Visited this site as a weekend break ( saturday - tuesday)
First I would like to advise on the approach from the M5 take note of directions in the caravan club site book as some spots are a little tricky, especially Black cat crossroads, and the bridge by the anchor inn and at the bridge inn, and bear in mind you are on country roads take care.
We booked a service pitch which we would recommend as some standard pitches are a bit small while most are fine,
Don't arrive before 1pm you will not be allowed to book in before this time, wardens were very polite and helpful,
The village is very nice, we had fish and chips from the local chip shop (very nice)and reasonably priced.
Surrounding walks for ourselves and our dog were very good
Would recommend this site for a relaxing peaceful break.

Exmoor House is in Dulverton. The Caravan Club seem to have adopted a policy of re-naming some sites so that their actual location is more obvious - this could be a candidate for a name change.
Exmoor House itself was the old workhouse, and reading a the history of the place on the info board makes our social support systems seem very generous! The site is fairly small but well laid out, and there are two very up-to-date toilet blocks, so no pitch is more than a minute’s walk from one or the other.
The village of Dulverton is about 10 minutes walk and has pretty much all you will need, including a Co-op and a proper butcher’s. It was late June when we were there so of course it rained. A lot. We got very wet on a walk around Tarr Steps, but had a reasonably fine day for a visit to Dunster Castle (NT).
By the way, if you are tempted like us to call into Knightshayes Court NT property between Tiverton and Dulverton on your way with your caravan, be aware that the access road is very narrow and parking for caravans limited. We phoned ahead to reserve a place in the coach park. A coach driver warned us not to leave the property between about 3pm and 4pm on school days as the village at the end of the lane becomes grid-locked by parents’ cars. He spoke from experience!

A Lovely Caravan Club site, we have been visiting the area for years and seem to come back to this site time and again. It is very close to the village of Dulverton,
The Wardens are just wonderful, very warm and welcoming, plenty of space, great toilet block, lovely pub just down the road, and a little Co-op in the high street, plus a few other independent shops.
Roads are a little narrow, but they are country lanes, so you would expect it! what more could you ask for.
Plenty of places to visit locally, not too far from Minehead

Lovely friendly wardens greeted us, we were pretty late arriving at 5. 00 but they still had a smile and welcome for us. We were able to choose a pitch, there were a few to choose from. We were on hard standing backing on to the river, which you can't see really as there is a wall there (unless you look over it), it is noisy (the water) but it is a constant noise so we soon got used to it.
It's such a pretty little place and a real gem. We walked the Exe Valley Way to Exe bridge one day and then another walked to Tarr Steps and back (14 miles), the restaurant at Tarr Steps is lovely and are happy to have dogs inside and out. Dulverton has supermarket, chemist, greengrocers, bank etc so really quite self sufficient within a 3 minute walk. It's a very pretty area and we had a smashing time.
Facilities are very new and clean, plenty for everyone, never had to queue for anything. Individual shower cubicles with plenty of space, hair dryers, sink wash cubicles, washing up room, as well as little shop on site.
All in all a really great holiday, would recommend, peaceful (apart from river noise), very friendly site, well kept and super wardens.
No play area on site for little ones, but very close by is a lovely little park within 5 mins walk, right on the river and lots of lovely ducks to feed.

Left Lakeside CC site to go to Exmoor House. The journey was shorter than we thought and we ended up arriving about 25 minutes early. Bear in mind arrival time is strict (1pm) here so we sat in the motorhome and waited for the warden to arrive, there were 2 other units waiting in front of us who also thought arrival time was 12pm rather than 1.
Friendly greeting by wardens who advised what pitches were available. Very few left in fact, and considering what happened after we pitched up we were glad we arrived early!
Site set in lovely wooded valley location, even though it's just outside Dulverton town centre there was no road noise, or any other noise for that matter. We managed to book a fully serviced pitch and would recommend these to other users as they were looking down the valley and had grass either side of the pitch.
Some pitches here are not very nice and are just purely gravel (avoid the pitches that back onto the river) as these have no grass at all with just a small hedge in between units.
After we had pitched up (about 1. 15pm) it was bedlam with a 'free for all' of campers trying to get the best of the remaining pitches, surprisingly for a Sunday there was unit after unit coming in, endless ladies with maps running around the site standing in the free pitches to save them whilst their chaps drove around to meet them.
Avoid pitches 64, 65, 66, 67 - these were the worst on the park - resembled more of a car park area than pitches, no grass and no outlook.
Two toilet blocks on site, both of a high standard and spotless.
No satellite signal, so aerial leads required.
The only negative we could find was the dog walk - really no point in calling it a dog walk as honestly you could spit further! The CC should either take this information off their details of this site or make the dog walk bigger. Good walking off site through fields by the river though.
We would return to this site.

Just returned from a lovely week on this site. Usual Caravan Club facilities well maintained and a fantastic location especially for Motor Caravanners.
5 minute walk into the small town of Dulverton, with basic amenities, 3 pubs, Co-op, Chippy etc. Didnt seem to appeal to those with Children though as we didn't see any on site for the whole week, could be because there is no play area for them, although there is an excellent one a 5 minute walk away.
An excellent site for just relaxing, plenty of good walking routes and not too far to the North Devon coast and Exmoor itself. Resident wardens were friendly and helpful but last couple of days had relief wardens who were rude and typical 'jobsworth' which took the shine off a bit. Would definitely go back

This is a quiet Caravan Club site with lovely views all around. It is just a few minutes stroll from the small and pretty town of Dulverton which includes a supermarket (Co-Op), butchers, newsagents, bakers, health shop, chemist, greengrocers and a few other shops. There are restaurants, inns serving food and cafes within the town.
A river flows adjacent to the site but there is no access to it within the site. However, outside the gate there is a small parkland on the right with a couple of benches and there is access to the river near the bridge. Dogs are allowed in this area but must be kept on a lead. Our dog was able to go for a swim and paddle in the water on her long extension lead. There were plenty of birds to be seen in the trees alongside the river and they included a few tree creepers looking for insects as they made their way up the trunks.
The site was very clean and the wardens helpful and friendly. Most of the pitches were on hard standing.
There is plenty to beautiful countryside to see in the area and when we went in May there were bluebells in the woods both sides of the road as we drove around Exmoor. It was a sight to behold.
I have no hesitation in recommending this site.

As always with Caravan Club sites facilities absolutely spotless and clean. We came across wardens who were covering and they really helpful to us when we discovered we had left a piece of equipment at home.
The site is really handy for Dulverton where the pub in the centre - The Lion Inn - is excellent for reasonable food and it has a good atmosphere.
The site is very quiet and there were few children around when we were there. Lots of beautiful places to visit around and about either on Exmoor or on the north coast. Also good walks from the site. A river borders the site and attracts lots of wildlife.

Stayed on site over a weekend. On arrival the Wardens were a little officious and not very welcoming. Seems standard practice for CC Wardens, but they warmed up after a couple of days.
The site had a lot of spaces. Toilets were dated but clean. There were only two showers, but this was not a problem as no one seemed to use them.
The town is an easy walk and the White Lion hotel does good meals.
Could not get a mobile signal and radio was poor.
There are many walks from the site but the paths are very muddy so take wet weather gear.
When travelling to the site take care at the Black Cat junction. Do not go around the bend to the left, but go straight on for Lakeside.
If you like walking, you will love it.
Will go again

We arrived at 12.40 when it's strictly not before 1pm but we weren't bothered waiting 20mins. The warden wasn't very pleasant lecturing us about arriving early 'it's in the book you know' but we don't go for the wardens! This site is lovely. It was generally clean and tidy and the immediate surrounding area is superb. If you like trees you'll love it here. We thought we had plenty of room with a level hardstanding and reasonably private. Although the site is nicely tucked away a big plus for us is Dulverton town about 3mins walk away. If you're walkers and you want to buy stuff for picnics there's a good butcher and the most unbelievably excellent baker(you must try them)about ten minutes walk up the B3223. Tantivy's store opens about 6am for newspapers and milk etc. If you like walking you can leave the car and walk from the site. Otherwise try Lynton and Lynmouth, Porlock Weir and the whole of Exmoor. Now the bad news. The toilet blocks are not good. Quite pokey and not particularly clean. The showers really need doing up. Quite surprising for a C.C. Site and not at all up to their usual high standards. But this is not a major drama, don't let it put you off. You can even hear the sealions at night.
