Tanforhesgan is a lovely campsite it is set in a beautiful location. Nice and peaceful just as me and my husband like it.

We hadn't originally planned to stay there but we wish we had.

The owner greeted us and made us feel very welcome. She really couldn't do enough for us.

Tanforhesgan facilities had everything you needed and toilets and showers etc were kept very clean and tidy.

The value for money was brilliant so cheap just £5 a night for an adult. £60 for 6 nights for the two of us bargain!

If you have got children it is a really child friendly site.

I really would recommend this campsite we couldn't fault it at all.

If you like rowdy, crowded, noisy holiday camping this is definitely not the place to go ! Tanforhesgan is such a peaceful and relaxing place that we have booked to go back (we only cut our holiday short last time due to the incoming wind and rain and the inadequacy of our leaking tent which we have replaced).

The campsite is clean and tidy, well organised and well kept. The toilets and showers were few but spotlessly clean. There is a handy wash-up area and a washing machine and tumble drier - also spotless.

The owners ask for their campers to settle down reasonably early at night which suited us since we were camping with our 4 children. The field for tents is a lovely flat pitch and the kids were thrilled to have an open area to play. (Technically, there is no playground filled with 'equipment' but the whole place is a safe haven as long as you have children who behave well).

The surroundings are ideal if you like it beautiful, quiet, clean and friendly. The beach is a short car-ride away and is fantastic - we didn't leave there until 7pm. Shopping is sparse but this is camping so it didn't matter to us.

We were reluctant, in a way, to recommend this lovely place purely from a selfish point of view: we don't want it to fill up so we can keep going back!

Stayed for a week with no problems. Only £17. 50 per night for the four of us including electric hook up was very good value. Facilities were very clean if a little limited.

Three showers and two ladies loo's and one gents. 20p for showers was actually helpful in this instance as it helped keep showers brief and queues down. Free hot water for washing up, only one sink, and a washing machine and tumble dryer available at a very reasonable £1 for a wash (didn't use the tumble dryer).

No freezer but ice blocks can be frozen for a donation to a local charity if you ask nicely.

Camping fields are well kept, nice short grass and sandy soil so easy to peg out and drained very quickly when it rained (it is Wales!). Only minor criticism is that the electric hook ups are very close together and pitches quite small for a very large tent (Vango Vail 700) like ours. The non EHU areas seemed more spacious. Everybody, owners and fellow campers, was friendly and helpful and there was very little late night noise.

Nice walk up the little hill at the back of the campsite gave superb views over the bay towards Pothmadog and the Lleyn Peninsula and there is lots to do locally, beaches, castles, walks, steam railways, museums etc. Or do nothing if you prefer to take it easy.

I used to go to Tanforhesgan about 20 years ago, with my parents and brother, and spent many a happy summer playing on the farm.

I was delighted to find out that the site is still going and have just returned from a fantastic fortnight with my husband and children (6, 4 and 18 months). They love Tanforhesgan as much as I do and it was wonderful to see them playing on the farm the way I used to.

The owners are still as friendly & helpful as I remember them and the facilities are now even better.

The pot washing is good with plenty of hot water.

There is a washing machine, tumble dryer and hair dryer available to use at very reasonable prices.

The toilets are kept extremely clean and there are 3 very good showers which cost 20p.

There is also the lovely touch of a baby bath to use if needed.

We had mixed weather during our holiday but were never stuck for things to do.

Harlech is close by with its castle and beautiful beach. There is also a handy shop on the main road as you turn down to the beach.

We also visited Shell Island and found a stretch of beach with lovely sand and rock pools (which the boys loved!).

Porthmadog is the nearest town. It has a range of shops, cafes, fish and chips and a decent sized Tescos.

During our stay we also visited Anglesey, Bangor, Pwllheli, Caernarfon, had a wonderful ride on the Ffestiniog railway and a visit to the LLechwedd Slate Caverns.

All in all, Tanforhesgan is a fantastic base for a holiday in North Wales.

We stayed here for 2 nights - myself, my 2 children and 2 dogs.

The site is fabulous - immaculately clean with superb facilities. Laid back, relaxed atmosphere meant for a lovely spring break.

All 3 generations of the hosts were friendly, helpful and welcoming.

We were lucky enough to watch the lambing which was an unexpected joy, and we never at any time felt we were intruding on the family.

The location is just lovely - surrounded by hills and fields and just minutes from Harlech beach.

Superb spot, fantastic facilities, friendly and helpful hosts which all means we will definitely be back.

A lovely sight close to Harlech, Barmouth, Porthmadog, Portmerion.

The lady and her daughter couldn't do enough to make our stay enjoyable.

Hot showers available costing 20p which is nothing. Only 2 toilets which we did have to queue up at times, but something you can cope with to over ride the benefits of a lovely site.

Some lovely walks around the site, we even managed to climb the large hill at the back of the site which gives 360 degree views of the area. The site is very open and did get very windy.

If you are wanting a base to visit this area I would recommend this site, we would certainly visit again.

Just returned from a fantastic weeks camping. I rang the site the morning I was leaving, there was no answer, however seconds later the site owner rang me back and gave me directions etc. When we arrived the site was nice and flat with well kept grass the site owner was a lovely lady who made us feel really welcome she even sorted us out with electric hook up from a pitch that was being used by a caravan on a long term pitch. The showers and toilets were kept spotless I would of liked more wash basins in the mens showers but that's a petty criticism there were was also a wash room for dishes and a washing machine, dryer, ironing board and iron and information board. There are chickens with newly hatched chicks in the site owners garden the kids love them. There are lots of nice walks at your door step with the best views you can imagine. Local shops were only 2min drive away. I recommend this site for the area, the cleanliness of the whole site, the friendliness of the site owner who works hard to run the site.

Just had 2 weeks here fab place. Peace & quiet big time.New loos & shower opened while we were there showers are 20p a go that was plenty for us & loads of room! One of the fields was flat the other had a slight slope we had to use chocks. It can get windy so you need to secure awnings well.Lovely views all round & climb the hill on a clear day the views are fantastic.Beware if you use sat nav (like us!) it will take you in the back way not recommended for caravans wait til you see the site sign(next turning if you come from Porthmadog) All the owners & family are lovely so helpful, our car broke down & Mrs Williams called the garage man & spoke to him for us. Lots to do in the area.Lovely ice cream in Harlech. Or just sit & stare as we did. We will go back as will our friends who visited while we were there.

Having frequented this site repeatedly over the last few years, I was pleasantly surprised to find that a new shower and toilet block have been built. That was however until I needed to use the toilet, when I met another gentleman who was walking round in circles looking for a toilet that included a sink and did not require us to wait for a family of five to finish their evening ablutions before we could wash our hands!

I was also surprised to see how close we campers are now being allowed to pitch alongside caravans

This site is in a beautiful setting in a wonderful part of Wales, it’s just in need of appropriate signage, rule setting and male friendly toilet facilities.

This is one of the very best sites we have visited. An absolute gem of a place. Access is easy and the site is flat. The owners were very friendly and very helpful. We found the current toilets and showers to be absolutely spotless and in good condition, but the owners have now also added a new shower block and toilets and these were excellent too. The showers cost 20p a go and we found you got a great shower for 40p.
We were very impressed with the washing-up facilities, the best we have come across yet in our travels, with plenty of hot water and even a couple of bowls, and as an added bonus, there is also a building with use of washing machine, tumble dryer and iron, with plenty of reading material and local information leaflets.
We had a fair amount of rain but the field dried very fast as it is sandy soil. Fantastic views, very peaceful and also dog friendly, though we encountered no dog fouling. We will return !
