Nice country site with good toilet shower etc. Grass and few hard standings, wifi, info, lots of room for children to play, pool. eaceful not far from Loches, good market and castle here with a lot of history in the old town. Joan of arc was a visitor to the castle. Lots to visit and see, close to the route of tour de France a few years ago. Loches has plenty of bars, cafes, and shops, also a hyper market with LPG, easy to reach from campsite, also plenty of other places to go. You will be made welcome and all the advice you need will be given

My wife and I took the 02. 00am crossing from Dover to Dunkerque as we chose to have a pleasant drive during the early morning and day using the ‘D’ roads to our site destination of De la Touche near Ligueil in the Loire Valley where we spent two fantastic weeks.

We were fully aware that we would arrive at an unearthly hour but were more than pleased to nestle down near the site entrance so we were on the door step when they opened in the morning.

When we eventually arrived we hadn’t stopped for more than a few minutes when one of the owners, Roz and her sister-in-law came out to our car and said they would let us onto the site just inside the entrance. We were amazed as we had no intention of disturbing the owners; they were so welcoming in the middle of the night which left us almost speechless.

We could not have picked a more pleasant and peaceful site run by the owner’s John and Roz, a lovely Yorkshire couple, whom were so serene in every respect.

After we had booked in we were given the complete freedom of which pitch we would like, all large, grassy and spacious and told that we could site our caravan however we wanted to, not regimental whatsoever.

We were personally shown all the facilities. The prep room was large with ample sinks for washing up and a designated sink for laundry. There is also a washing machine and a tumble dryer which is coin operated.

At one end of the prep room there are information maps are on the wall and a table with four chairs nearby which had binders on containing tourist information for the whole of the Loire region. On a nearby shelf are baskets containing leaflets and brochures of every type of activity, various tours of vineyards, Chateau’s, Safari Parks, cruising on the Loire, eating out etc. A list of all the local market days is also on view.

Opposite the sinks is a large chest freezer for the benefit of everyone free of charge. The washrooms, toilets and showers were always clean and respectable. Next door was Pam’s pantry dining room and also the free Wi-Fi area which was very pleasant.

Pam will provide a selection of breakfast’s to order if requested the evening before for a very modest price or an evening meal which varies each evening from fish chips to curry’s and much more.

The on site shop had all the basics. The local supermarket in the village was only about 7/8 minute drive away and with Loches a much larger town with many more shops and supermarkets being some 15 minutes drive away.

The swimming pool was great for both adults and children the latter had to be supervised which is to be expected and a play area adjacent. Children could run around to their hearts delight in safety and didn’t annoy any other camper, not to my knowledge anyway. At one end of the campsite is a river so if you have the patience you could have trout on the BBQ.

If you have a satellite dish there is no problem getting a signal from any pitch my signal was 100% on quality and strength. This site also has the facility for caravan storage at very reasonable rates and just one phone call to the owner’s and it will be put out on a pitch ready for your arrival.

Bicycles are for hire so if you fancy a ride around the lovely quiet countryside the facility is there. There are no restrictions on BBQ’s. Pets are welcome and the only restriction is keeping them on a lead and exercising them off site which is common sense.

The reviews speak for themselves and by reading them all they should cover 99% of your questions.

Whilst the site was mainly Brit’s and a few Dutch when you drove out of the site it was 99. 9% French everywhere you travelled, hardly any English number plates to be seen or voices heard, one of the real parts of France.

Would we ever visit this site again? After reading our review it’s easy to draw your own conclusions.

We had a great week at this quiet, peaceful site in the Loire Valley. The owners were relaxed and laid back and their approach meant a very relaxed atmosphere in the site all together. Nothing was too much trouble! We had forgotten our gas bottle and within minutes of our arrival they'd found one for us which we used for the week free of charge!

Pitches were large and spacious and the facilities always clean and although there were only 2 showers and 2 toilets for the men, we never had to queue or wait! The washing facilities were fine - plenty of space to wash and dry up in and there was even a washing machine and tumble drier - available on a paid timer - should you need one. There was also a large chest freezer free to use for the storage of food, cooling of drink and freezing of freezer blocks. The shop in the reception stocked simple items - wines, beers, soft drinks etc. And also had a large stock of board games and ball games to borrow. There was also book exchange in operation that had a large variety of books to read and swap.

'Pam's pantry' was apparently very good although we didn't use it. Breakfasts and daily evening meals are cooked to order (for a price). The menu was varied. You could either take the food back to your unit or eat in the 'dining room'. This room also doubled up as a quiet room and also had FREE Wi-Fi.

There is a children's area, but this was small. That being said however, there is plenty of space for the children to play and there is no restrictions on ball games, scooters or bikes. There is also a plunge pool. This was magnificent for the weather we had. It was clean and a perfect size for adults and deep and long enough for the children to swim. Given the 30+ degree heat for 3 or 4 days, this was a beautiful way to cool down.

My father-in-law hired one of the 'timber tents'. This was great, with everything that you would need - cooker, fridge (with top freezer), hot plates and was fully stocked with cutlery and crockery. In addition it also had satellite TV which picked up a large number of channels - including BBC so we were able to watch some key Olympic events! There were 2 beds and a double sofa bed in each of these units.

The owners knowledge of the local area was excellent and there was a large stock of leaflets and maps for you to look at and peruse. There were plenty of sites to visit - vineyards, chateaux and lots more, plus a lovely lake with a manmade beach not too far away. Loches and Ligueil are lovely French towns with traditional markets and supermarkets for all that you need. Ligueil is only minutes away, with Loches about 15 mimutes away.

All in all, this was a great site. We will certainly use it again and I would recommend it to anyone wanting to break up the long drive to more popular places in the South of France.

Lovely site, very quite. Owners very helpful. Gave us some fresh veg from there garden. We had pitch nr river. Showers very clean. Had fish and chips from pams pantry yummy. Mile walk into liguiel, shops few bars etc. About 30mins from loches. Lots to do in area. Will be going back. Lovely walk from site through fishing ponds to the park in liguiel. Mix of brits and dutch. Big market in loches sat morn. Not far from the attractions of the loire.

Great site owned by lovely ex-Yorkshire folks, who were really helpful. The site is well laid out and not regimented. Toilet block is quite good always loads of free hot water. Plunge pool nice and clean. Great little catering cabin to do evening meals (fish&chips) et al. Also a range of tasty breakfasts if required. Handy if you want an early start without the hassle of cooking. Well situated for chateaux visits, which is what we wanted. Will go again.

'Timber Tents' 4 small chalets are a good idea. Various local markets bustling. A great holiday made even better by the lovely owners!

Would agree with with other reviewers this was a lovely site. Directions provided on the web site were perfect and we found the site with no problems.

Stayed here with 2 other families on way home. Pitches good although slightly on a slope but not really noticeable. Toilet block very clean but I would echo comment about only 1 sink in ladies. 'Pam's Pantry' was were we could buy chips, full English breakfast etc. Something which was enjoyed by one of the families travelling with us.

The pool (although small) was adequate for a dip after a long hot journey.

Although the site had spacious pitches and easily accessible electric hookup we were disappointed with the facilities.

The washing up area is varnished pine worktops that were turning black from the ingress of water. As another review stated only one washbasin means that if someone is using it there is nowhere to wash your hands or clean your teeth. The shower trays were not particularly clean with scummy marks around the edges and only one of the two showers was working properly while we were there.

Overall the facilities looked a little bit tired and a bit shoddy.

The village is not too far away, a 20 min cycle ride and there is a supermarket and the usual bakers etc.

We would have liked to have been able to order croissants and bread at the site and would have been prepared to pay a little bit more for them to be delivered. Instead the owners have decided to provide a 'little piece of England' by providing English food such as fish and chips, bacon butties and cream teas from a shed in the campsite grounds. This is the last thing we wanted as part of the reason for going to France is to sample the local food. If I wanted English food I would have stayed at home!

All in all a reasonable campsite but not one we would return to.

My other gripe was the cost of the washing machine and tumble drier 7 Euros for a wash and 1 Euro for 10 mins tumble drying - not cheap by any means

We have just spent 4 nights at this campsite, it is a lovely site and quite spacious pitches. The pool is good for the kids, small play park but it didn't semm to bother any of the kids as they all made their own entertainment.

The toilets/showers were clean. Only gripe there is there is only 1 sink in the ladies with a lockable door so if someone is in and you have just been to the loo there is nowhere to wash your hands. The washing up area was nice and spacious and quite cool to sit in and read the leaflets etc when it was too hot.

The area is lovely, very picturesque. Nice roads/lanes for bike riding.

The owners were very friendly and helpful.

We will definitely visit again.

This was our first trip to France so we were rather apprehensive about travelling the distance (on a motorbike) and whether the site would live up to the reviews once we got there.

We needn’t have worried though as it exceeded our expectations. The Yorkshire couple who run it are very friendly and helpful and always have time to stop and chat, nothing is too much trouble.

We were the only tents when we arrived and could pitch wherever we wanted so we chose by the river. Very tranquil, except for the sounds of wildlife and the hens and ducks who came to visit daily.

The site is very neat and tidy and the washing up area and showers are kept very clean. There are various fruit trees around the site which you can help yourself to (when in season). The small shop has basic essentials, although the local supermarket is only about 3 kilometres away for anything more substantial.

Overall, the site has everything you need for a holiday. So much so, that we’re planning on returning next year and leaving our equipment there (for a small fee) and using the site as a base for exploring France further afield in the future.

Can't wait to make this our second home!

For my first experience in a holiday park I must admit I have been pleasantly surprised. We just came back from a Holiday with Siblu in a static mobile home.

A very helpful team helped us to re conciliate a misunderstanding booking we were expected in Normandy and it was 10pm! They settled us immediately in an equivalent mobile home and the following day were moved to a very high standard mobile home extremely clean to my surprise better than many English 4* hotels I use to know.

The overall campsite seemed very tidy and clean throughout.

The French and English team have been both very warm and welcoming.

Thanks for this first experience.

Definitely recommend out of season and it was so quiet in September although we were surrounded by other holidaymaker obviously it is September!
