Had a fantastic week at Lee Meadow 19th-25th July, it couldn't have been better in fact!

We stayed on the bottom field in our tent, and hired a fire pit for the week (great idea!) the weather was amazing so we were able to have a bbq each night.

The toilet/shower block was great, showers are amazing :-) Fresh eggs on site that you help yourself to, leaving your money in the honesty box.

Trudy and Matt are lovely and really welcoming, and we loved the little cat who visited us a couple of nights and sat on our lap round the fire! (We nicknamed her 'Ginger'). We will definitely be returning, hopefully next year!

Did a few walks in the area, recommend the walk down to Lee Bay from the campsite, and also Morte Hoe to Lee Bay along the coast. The Valley of the Rocks is a good walk too if you don't mind a short drive to get there. We bought a good walking guide/map from a lovely little craft shop in the old school house in Lee.

The cycle path down to Ilfracombe is easily accessible though the steep hill back up to the start if the path is a killer pushing a bike, particularly as the sun was blaring down, but once we were cycling along the path it was fine, just a slight incline.

The tunnel beaches are well worth a visit, though a seagull did snatch a sarnie out of my hand so be careful when waving food around!

Combe Martin is nice too, though if it's golden sand you're after then try Woolacombe or Croyde.

All in all an amazing week, we were really sorry to come home.

This was my first go at solo camping - well I did have my two dogs for company but I was a little apprehensive. However I soon felt completely at home thanks to the welcome from Trudy and Matt. They were very helpful showing me where I could walk the dogs straight from the campsite. 'Go down through the trees, it's quite nice' said Matt. QUITE nice! It's stunningly beautiful.

The campsite itself has plenty of room, lots of electric hookup sites and fairly level pitches. The toilets are clean and plenty of free hot water. It is in a beautiful part of Devon - I shall definitely be back - maybe even later this year if I can find time.

Just returned from another fabulous stay at Lee meadow Farm can't believe the eggs are still as tasty as we remembered! and the alpacas are out of this world there were 3 new additions during our stay beautiful Matt was very busy looking after them the Heard is about 60 plus now! toilets and showers always clean and lovely and hot the camp fire kept us warm in the evening toasting marshmallows was great fun. Huge pitches plenty of room this site is a credit to Woolacombe exactly what a family is looking for non commercial traditional camping really friendly site. The walk to lee amongst the woodland is a must ask the owners for help and they are only to pleased to help beautiful surroundings visit the alpacas is a must if you are in the area but to camp near them is amazing

We stayed here for 11 nights in August, the owners give a very warm welcome and are always friendly and happy to help. Showers seem to have hot water in abundance and they are kept clean as are the toilets. The eggs available from reception are very tasty & large (we bought some home with us too). We were in the bottom field and had a torrential downpour the day after we arrived, but the ground fared very well and was quick to drain once the rain had stopped. There is plenty of room for ball games on the field in front of the reception.

Tesco isn't far away for a big shop if needed, Ilfracombe has a co-op and I think there is a Costcutter or something similar in Woolacombe. Lynton and Lynmouth are definitely worth a visit although parking can be difficult in Lynmouth and the road down to Lynmouth is very steep, we parked up the hill in Lynton and walked down the footpath and then caught the water powered Victorian Cliff Railway car back up the very steep hill!

We will definitely be returning as it is a very relaxed atmosphere which is just what you need for a great holiday.

For the second year running we found this site to be everything we could wish for :) Owners were sooo welcoming and informative about surrounding areas; places to visit, pubs, local roads and walking routes etc.

The toilets and showers were always really clean and well stocked for toilet paper, soap and hand towels. The site is spotless and incredibly well maintained, you can hire fire pits and buy additional logs (very reasonably unlike some other places!)

We were on a non-electric grass pitch in a tent. A couple of days of freaky weather (Ilfracoombe flooded)But the weather in no way spoiled our enjoyment - other campers were very friendly and the children were all playing together (we didn't have our children with us this time but will next year) Trudy and Matt couldn't have changed the weather for us (but if they could they would!) We absolutely love this site and will be going again next year with (hopefully) most of the family. We cannot recommend it enough. The surrounding area is amazing with plenty of beautiful beaches, shopping and lots to see and do - you have to visit Lynton and Lynmouth - their water powered cable car/railway is fantabulous :)Superb, just wish we could find one this good closer to us for weekends as N. Devon (5hrs on a good run) too too far for a weekend! :(

What a lovely camp site, they don’t get much better than this. Matt and Trudi make you feel very welcome. Site divided into 2 parts. We liked the big field, loads of space, Alpacas and horses for company. Good showers and toilets, hire fire pits and buy wood and enjoy camping how it should be. Washing up facilities very good, no shortage of hot water. I would recommend booking as they only have a limited number of pitches available due to council red tape (which doesn't seem to limit the eyesore of static and caravan sites) however that means loads of space. We are experienced campers and know a good site when we see one. Well drained in the top field despite 2' of rain falling in 24 hrs. As soon as it stopped raining the surface run off stopped, not sure how the bottom field faired though. It flooded round the barn during the downpour but that drained quickly soon after (they were still pumping water and mud out of the Lidl in Ilfracombe 6 hours later by comparison) and our new tent (Vango Astoria 800) withstood the wind and monsoon like conditions with flying colours). Loads of space in the well mowed field for playing Frisbee and cricket etc. Great access to all the major body boarding beaches as well as other attractions (Dunster, Lynton etc)

A long way off from the nearest main road so traffic noise was 99% no existent.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this site to anyone of any age group with or without children.

We really liked this site. Friendly and relaxed with large grassy pitches, some with electric hook up. The facilities were clean with excellent showers. We loved watching the alpacas and horses and having the chance of buying free range eggs from this organic farm. We will definitely stay there again. Lee Meadow Farm campsite takes five motor-homes and twenty tents so there is plenty of space between the units. Although the camp-site is in the countryside it only takes ten minutes approximately to get to Croyde or Saunton Sands. The owners took time to chat to us and make us feel really welcome.

What a lovely, friendly site. Set back from the main road it is nice and quite and the surrounding countryside is beautiful, although as others have mentioned no sight of the seaviews that are seen on the website!

The approach to the site is down a narrow road, but there are plenty of passing points and so should be fine with caravans and motorhomes. The cycle track to Ilfrombe is just at the end of the site and is a lovely walk down into ilfracombe. We got a taxi back to the site as the weather turned very wet and it cost £13 which was much more than we were expecting. It was a Sunday though so maybe an increased fare? There are buses but they don't run on a Sunday.

There have been issues raised in other reviews with regards to the toilets and washing up area. I think there must have been work done on these recently as there is now a cover over the washing up area, which was great as we got a lot of rain! There are also screens in front of the ladies toilet door making them much more private.

The showers and toilets are kept really clean and there is always loo roll as well. The shower doors aren't full length but this really wasn't a problem. All people can see are your feet and I don't see how they expose your head unless you're seriously tall.

The only problem I found with the showers is that the water shoots out at quite a severe angle and so the spray tends to get your shoes and clothes wet. I just wore old tracksuit bottoms and a hoodie and changed in the tent. There is also only one hook but you can put things over the door and pop your shoes just under the door to keep them as dry as possible. You just have to think logistically, but this is something campers should be used to!

The other issue that parents of small children may have is that there is no temperature control and I found them quite warm. Having said that though there were lots of children on the site and I didn't hear any tears or tantrums in the showers! There are six toilets and showers for women and I never had to queue once. There is just one set for men so I assume three showers, but once again my partner didn't have to wait either.

There are EHU available, we didn't bother and were told that we could pitch anywhere in the middle of the field but were asked to stay within the marked out pitches on the edge. These were huge. We have a Virginia 5 tent and had loads of room left over for the car and to sit outside and play ball games.

The field is pretty much flat and the grass is kept nice and short. We had a lot of rain and had no issues with mud. There is a field next to the main camping field where people took their dogs to run around and play football etc. There is no playground that I could see but plenty of space for ball games.

With regards to facilities Matt ad Trudy run a small snack bar. We had breakfast there on the first morning, two sausage and egg cobs, a tea and an apply juice was around £7 I think and was really nice. They also sell ice creams and have campfires and wood to hire for £10.

There is now a washing machine and dryer, which are run on tokens. I didn't use them so don't know how much they are but I did hear Trudy telling another lady that she would keep an eye on her washing ad transfer it for her which was really nice of her. There is also a hairdryer which is £1 a token then I didn't use. You can have your ice packs frozen and you pay £1 when you collect them. There are no plug sockets for the use of your own hair dryer but this is probably to cut electric costs and keep the camping cost down.

Matt and Trudy were great, really welcoming and knowledgeable about the area. They were happy to help out, lending us a corkscrew which I had forgotten (I know, rookie mistake!) and a large screw driver to try and get the pegs out when we took the tent down. (we had had to use the really long pegs due to the high winds we experienced).

The site is really well positioned for seeing the surrounding areas. Woolacombe has a lovely beach but as previously mentioned car parking is expensive unless you are planning to make a day of it on the beach. In both Ilfracombe and Woolacombe parking is free after 6pm so great for an evening stroll.

Croyde beach is also lovely. We went to visit Clovelly but it was £6. 50 each to go into the village, being on a budget we didn't want to pay that so decided to just take the next turning we saw towards the coast and ended up at a beautiful village called Bucks Mill.

This is also pretty much traffic free and is so pretty and free! You can walk down to a rocky cove and clamber on the rocks and the stream that runs through the village forms a waterfall over the cliff. When you've made the climb back up from the cove there is a tiny ice cream shop which was delightful.

I have already recommended this site to my parents who are planning to go away in their caravan in September. We loved it and at £10 per night for two people in high season it was an absolute bargain. If you're looking for a laid back, no frills campsite away from the large, overfilled, commercial sites in North Devon then this is the place for you!

We stayed at Lee Meadow for the Jubilee Week.

Even though the weather tried to blow us all to Wales we still had a great time. The site was very friendly and the pitch size was very good.

It was a great location for walking, cycling or general touring- so managed to see loads in between the raindrops and force 8 gales. !

Would happily go back and many thanks for a lovely stay. Deb and Paul Hansel
