Delighted to make a return trip to Herons Pond for a long weekend in March. As you would expect from this site, everything was in tip-top condition ready for the season - meadow mowed, new chippings on the dog run, beautifully clean shower and toilets. Well maintained sanitary area. Always lives up to expectations, thank you.

Good local shops 5 minutes away in Bedale, perfect for access to Leyburn, Wensleydale and Hawes. (As favoured by the 2014 Tour de France)

Lovely site. Nothing to add that others haven't already said. Excellent location, very peaceful, informal and relaxing! Facilities perfectly adequate - nothing fancy, but clean and spacious. Not too far from A1 so ideal stop on our way up to Scotland. Thank you to the owners for getting it just right! We intend to go back for longer next year.

Lovely site, just perfect, total peace and quiet, the views are good, you can look over herons pond and watch the heron come in, sometimes a kingfisher appears but we did not see it. Really friendly owners who see you as you arrive and then leave you alone until the day you are coming home when they say goodbye. Toilets and shower facilities excellent they want for nothing.

Will certainly be going again next year.

This was a lovely site well maintained. Showers were wonderful they were very clean it was like walking into your own bathroom at home. All pitches had their own water tap which was excellent. Very peaceful and quiet lovely owner. We would definitely return. The village was lovely but the local pub seemed to open at odd times but then living near London we are used pubs being open all day. This was a good base to see the Yorkshire dales.

Great place to stay, The site was well laid out and private, our pitch was very private and close to the showers, these were clean and gave a great shower, plenty of hot water and very spacious, The owner was very informative and had real character. This is a site worthy of a re-visit. The area around the site was dog user friendly with lots of poop scoops and seats to rest and admire the vista, Beware the heron, although there is a real one which visits regularly don't make the mistake of spending half an hour to get the great picture only to find that the bird in question is plastic. Plenty of laughs over that one. The site is just one big plus and a must for adults who like peace and quiet.

Loved this site, it's a must for dog lovers. The site is spacious and very well set out. The toilet blocks/showers are immaculately clean. The dog walk is lovely and so handy for each pitch. We had electric hook up and our own drinking water tap which was much appreciated as you didn't have to fill up your water barrel then carry it back to your pitch. It's a very quiet site and very peaceful. We walked to the nearest pub on the Saturday but it was shut, shame as we would have liked a pint or two. Will definitely return soon. If you want a good view of the pond pitches 1-5 are the best option.

Best long weekend we have spent on any site before. Not to repeat what has previously been said about the site / facilities / owners etc. They are correct. This site is a hidden gem which we will be returning to time and time again. This is a place where you are so chilled you can freeze.

The dog walk is fantastic and it gets a 10 paw rating.

It is a pity that the site is not open all year as it would be glorious in winter, so roll on next march so we can get back

Spent the week end at this fantastic site, I'm going to call it my piece of heaven.

The owner comes to greet you after you've set up very friendly saying if he can help you with anything please ask him.

Nice small site only 9 pitches and No screaming kids running round, since mine have grown up you don't want to be putting up with other peoples kids who are sent out to play.

I wouldn't change a thing with this beautiful site great walks from the site.

We will be going to this site again many times

Thank you

We hit the jackpot with this site & weekend. Absolutely glorious weather and a gorgeous adult only & very dog friendly site. The shower/ toilet facilities are the best I have ever seen in a campsite. The individual water points are a bonus. A lovely dog walk & secure field for your dogs to play in, as well as plenty of poop bins & scoops. The scenery is beautiful, lovely landscaping with a pond and trees around.

There is no shop on site but it's not to far to the nearest village. Definitely a one to go back too.

What a lovely find. We have just spent a great 2 weeks at this beautiful site. The owners are very friendly and welcoming. Upon arrival you pick up your envelope telling you your pitch number, set up, and then put your pitch fee monies in the envelope provided and post in the little post box. Each pitch has its own water tap & ehu.

Facilities are immaculate with free showers and plenty of hot water. We were fortunate to be overlooking the pond, and so enjoyed seeing the heron who visited most days.

We followed the directions given in a previous review and found it spot on.

There is a car boot sale on in Bedale on Saturdays during the season. In Bedale we can recommend both fish & chip shops & the Farmhouse bakery & tearooms, where you can get a delicious

All day breakfast.

Would we come back again ? we most certainly would.
