Camped for only 2 nights here on the way North. What a relaxing site with ample pitches. Visited Loches as a great old city and market.
Facilities are clean and well planned all in one block near the main buildings. Only 2 showers for the men but this not a problem as not a crowded site.
Owner very welcoming with tour of site and friendly manner.
Be aware that when it says first right over the bridge it really is a narrow lane and easily missed particularly when the maize crop obscures the site.
2 night of peace were not enough - we will return.

Will second all the reviews - lovely, peaceful site with helpful owners and a friendly atmosphere. We stopped off for 2 nights - one on the way down south and one on the way back - but wished we could have stayed longer. The kids loved it here, especially the splash pool which they spent hours in (thankfully shallow enough for them to stand throughout, not like the rest of the pools on the other campsites we stayed on).
Just three things to add to what everyone else has said;
1) lovely loo seats, not at all what you expect at a campsite.
2) beautiful flowers
3) the most delicious plums if you arrive in season (Aug) - though camping next to one of the trees is not particularly advisable!
We will definitely stop off on our way next year - and this time spend a day or two longer.

If you are the kind of camper that require entertainment facilities and licenced bars, then this is not the campsite for you. The only bad thing that I could say about this delightful location is that I had only a week to enjoy the surroundings.
The owners were more than accommodating and helpful, the shower rooms and toilets were always clean and tidy and there was also use of a communal chest freezer for food and ice blocks etc, electric hook ups located all around which were all easily accessible.
The grounds are situated about five minutes away from a lovely village/town of Ligueil which I found to be a picturesque and friendly place, with good food and amenities, or alternatively, ten to fifteen minutes from Loche. This was the nearest large town with a vibrant market place and lots of cafe's, bars and restaurants, with a large E Leclerce shoping centre on the outskirts. The site is also conveniently situated to a lot of daily activities only a short drive away such as swimming pools, chateau's and much more. However, with that in mind, because the grounds of the site had a plunge pool, bbq area and a lovely river that ran through the campsite (which we were allowed to fish freely in), found that on some day's, just lounging around was more than enough entertainment. I will definitely be returning to escape the rat race again!

We stayed at this site on our way to and from our main site down south.
This is a quiet, peaceful and relaxing place, we totally relaxed on both occasions. It is a very friendly site, everyone chats to each other. We hadn't been on site long enough to get the legs down on the trailer tent before our neighbours offered us a glass of red wine! When it was time for us to (reluctantly) leave, we were delayed by other fellow campers chatting to us! (We didn't mind at all, I hasten to add)
Piches are quite casual, but large and mainly flat and all of them have a nice view.
Facilities wise, showers and toilets were spotless, toilet roll provided and soap in the dispensers, which was a real bonus, as we had by that time got used to taking the loo roll to the toilet block, as is the norm for most french sites. The owners were very helpful, John wandering about for a chat most days, and being very helpful when we needed wooden blocks for our tent levelling. (He just went and cut some wood in his barn for us!)
The surrounding area was beautiful, the local village very scenic and friendly (try the patisserie) We visited Loches, again beautiful. Roads very quiet, apart from farmers and harvesters, so at times, slow. You can hear a bit of road noise at times on the site, but this didn't bother us.
The pool was lovely and welcome as there was no escape from the heat for the 3 days we were there. I have to say, however, that it looked a bit past its best, and there is LOTS of emphasis on keeping your children under observation when they are using the pool, as it is deep (for kids) and it takes some negotiating to get up and down the wobbly ladder.
We would go back to this site and stay longer next time, as we didn't feel we had done the area justice. We'd also have more time to chat and play games, which is what we enjoy about camping.

A clean and well serviced site a ten minute bike ride out of Liguel.
Mostly flat spaces but some bigger than others. Spaces not marked out as such which could possibly be a difficulty.
Small amount of traffic noise from the Liguel to Loches road where we were sited.
Showers/toilet facilities excellent and well serviced.
Small supermarket in the village which stocked most things. At least three bars and a nice looking Pizzaria in the main square. Can recommend the bread and pain au raisin from the bread shop in the main church square.
Communal BBQ on Saturday night which is great if you want to meet other folk.
A visit to Loches was great and there are a number of bars/restaurants to chose from. The public gardens in Loches are particularly impressive and a great place to have a packed lunch.
We travelled south to the Lakes area which again was very impressive.
Plunge pool was closed for part of the time that we were in residence

Have just returned to the UK after spending 2 weeks at this lovely quaint site.
The site is situated in the Loire Valley and close enough drive to the major Chateauxs and historic French towns.
The owners were superb and very helpful, John lending his fishing gear to me so I could fish on the river that runs through the site!
The shower and food prep areas are spotless and cleaned twice daily, the showers temperature was great and easy to control.
There is a small shop on site, that sell eggs, bread, soft drinks, alcohol, etc.
Also a plunge pool that we did not use, but looked very tempting after a hot day in the sun.
We were also lucky enough to catch thew fortnightly campsite BBQ which was great for chatting eating, and meeting people from all over europe, UK, Holland and Germany in particular!
I would recommend 3 Chateauxs in the area Chenoceaux, Chambord and Villandry - in that order. Also worth seeing is Loches 15 mins drive away, great market Weds/Sat and its own medieval castle, Chenille a small hamlet with a great lake including a man made beach! 2 minutes from Chemille is Montresor an absolutely stunning little French village, unspoilt by time.
Again thanks to the owners who made our stay very accommodating and should we head back to France again, we would definitely stop again.

Fantastic site in great location. If you want to get away from it all then this is a great site. River on site with free fishing, very clean facilities, plenty of wildlife to look out for (including resident coypu in river).
Village of Ligueil only 5 mins drive away with a few places to eat and Loches is only 15 mins drive away with a wide variety of choice for eating out. We only ate out on the first night however as the site was so good we preferred to cook and eat there.
Very central location for sightseeing, lots to do including Chateaux, vineyards, several local markets. Great owners who make you very welcome. Already booked to go again in August.

The UKCampsite.co.uk description and the site's own website details are truly very accurate.
Not too many (Any ?) French voices to be heard on site but a sprinkling of other Europeans to add to the UK visitors who are in the majority.
Facilities such as wash rooms, kitchen areas first class.Very helpful owners.
A nice place for a quiet restful holiday with plenty to do in the area within reasonable driving distance.Might be a bit quiet for families with teenagers staying more than a day or two but that will be an attraction to others.
We visited out and back on our way south at height of season but can easily imagine a return visit when not looking to travel so far and using as a base to explore the area further whilst avoiding the bigger Loire towns.
Village of Ligueil was typical small French village but decent sized supermarket with petrol and Diesel way below motorway and N road prices to add to usual local shops, eateries and bank.Local swimming pool to supplement sites own pool.

What a great little site - a real gem. The toilet block is modern and spotless, plenty of books and magazines to borrow. A little plunge pool is really useful when the temperature is hot.
We stayed there for five nights in August and were pleasantly surprised by the relaxed atmosphere and the very helpful owners. There may not be too much for families to do but for a quiet relaxing stay at a location that is close to all the attractions in this part of France, this site is a winner.

We stayed in a Timber Tent (wooden hut) for one night as it was a convenient stop-over.
It was very hot while we were there and the hut was boiling during the day but it cooled down very quickly in the evening. The pool was a welcome activity!
A very pretty site with a lovely little garden to sit in and a kitchen garden where you can pick some salad. All very relaxing, quiet and serene.
There was some distant road noise at times, however.
In the farm buildings, where the toilets, sitting area and kitchen prep' area are, it is wonderfully cool. There is also a shop with fresh eggs amongst other things.
The owners are very nice and they gave our boys some games to play with. They also charged us in Sterling rather than Euros which was very considerate as it was only one night and we paid in advance from UK!
A lovely quiet part of France with lots to do and see in the vicinity.
