Having stayed at Exmoor House many times in the past we decided to try it in the midst of Winter and stay for the New Year celebrations.
Arrival time is STRICT 1pm. Lovely laid out site with good sized hard standing pitches. They have a few 'fully serviced' pitches but we have always found them a bit small (length wise). 2 lovely toilet/shower blocks always very warm and clean. Small reception, shop and information office to boot. No Vodafone signal on site, in fact none in most of Dulverton (bonus?!) and no 3G. The CC wifi was incredibly slow too and we were advised by friend NOT to buy it.
Dulverton is a lovely, friendly town a 5 minute walk from the site with a great local butchers (we bought some lovely steak from him!), bakers, newsagent/small supermarket and lots of other foody and gift shops. We ate in the Lion Hotel one night and it was brilliant, highly recommended by us. We also ate in the Bridge Inn (closest pub to the site) on New Years Eve and again the food was really good. Spoilt for choice right on your doorstep.
We did a lovely cold, frost walk in Burridge Woods one morning and it was stunning. We have now done Exmoor House in every season and we love it. Will definitely be back.

We have just spent 4 nights over Christmas at Exmoor House, our first Christmas escape in the motorhome!
We have stayed at the site quite a few years ago, but it now has lovely new shower blocks, always warm and clean, nice hot showers with plenty of pressure and no buttons to press. We had a service pitch with waste and fresh water, good wide pitch with grass either side, but not very deep, our 24ft motorhome only just fitted on!
The site is nice and quiet and close to town which has all the facilities you could need.
For those who need to know O2 & 3 mobile could send and receive texts, but not receive or make calls.
We really enjoyed our first Christmas away, hopefully one of many.

This was our first stay at Exmoor House and, in hindsight, we should have booked an “awning” pitch. The pitch that we were allocated was very tight for a 7m long motorhome [pitch 24] and we had to fold up the bike rack to get onto the pitch without encroaching on the roadway!
Having said that, we enjoyed a 5 night stay here in July 2014. All the facilities were up to the usual Caravan Club standard.
Being on the outskirts of Dulverton itself, the site is conveniently located to walk to the abundance of shops for supplies – even fish & chips [and call in at The Bridge Inn at every passing!]
The clapper bridge at Tarr Steps is a good 12+ mile circular walk through a combination of wooded tracks alongside the River Barle and open pasture. Thankfully the Tarr Steps Inn was at the halfway point for much needed refreshments!
A shorter 5 mile circular walk following the Rover Barle downstream to Brushford and using the old railway line was also undertaken.
One thing that did restore our faith in human nature was when a watch was left in the washing up area and it was handed into the site wardens and collected the next day when it’s absence was noticed!

This has to be one of the loveliest campsites I've ever been to (and we've been to a few)! Lovely warm welcome, wonderful clean facilities and a fantastic location within easy walking distance of Dulverton and plenty of lovely walks. With pubs and cafes aplenty and a small supermarket. We'll definitely be returning here.

This was our first visit to Exmoor House site, but I can assure you it will not be our last. The whole site is 1st class, the toilets & showers absolutely spotless any time of the day. The surrounding area is outstanding, wonderful location for woodland walks etc. The site is situated on the edge of Dulverton, access to village and it pubs, shops, bakery, fish & chip shop & a CO OP store are all in easy well lit walking distance of the site. The wardens are very helpful a friendly in every way, the pitches are all level & gravel hardstanding, 2 toilet/shower blocks on the site, all in all a 1st class site. We will be back!

This is our second visit to this site the last time being a few years back and it is as nice as we remembered. The toilet blocks are spotlessly kept by friendly hard working wardens.
Dulverton is a lovely little village a few minutes walk away with delightful shops and the bakery is worth a daily visit but your waistline will suffer!
We tried to eat out at the local pub nearest the site but is was too busy so our advice is to book in advance.
There are lovely walks close by and the wild Exmoor country side is a short drive away.
We visited the National Trust properties of Knightshayes and Dunster Castle which are not that far by car and well worth seeing.
The only down side is the lack of visitor car parking as our son was visiting, but the wardens were very helpful and allowed him to park along side our caravan provided we fitted within the pitch.
The site was fully booked for the length of our stay but never appeared crowded or noisy.
I hope we will not leave it as long again to return to this lovely part of the country.

Been to this site now three times in the last six weeks, what a fabulous little site. Very close to the town of Dulverton, beautiful little place with everything you could want. We can highly recommend the pub called the Bridge lovely food and friendly staff. Back to the site, just what you would expect from the Caravan Club clean and tidy. My one and only gripe, the Warden who welcomed us could have done with a bit better approach to customer service, when our power cable didn't reach the bollard, and we did have a 25 meter cable, was less than helpful in her response to us (she did offer us a different pitch but it is how you deal with people). We will most certainly return to this lovely site.

We are regular visitors to Exmoor House, it being our favourite CC site and for us it just keeps getting better.
We've just had another 4 nights here over the early May bank holiday, and the weather was perfect (which always makes for a great stay!).
Arrival time is STRICT 1pm. After having a minor 'tangle' with a lorry driver on the road into Dulverton we arrived on site to the usual warm welcome(there are no problems with the small roads if you're careful and you don't meet another vehicle in a hurry!). Most pitches here are hardstanding and large (there are 5 grass pitches available I think should you prefer). Pitches all have EHU and TV hookup on each board. There are also a small number of 'all service' pitches available that include your own water and drain.
The site has 2 toilet/shower blocks, both spotless and welcoming! There is also a laundry and 2 indoor washing up areas, 1 of which is housed in the information room. Recycling is available and there is a small but functional dog walk on site.
The site is very peaceful, with just the sound of the River Barle that runs alongside the site and the abundance of birds (we heard owls most nights and the dawn chorus at 4:30am each morning was wonderful!).
The walking in the local area is fantastic. You can walk through Burridge Woods and there are circular routes directly from Dulverton.
Dulverton itself has all you could ever need. Four good pubs/restaurants (The Lion Hotel offers CC members 10% discount on food when your membership card is shown), plenty of tea rooms/coffee shops, a Co-Op (open all hours!) and a fabulous butchers (we can highly recommend their pork and caramalised onion sausages).
Although 'kick off' time was 12noon the wardens allowed us to stay until 3pm on Bank Holiday Monday, which we much appreciated.
10/10 from us all the way!

Access to this site is easy. Exit the M5 at junction 27 and follow the A361, A396 & B3222 towards Dulverton. Immediately after crossing the narrow bridge and before the Bridge Inn, take the left turn towards the site.
Treat previous reviews that talk about difficult access with a pinch of salt, if you are incapable of towing along these roads you should really question whether you should be towing at all.
The site is set very close to the village of Dulverton and adjacent to the Exmoor National Park HQ. View from the site are varied and interesting, looking out over the traditional buildings set in a backdrop of forested hills.
The site, which slopes very, very gently is open all year round and is designed to cope admirably. All pitches are generous in size and are hard standing with some even being fully serviced.
Surprisingly for such a small site with under 70 pitches there are two toilet blocks. Each one being immaculate at any time of day or night. The CCEP is under cover in a heated room.
It would be unfair to call the enclosed dog exercise area on site a dog walk, but it is certainly the best dog scamper I have ever come across! Longer walks are available direct from the site.
There is no play area on site, but just outside the gate is a play park and village green for ball games.
Reception sells very little, but with The village of Dulverton less than 100m from the site entrance via a shortcut through the car park and past the heritage centre, it does not need to. Dulverton has a range of small shops which includes a Co-op, butcher, grocer and newsagent amongst others.
The Bridge Inn serves god food and a selection of good beers. Dogs are welcome inside, but if yours are a little boisterous, there is a lovely beer garden set infront of the pub where you can watch the world go by. This area is heated by infra red heaters when required.
Exmoor and all it’s natural beauty is on your doorstep and the north coast of Somerset / Devon is a short drive away over the moor.
This site is a Gem, and is one we will be returning to.

Another return visit to this wonderful CC site for us - our favourite CC site of the lot!
Lovely wardens with a warm welcome! Only had a the choice of 3 pitches because they were packed (understandably!) so pitched up on exactly the same pitch we had on our previous visit!
I cannot find fault at all on this site. Everything you could possibly want on site and off site all within a 5 minute wander. Perfect for us motorhomers who don't want to drive around small country roads!
Both the wardens and the site are a credit to the CC network and we will keep on returning to this wonderful site.
