 This was our 3rd stay at this lovely, little CC site. Friendly wardens and assistant wardens - always had time for a chat! Easy book in and we had a choice of 6 or so hardstanding pitches. We had a large corner pitch alongside the river (noisy at night according to OH but I didn't hear a thing - must've been the cider at the local?!). 2 small toilet blocks on site each with 2 showers, toilets and privacy cubicles with sinks (more in the bigger block than the small one). The smaller block needs updating but served the purpose adequately and I never had to queue for a shower or sink. Washing up area partly under cover at both blocks and plenty of bins, recycle bins and water points on site. Reception/shop has a few fresh items - fresh bread must be ordered the day before. You can also order papers. Small dog walk on site.

The town of Dulverton with it's shops, cafes, tearooms, pubs, hotels, etc., is just a short 5 minute walk directly from the site. There's a handy Co-op in the centre of the town and a Newsagents opposite. There are 3 doggie friendly pubs in the town too. Woods Bar (didn't test this one out personally as it was packed!), The Lion Hotel (10% off food and drink if you show your CC card!) and The Bridge Inn (closest pub to the site). We ate in both the Lion and the Bridge and both were really good for food, local real ales and cider. Both pubs also have gravy bones ready for any four legged visitors!

Note: There WAS a really good chippy in town too (Wiggys)but they had a serious fire there in early August and are now obviously closed! :o(

This site is perfect for a quiet, relaxing weekend doing absolutely nothing. We will be back!

 We are newbie caravaners, this was our third trip with the caravan, our other two breaks were local sites but this was our first long haul!, well 160 miles anyway.

Firstly, do follow the directions on the CC site but do not follow their sat nav directions. I downloaded the CC directions for my Navman and it wanted to send me up the narrowest of narrow lanes so beware.

This was our first visit to a CC site. The wardens were very helpful and gave us a choice of pitches but left us to it to go round and pick. Chose a hardstanding pitch next to the river which was OK, and a better choice than grass because of the rain!

I would describe the facilities as basic and dated, but very clean.

TV reception is digital via a socket in the electric hook-up post, signal is very good but digital only.

If you have children, note there is no play area on site but there is a small park within 5 mins walk on the opposite side of the bridge.

The village of Dulverton is very nice and has all necessary requirements e.G. Pub, supermarket, another pub, church, shops, galleries, exmoor tourist information, chippy and I think another pub.

 Agree with all previous reviews regarding Dulverton, the local pubs, walking etc. Would like a bit more privacy between units but otherwise the site had everything you would need and was very clean and tidy. The wardens were also very helpful.
However, I would like it mentioned again that mobile phones do not work in the area (unless on Orange apparently) although there is a phone box on site.

 Just spent two nights at this site truly wonderful, woke up with the dawn chorus and the sound of the river Barle was so soothing. Looking forward to going back again in the future. Very friendly wardens and exceptional grounds that are superbly kept.
The village of Dulverton is litteraly a minute away with all the amenities that are needed. The access to the site is well signposted - don't be put off by the narrow approach from the Exeter side just take it slow on the last few miles. The village of Dulverton is very small and towing through the village is not recommended as you are likely to cause a gridlock.
The site has not got very good TV reception and there is no digital reception. The site has a booster system for the analogue reception via the EHU posts. Leads are on sale at the reception.
The hardstandings are all fairly level and the sizes are very good. For a relatively small site the access is good on approach and on the site itself

 This is an excellent site, especially for winter breaks, with its wide areas of hard-standing covered in stone chippings. It is also very good for walking. The adjacent bridge across the river gives access to miles of riverside paths. You can go as far as Tar Steps and beyond, or make a circular walk taking in the heather-covered hills, with views all the way to Wales on a clear day.
For those who prefer kayaking, this is a popular starting point on the River Barle. The nearby Bridge Inn is also thoroughly recommended, serving locally sourced food at reasonable prices. Despite the comments here, it is not too overrun with dogs (not everybody is a dog lover!).

 I was looking forward to this site from the reviews so far it was looking good but I have to say I was a bit disappointed, though I will start with the good points;

The site is very near to the small attractive town where you could get most things as has been said, the wardens were friendly, Burrage woods is a nice place to walk, the pubs are dog friendly. Some of the pitches are nice (if your lucky enough to get one.)

Now for the not so good;

Though the pitches were generous I thought that some of the areas, particularly the area we were in was like a car park, there was a lot of gravel and not a scrap of grass by our pitch, it wasn't pleasant on a nice evening to sit and look at all this gravel. The dog was glad to get home and lay on our grass. We didn't get a choice of pitches because we arrived at 1 o clock, the arrival time it stated in the cc book, to find we were the last ones in that day and everyone else had arrived before the allowed time. (won't take any notice of that rule in future).

The facilities were NOT of the usual caravan club standards, they were clean but needed updating, showers had very poor water flow and they just looked a bit shabby, compared to a lot of cc sites I have been to which were excellent.

A lot of the prices in the town shops were hugely inflated (we are not all gullible tourists).

The town is pretty but at times manic in the day when you take your life in your hands around some of the narrow roads with no footpaths and cars going far too fast. At other times and at night it is so quiet it was like a ghost town, most nights the Bridge Inn was near empty even when they had live music on, you had to wonder where everyone was.

This was our main holiday and I didn't consider it was worth the six hours travel time to get there so I won't be visiting this site again, although if you live not far away it would make a very very very quiet weekend break.

 'A motorhomers heaven' this site! Just got back from our second visit here - my second review - sorry it's that good I think it needs shouting out loud! Great wardens. Big pitches. Fab facilities. Pub right outside the site (The Bridge) - very doggy friendly, great food (try one of their speciality pork pies!), beer and cider and 2 lovely warm woodburners going all day long! The 'town' is just 200 yards from the site and has all you need. Great little cafe, The Courtyard, that allows dogs outside and fab fish & chips from Wiggys! It also has a Co-Op and a couple of newsagents, plus 2 or 3 more pubs and another 2 cafes. Plenty for all! Loads of walking from the site, even in the tipping down rain (as it was on the Saturday we were there!). Wish we could've stayed longer as we met some lovely people there! Highly recommended.

 We spent the long Easter weekend at Exmoor House and had the most wonderful relaxing break! The welcoming from the wardens was warm and a credit to the club. The facilities are what one would expect from the CC and were spotless and adequate. The TV reception is dire but there are TV points on the EHU boards. Dont expect a mobile telephone signal here unless your with Orange, so it was the first time in years I have used a public telephone box!

The site is in walking distance to Dulverton, a small town which has a Co-op, a butchers and a great delicatessen. There is also a fantastic chippy. I highly recommend Lewis Tea Rooms and the Tongdam Thai Restaurant. They also do take aways.

We did some great walks over the moors from the site using walking routes provided by the tourist information office on Fore Street in Dulverton. All in all a great site, quiet and peaceful. Nothing there for the kids, but would definitely return one day.

 A lovely campsite with good facilities and a very friendly and helpful site manager. The site is right next to the attractive town of Dulverton and a good pub serving nice basic food is within five minutes walk away. Lots of hard standing areas and the gentle sound of the river to the rear of the site

 Used this site as a stop over for one night on the way back home to Scotland. The warden is lovely. Very helpful. The site was full and we were the only family on it which I think sums this site up (but don't let that put you off.) The facilities were clean and tidy but would benefit from expansion and modernisation as they were a bit under pressure. Smashing location, very peaceful and relaxing with the beautiful village of Dulverton right on your doorstep. There is playpark a short walk away and our children loved feeding the ducks on the riverbank. Would recommend to family and friends.
