Very friendly helpful wardens and I experienced no stern interpretation of the campsite rules as indicated by other reviews. Normal sensible rules apply such as 'quiet' after 11 pm as opposed to 'silence'.
Leek shops and takeaways only a couple of miles away and 'The Roaches' gritstones just up the road. The site is well placed for a very picturesque moorland drive to Buxton.
The site is gently sloping with a pleasant amount of trees. There are 2 toilet blocks which were kept in a very clean condition. On the down side you can hear the main Leek to Buxton road traffic from the site and the children's play area is rather small and away from immediate view. I enjoyed staying at the site and will use it again.

Just got back from fantastic four night stay here. Site was very clean and well maintained. Warden could not have been more helpful showing us to our pitch and pointing out where everything was. Toilets spotless at all times extremely well cleaned.
We did not explore the surrounding area much as our sole purpose of visit was to go to Alton Towers (we have merlin passes) excellent as it was only 20 mins away from campsite.Did pop into leek once it has a brilliant fish and chip shop.
Would totally recommend site to any one although it was very quiet and children's play area was small our children had great fun exploring the camp site.

Our first break of this year as members of the Camping and Caravan club, and our first club site. This site is fantastic, I enjoyed our stay here very much.
The toilet block was spotless in every way. The site itself is maintained to a very high standard. The only thing I had an issue with was the awning hard standing. I didn't have rock pegs to secure the awning as the ground was very hard. I did buy some during our stay and that cured that problem.
There plenty of places to visit in the area around the site, and our National Trust membership came in very handy.
This site is very well laid out and the staff are there to help. I was guided in to my pitch and helped to arrange my outfit in the correct place in one reversing manoeuvre.

Arrived for the whitsun half term week, was greeted with a warm welcome as you come to expect from C&C sites, shown to our pitch and details of the facilities explained along with their locations.
Facilities all clean and tidy, could perhaps benefit from a family room or two.
Good family friendly pub a short drive a way - ye old rock inn - had a god selection of children's meals at reasonable price.
Co-op about a mile a way with good provisions.
Excellent base to visit many attractions, Alton towers, waterworld, heights of abraham, also close to 2 cycle routes that are on disused railway lines, so safe for children.
Did not find any problems with the wardens and the children playing with balls etc
Think perhaps either the chip van has gone out of business or has fallen out with the site as there was not one visit during our week stay.

A really understated site in my opinion. Excellent facilities to usual C & C Club standard. Nice peaceful location. Decent playground / play area. Managers very friendly, asked to check out late and allowed until 15:00!
Alton towers 20 mins away, leek town 5 mins, tittesworth water ( with fantastic adventure playground) 5 mins, all surrounded by stunning views and countryside.
Cracking tv reception also. There really is so much in this area to do within 30 mins drive. I'd rate it 9/10 no problem and can't wait to return in the near future.

Arrived at a wet bank holiday weekend to be told I had not booked a pitch with an awning what more could go wrong?
Not much the wardens were very helpful explaining if any pitches came free through cancellations they would let me know.
The site is how you would expect for a camping and caravan club site clean and tidy with all boxes ticked, The only down side was an annoying shut barrier system that you have to close behind you when you arrive and leave.
There are no shops within a 1 mile radius and the club reception stocks very little. If you require any groceries or papers you have to travel a good mile to the co op on the outskirts of Leek.
There is a friendly pub called the Moss Rose although it doesn't serve food the staff are really nice.
Travel the other way and you can find Tittesworth reservoir a great day out with designated walks that last from 1 hour to 4 hours.
Good site so long as you have transport and are willing to travel

Just spent an absolutely brilliant weekend at Leek and could hardly fault the site at all and we look forward to spending many weekends there during the coming summer.
The new site managers were very welcoming and nothing it seemed was too much trouble, they always had time for a chat or at the very least a cheery wave or smile.
The toilets and separate shower room's (two blocks) were always clean and fresh and we didn’t queue for either all weekend (I guess the site was probably just over half full).
The site is in two half's with one side having hard standing pitches and the other side which is mostly grass with some hard standing (families tend to use this side due to the play area at the top of the field). The road is close by but we were not troubled by it at all.
The Three Horseshoes is half a mile straight along the main road and serves Real Ale and the Carvery on a Friday is definitely to be recommended. The Old Rock Inn is a short car journey away and was also a nice old pub although we didn't get chance to sample the menu as most of the tables were reserved.
There is a lovely walk to the reservoir from the site, and the Roaches which are a large range of grit stone rocks is a favourite place for walkers and rock-climbers.
Overall we were very well pleased, and the only possible criticism would be the half dozen or so pitches at the bottom of the site, which consisted of a continuous strip of gravel. These were in need of some landscaping / grass / hedges.

The site is well placed for all that the Peak District has to offer with great countryside and towns nearby. Both Leek to the South and Buxton to the North are worth a visit if the weather is keeping you away from the hills.
Facilities are as to be expected from a C&CC site and are well looked after.
The site is on a gentle slope throughout with a mixture of concrete, gravel and grass pitches. The concrete pitches are showing their age now and several are breaking up. We're having a late spring this year and as a result all the grass, be it pitches or areas between hard standings is sodden and water logged.
Having read all the reviews in here for the site, I assume there has been a change of management or wardens in the last couple of years. We too found the on site staff to blow hot and cold and we couldn't help but feel we were being suffered rather than welcomed. We have a (very short) list of 'must not, do not' sites that are overly rules and regs focussed. I'm afraid C&CC Leek has made it onto that list.

Generally a good, well laid out site except one area of continual gravel with no grass at all. Glad we were not there as would not have been nice to sit out if the weather had been good enough to do so.
Clean toilet blocks but managers actually told one lady that she had to leave the washing-up room as it was time for cleaning even though they could have cleaned the laundry while the lady finished the dishes. Also critised one motorhome for pitching wrong way round (facing their friends) which meant his driveaway awning was too close to his friends on adjacent pitch.
Only other criticism is the chemical disposal is in the top toilet block making it quite a distance to carry a full loo for those parked at the other end of site.

Just returned from a 9 day break in Lovely Leek.
Local area lovely with plenty to do for all ages. Leek a nice town with good shops including Morrisons and Aldi.
I agree with other reviews in that the Assistant Wardens were prone to bad days! This sometimes left you feeling unwelcome and a bit of a nuisance. Take them with a pinch of salt.
All in all I would recommend this site. The facilities were clean and decent (watch for very slippy floors). The site is sheltered by trees however the dog walk is the size of a postage stamp! and the road can definitely be heard, but the 11pm noise curfew were adhered to and we had no problems.
Bins regularly emptied, grass neat and no sign of any litter. Unfortunately no recycling which we would have liked to use.
