BBQ'ing and for our 3 year old to play. The shop is small but has all the essentials, toilet roll, soap, water etc however they don't take cards for the shop purchases, cash only but when I went to buy icecreams they very kindly set up a tab for me and let me pay the following day. We had also forgotten our dog rope for the stake so the owners found some rope and attached clips to it for us. They honestly couldn't be more helpful.
The park is just a swing set and slide but has loads of grass so perfect for kicking a football around. The dog walk is really small but there is a big farmers field next door which you have access to which made up for it.
We didn't use the facilities but did take a peek and they were spotless.
Indoor pot washing area and laundry.
Really peaceful site, kid friendly, great things nearby to see, tittesworth reservoir up the road has a huge kids park and ducks and geese to feed. The pub up past the site on the left does a great carvery.
Overall it's a little gem of a site that we will definitely be going back to.

Our first weekend using our newly purchased tourer and we couldn't have chosen a better site. Really warm welcome, lots of friendly advice and help given to us newbies. Showers and toilet facilities were absolutely spotless. Hot water in abundance. No cobwebs!
Lovely site close to The Roaches and Tittesworth Reservoir. Peaceful and relaxing. No noise heard from the main road. We were under trees on the shady part of the site and that was my only little, tiny moan. We couldn't sit out in the sun by our unit in the evening because the shade was too cold! If you're a sun lover ask for a pitch on the main field! That way you can move around your unit to catch the rays at any time of the day!
Thank you to all the site staff for providing an excellent service.

A fairly small, well laid out, neat and tidy site, which slopes slightly (although this didn't cause too much of a problem).
Two ablutions blocks, easily accessible from all pitches, are clean and heated. One block has two loos, two showers and two privacy cubicles (but strangely no separate handwashing sink), the other block has open sinks rather than privacy cubicles. The dishwashing area is inside and there are washing up bowls and there is a laundry (didn't use this).
There is a small play area at the top of the site, but having no children cannot really comment on this.
Being at the side of the A53, there is some road noise which never seems to stop. Being surrounded by fields there is also some farm noise. On our first night the farm machinery was working till about 11pm.
The site is on the doorstep of the Peak District so walking is good if the weather is on side, Tittesworth Resevoir is about 1 1/2 miles away and has a visitor centre with café. Rudyard Lake is a little further and has a miniature railway which runs alongside the lake.
If you want a meal out then head for the Hotel Rudyard, where they serve a carvery Monday to Saturday, 12 til 9 pm, it was delicious and at time of writing this was £3. 95 (or £4. 95 if you want lamb) what a bargain!

Lovely site. Toilets very clean. Won an award for being so. Showers clean, hot and enough of them.
Playground adequate for 2 to 11 years children. Pitches a mix of hardstanding and grass. Hook ups were reliable and didn't trip once.
Wardens were friendly and helped us reverse our caravan onto the pitch. We asked for late check out and this was allowed so we enjoyed a slow pack up which suited the younger members of our family. (free of charge-late check out)
There was internet connections which we used and we also enjoyed the walks and scenery that is on the doorstep.

As novices we decided to make our second venture close to home for the simple purpose of testing the hydrostatic head of our tent.
The site is well manicured and maintained by a very friendly team. I love the pitch space offered by C. &C. Club sites and, given that we were at the foot of the Peak District, the pitch was comparatively flat.
The shower blocks were adequate and cleaned regularly but the lower block does require a little black mould control.
The site is close to a busy main road and traffic continues through the night although it did not cause a problem to our party. Instead we listened to owls and foxes prior to retiring.
All in all a great little camp to use as a base for walking.
P. S. The tent survived the British summer downpour very well !

Visited this site 3/8/12-5/8/12 and although thunder storms were more apparent then the birds we had a fabulous time.
The site is very clean and tidy. Shower block very clean and all other facilities spotless.
The site staff were very friendly and helpful too, giving us ideas for lovely walks and local pubs. Leek is approx 2 miles away and Buxton 10 miles away.
There is a very nice pub/hotel left outside site which offers a very nice menu.
There is also a lovely pub first left out of site approx 1 mile called the Lazy frog. Walks are stunning.
The Roaches a must for walkers. All in all a beautiful site

Used this site a few times in 2011. Toilet block near reception looking tired. Some road noise. WiFi hit and miss. No shops within walking distance. What was really great though were the staff. So friendly.
I returned in 2012, no 2011 staff remained and the warden that greeted me was extremely surly. Shouting at me in full public view for not pitching correctly!
To that end I won't return, in fact my c&cc membership renewal came through recently and I gave it a miss this year.
Funny what a smile could of changed.

The site is easily accessible being just off main road. The road is therefore audible from the tent pitches, especially if you pitched at the end of site towards the road. At the far end (caravan end) I don’t think this would be a problem and it really didn’t bother me too much in the tent.
The site is well organised with wardens taking you to your pitch on arrival – it did seem a little regimented with being told to pitch our tent in a certain way between certain markers, but the wardens were helpful throughout our stay. Pitches are flat, it was boggy, but there had been significant rain before our arrival.
I would also recommend taking decent pegs as the ground is hard. There is a very limited children’s playground and I did feel that the site wasn’t really geared towards children.
Everything is well laid out and peaceful. There are two toilet and shower blocks. Both are extremely well kept, but the ones by reception are the superior being well heated. There is also a large indoor washing up room and laundry facilities as well as a very basic shop at reception. A fish and chip van turns up on a Friday evening for a limited period of time (I would double check the times as it did seem to differ from what was advertised).
The site is well located for exploring in to the Peak District but I would also recommend a visit to the reservoir just down the road at which there are a number of walking trails, extensive play facilities for children and a cafe.
The route to this takes you past a couple of pubs. We tried the Three Horseshoes which did a very good carvery. The meal was then marred a little by them not doing child’s portions on desserts served from the hot counter which resulted in them seeking to charge full for a quarter portion for my son.
This is a well run and friendly site, not one I would come to for a week as I don’t think it is child focussed, but I would return for another weekend as it is well located and well appointed.
