We have just returned from a lovely 3 day stay here over the bank holiday weekend.
What a fantastic site, so much space!
Facilities are clean & tidy, plentiful amounts of hot water in washing up block.
One shower I had was a bit cold, but it was late morning so I must have been unlucky with my timing of the hot water. Others in our group who showered earlier that day didn't suffer the same.
Colin & Helen are both very nice and nothing seemed too much trouble.
What a location, lovely rugged coastal walks on the door step, the dog is glad to be home to have a rest.
We will definitely be returning.

Great camp site. Colin, Helen, family and staff very helpful and friendly.
Booked for 5 nights but ended up staying 8. Lovely clean facilities. On site shop very good and reasonably priced.
Lovely walk over 2 fields down to Hartland Quay and the South West coast path. We walked to Hartland Point and back one day which was lovely. Also near by is the pebble beach at Blackpool Mill which is also easy to walk to.
Highly recommend this site. Thank you for a great stay and the opportunity to be a judge for the Hartland Carnival.

Just returned from a week here. We were unsure of what to expect but booked the site after reading the reviews on here. The campsite can be found down a narrow winding lane after Hartland Village in Stoke. The Drive up to the main house / fields is a little rough and bumpy in areas.
From the minute we booked in we were greeted with an efficient and friendly service. Colin the farmer showed us to our pitch offering a choice. We had electric hook up. The pitches are huge and are set around the fields ( 3 to choose from). The centre of the fields are left empty so you can come out as far as you require. Plenty of space for kids and adults to play games. Playpark on one field.
There is a small shop on site selling essentials, homemade cakes, local sausages, burgers and bacon. You can even hire wood burners, buy logs and marshmallows and have a campfire! Papers can be ordered for a 10p delivery charge. Downside no sliced bread for sale ( would be good if could pre order this). Freezer, fridge, microwave and kettle facilities available which is fantastic.
The shower facilities are in the old milking shed for women outside block for men. Adequate rooms and initial problems with water pressure was sorted immediate once reported. Single loo for both sexes by showers in old bull shed ( love how they have used these buildings). Further toilets on camping field in hut with dishwashing room. Radio piped into all rooms.
All facilities were kept spotlessly clean and cleaned throughout the day. Dishwashing room even had drainers ( could do with a bin for food waste).
Local area - on coastal path can walk to local beach (rocky) but gorgeous scenery and rock pools. Hotel with bar, shop, toilets. Walk to waterfalls. Can walk into Hartland about 40min. Ideally need a car if staying here no local bus stop.
Did ask for information on weather and tide times and was told 'didn't know' we had no phone signal or wifi on site so would have been useful to have this information on a board somewhere.
Be aware due to position of site can be windy at times.
Definitely will return a hidden treasure

Excellent camp site and excellent hosts. Stayed 8 nights with great view of church from our pitch. Fortunate to have good conditions and very little rain. Facilities were good, toilets and washup room in the top field and showers down by the farmhouse reception.
Excellent little shop open twice a day with all essentials.
Visiting burger van was OK, nothing more than that.
Access to hartland quay is via a footpath from the top field and a great walk about a mile long, which leads to the wreckers retreat pub by the shore and the hotel. Very good quality food and ales.
All in all would return again without hesitation.

Only a weekend break but wanted remote, peace, quiet and somewhere that was less likely to have kids - it ticked all of the boxes!
We were sited in a small field with the two pixie huts and two grass pitch's which were away from the main camping and party fields (sounds ominous but the party field is huge with no EHU and very few campers)
Highly recommend The Sweet Chilli Beef Company who are on site every Thursday but were there unusually on the Friday we stayed - yummy, yummy food!
Owners, Colin & Helen, are very lovely, friendly and helpful but the site loses a few stars for facilities well, the ablutions to be precise. They are reminiscent of a 1970's camp site and are really limited in terms of space and comfort.
Generally, they have been converted from old farm buildings with the absolute basic facilities for example, there are only 4 very small male showers within a block that has stud walls with open tops and bottoms. Two have small chairs to sit down & dry your feet the other two, nothing and you will find it very drafty too! If you are a more robust individual, you will find it difficult to move around and there are no basins to have a wet shave. With only one toilet across the other side of the courtyard with a basin, would you really want to selfishly occupy it for a shave? Admittedly, there is another block of toilets and basins in another field about 250 meters away but you should not have to walk between the two to finish off your daily routine. The showers were not hot either and my wife was caught mid way, covered in suds when the water just stopped! She had to dry herself off with rather a lot of soap suds left too! On the subject of ladies, there are a total of three cubicles and again, only one toilet the others being sited in the main field next to the mens.
The location is amazing and the walk to Hartland Quay (20 mins) is very pleasant even if it is a little hilly coming back. It is also mid way between Bideford and Bude and very close to Clovelly which we highly recommend (ticket, £7. 00 for adults, is valid for two days in order to view all on offer).
The farm itself is a working farm so be prepared for the usual noises from livestock which for us, is not an issue.
A well stocked shop within the main farmhouse is open in the mornings until 1100 and in the evenings until 1800. No alcohol sold but local bacon/free range eggs are excellent and you can order fresh bread for the following morning which seems to be growing in popularity.
Would we return? No. Unless/if the showers and toilets were brought up to date which, when you consider the amount of buildings available would not be a logistical problem, purely a financial one which in the long term, would surely reap rewards.

Such a beautiful place for a campsite. I think it's everything a campsite should be. Peaceful! Never over crowded even at peak weeks. Visited twice this month, spending initially a week and then a long 4 night weekend, as could not wait to get back.
Owners are incredibly friendly and helpful and check to ensure all is ok for you. Small on site shop opens at either end of the day selling pretty much everything you might need. Facilities are basic but alway really clean and are checked regularly during the day. Small playground for kids too and plenty of space for them to run around - don't get me wrong that in no way means here are screaming kids everywhere! Beautiful surrounding area with lots of great things to do. Beautiful walks including to local bay which has amazing rock pooling to keep the children happy for hours.
Definitely planning to go back next year and lots more. A real understated gem that's good for the soul!

Just spent ten days at this wonderful campsite. Owners are really friendly and helpful, always stopping for a chat and recommend places to go. Showers basic but that did not bother us, Hartland Quay we really enjoyed and spent days at Westwood Ho and Tamar Lake. You will find Asda at Bideford & Morrisons at Bude. Roads narrow but we did not have a problem, make sure you take the turning before you go into the village it is signposted for Hartland with a coach sign.
We really enjoyed the evenings with a fire pit and star gazing towards Lundy island.
We will be back in the future.

Spent 7 nights on this site and had a lovely stay. Owner pleasant and helpful. Site had 4 different fields and very large pitches. Owner gave us a choice of pitch. Could see the sea and Lundy island from our pitch. This area of Devon is quite remote and quiet and good for walkers. Lovely short walk down to Hartland Quay through fields with fantastic views of coast. Nearest beach is not dog friendly. We had children and a dog so found ourselves travelling to beaches/towns most days so location a little too remote for us. But very pretty. There is a playground with a trampoline, swings and football goals for children. And huge fields to play in. Had to wait for quite a long time for a shower at busy time on weekend but other times no problem. Facilities were clean. Well stocked farm shop. With delicious home baked bread, cakes and scones! We visited Hartland carnival which was good fun.

We have just spent 3 nights at this site. It's OK but nothing to shout about. Good views along the coast to Lundy Island from these very exposed pitches. You can walk down a footpath from the site to Hartland quay & pub but the walk back is a bit of a hike. Overall it is ok for for a short stay but I don't think we'll be back because of its remote location (not much fun in motorhome on very narrow roads)
