Having read mixed reviews I had to give our experiences of this site.
We stayed 5 nights over the very busy Jubilee Bank Holiday long weekend and had 2 tents in the smaller field with electric hookup. We had a very warm welcome and staff were always friendly.
Admittedly, I often had to report that paper towels and soap had run out; and also report problems with 2 of the 4 portaloos, but once pointed out staff were grateful and things were dealt with.
We did not experience any noise problems, all went quiet from 11pm - 7:45 / 8:00am.
Ground was hard but we took a mallet and have strong pegs!
I agree the lack of an outside or front door on the toilet blocks made them a little chilly at times. There were 2 ladies units next to each other, with 3 loos and showers in each. Showers were always hot (and mud/grass in the block, is expected while camping and I always take cheap flipflops to wear in the shower)
The shower door itself did expose your head and feet but did not prove a privacy issue. There were hooks to hang bags while showering.
Shelves, hooks and mirrors would have been of benefit by the 2 washbasins, which were always soaking on the surround due to the push-down taps that splash water (Take an old hand towel to mop up so you can put your sponge bag somewhere dry). No hairdryers
The cafe and snack bar seemed to do a good trade but we didn't use it. The washing up area was not undercover but we always had hot water. No sea views, but handy for a cycle route and down a lane so no road noise.
Ilfracombe is a quaint village with pretty harbour, history, swimming pool and gardens. Barnstaple has a larger swimming pool and sports centre and beside the river a free museum of Devon history which are both good on wet days.
Woolacombe has a huge beach and ideal for families because of various sized rock pools for young children to paddle or even swim. Lovely coastal walks.
I would go again, but admit I have stayed in both more basic and more upmarket campsites.

We have just returned from a weekend camping trip staying 2 nights. The pitches which are mostly level and on mowed grass were huge, we were a large group so we had plenty of room to spread out and even play ball games.
The toilet block was always very clean and the free showers were hot and powerful also very spacious cubicles. The washing up area had good sized sinks and plenty of draining area.
The highlight of our weekend was being able to hire a fire pit and logs and sit around the fire chatting in the evening, quality family time.
This campsite has such a relaxed feeling to it and that is down to the owners who were so friendly and very helpful, we will definitely be going back, especially as the prices were excellent value for money.

We spent a week in Woolacombe. £10 per night for 2 Adults BARGAIN We had 2 pitches which we didn't need but Teenage Girls wanted to be in their own tent next to us. The site was in a great location and the owners were a great help with anything we needed. I felt I had to add a review after reading the latest. I think if matt and Trudy could of changed the rain and wind for us they would have!
The showers were always hot even on the extra busy bank holiday and also very clean and tidy and always smelt great. They are basic but ideal, my teenagers said they were great. You can see your feet and your head not really a problem
The site was exactly what we expected and what we were after traditional grass field camping. The pictures on uk campsite are of the pitch we were on huge! We hired a Camp fire Toasted marshmallows it was lovely.
The atmosphere was wonderful and by 10pm all was pretty quiet every night. May be could do with a tumble dryer and hair dryer/drying room for the extra wet days but Mat directed us to the nearest launderette in Woolacombe so that was fine.
Woolacombe beach is Lovely and the walk though the Woods from the campsite to Lee village is enchanting. Woolacombe Horse ride across the beach is a must Ilfracombe Tunnels Beaches and boat trip on King Fisher was Great.
All in all a great time had by all but the weather was awful!Think that was what probably upset the other reviewers. Not this lovely site. We will returning soon!

We visited this campsite after being recommended by friends and was exactly what we where looking for a basic campsite with no commercial factors to it exactly what camping is all about.
Unfortunately the weather was very wet but what a fantastic job the owners did maintaining the cleanliness of toilets and facilities during what must of been the busiest weekend of the year with 100 or more campers running around the site muddy and wet. And still they kept every ones spirits high making us feel very welcome.
We did get a couple of dry spells which where great, we visited some local areas with lots to do for the children and all in near surroundings.
We have booked again for august and can't wait!
Our children are especially excited about having their marshmallows around the campfire and not forgetting the alpacas.
A true British camping experience.

We chose this site for a short 4 night break due to its location to the coastal paths which we intended walking. Unfortunately due to the poor weather & forecast we only stayed 2 nights.
The site is down a country lane and is basically farm fields with a barn converted to house the facilities.
A friendly welcome greeted us and we were shown to a very large pitch + EHU. Our tent is long but even with the car parked longways there was still plenty of room. This is probably the biggest positive I can say about this site.
The pitches are marked out by where the grass has been cut but this means that the grass was far too long on the actual pitch.
The site has a takeaway service which we didn't use but did seem popular.
There didn't appear to be any noise control at night so if you are a camper that believes that there should be no noise after a certain time then you will be disappointed. I'm not saying the noise we experienced was too disruptive but it will keep light sleepers awake.
As mentioned by other reviewers, the dish washing facilities are outside and uncovered. Not very clever considering the British weather. Also the hot water was warm, not hot enough for washing up the greasy stuff, best use a kettle.
The biggest disappointment for us was the toilet/shower facilities. They were clean enough and the water was hot but my gripe was the doors, or lack of them to be precise.
You have to pass the ladies facilities to get to the gents and the dish washing area and neither of the ladies block has a front door on them making a not very private area. What makes it worse is that the doors on the shower cubicles have a 2 foot gap at the bottom and are about 5 & a half feet in height.
I mention this because I work with 15-17 year old's and see this has a potential issue but if you are laid back about this type of thing then this site is a very good basic site. Unfortunately its the one thing that puts us off returning.

We have just got back from staying at this site and unfortunately we were a little disappointed with our stay….
The site itself is a farm field and was very uneven, the ground would have benefited from being rolled a couple of times. I personally don't think it was appropriate to have tents pitched on it in that state. The grass was also far too long and the drainage was poor, after a couple of heavy downpours there were deep pools of water all over the field.
Other people have mentioned the washing up area, so I won't go on about that, save to say it's nicely done but I have no idea why it is not covered. We got soaked twice doing the dishes.
The toilets were filthy with no hand soap in the dispenser during the whole of our stay and hand towels were a rarity. I just don't think there is any excuse for it, it is a basic requirement and this is what you are paying your money for. There are no doors to the various toiled blocks either, again other people have mentioned and like them I just don't understand why this is the case?
The general look of the place is untidy and unlike the website banner showing a nice picture of the coastline you cannot see the sea from the fields you are camping in.
On the plus side however the situation of the site enables you to get to all the main villages and towns easily and the owners are very friendly. I just wish they would address these fundamental points and perhaps they would get more positive feedback from their clientele.

We went to this site over the long jubilee weekend.
We had booked a few pitches together and we were basically allowed to chose where to go, which was great. However, I felt there were more pitches than normal marked out as the spaces felt quite small and we felt a bit packed in. Also, the pitches were in the middle of the field as well as round the edge, so there was no large open space for the kids to play.
The facilities were fairly basic, an uncovered washing up area seems a bit short sighted and the shower/toilet areas felt quite open as mentioned in another review through lack of doors. The water was warm, but not hot the times I showered/washed up. 4 portaloos had been bought in for the bank holiday weekend, but 2 of these were out of order after a day or so!
I also agree with a previous comment about noise control, we had music playing near us until well into the early hours.
The owners were friendly and we hired a fire pit one night which was great.

After spending a weekend away with my family I thought I would review this site to help the owners improve where needed and also praise.
We did book this site as it stated sea views which are completely non existent when you arrive I'm afraid.
We were greeted by the owners who are lovely and very helpful which makes a change from some of the site we go to. The pitches were large but as a few have mentioned need to be cut.
The weather luckily was lovely but can imagine when raining this would cause a problem when walking back and forth to the amenities.
The amenities are good & free, you need to be there early to make the most of the hot (and I mean very hot for the men anyway) first thing which then gradually reduce as the morning goes on (obviously) to tepid. I agree around the wash basins some shelving needs to be provided to keep your washbags dry etc. The sink facilities are plentiful however not much fun I can imagine washing up with no cover when it rains.
We did experience noise from a few revellers until 1. 30am ish which is a problem with a young family but we didn't let it spoil things.
Overall I would say it was an Ok site but I wouldn't rush back.

Made to feel very welcome. A clean and safe site for children. Who also love the cafe. They make fantastic bacon and egg butties for breakfast, plus lots of other food and hot drinks available.
The fire pits and the selling of logs is a simply fantastic idea. Sat around many in the evenings with a drink and an assortment of children from other tents melting marshmellows.
A very relaxed site and well located. Could not hear local traffic and easy to get to the various beaches and surf the day away, to return to a warm smile and a hot shower.
The pitch sizes are huge. We booked for 14 nights and stayed another couple of days extra, with no hassle or having to more pitch.
We did not want to visit and local city, but it was close enough for things. Some friends were staying with us and went to Barnstable. Nice local towns and a Tesco is 5 mins away.
We will be visiting them again. A good dite and well priced.
