We have just returned from this wonderful little site. It is one of the nicest sites we have stayed on. The pitches are very large with own water tap and picnic bench. Richard the owner is very friendly and helpful and was a delight to talk to. The toilets and shower are kept clean with fresh flowers. Lots of good dog walks in the area and excellent dog walk on site.

Bedale is a small market town but you can get everything you need there. Recommend Aunt Sallys tea rooms in Bedale, lovely food and friendly service.

We had a fantastic relaxing 12 days at Herons Pond and look forward to returning next year.

A lovely peaceful site small and very friendly, first time out with a caravan, owners very friendly and helpful, everything needed for a relaxing time.

Our first visit but definitely wont be our last to this wonderful site. Lovely walk for dogs and field for them to run in, bins for dog waste set at intervals so site was clean.

With this being such a peaceful site plenty of wildlife to be seen Heron, Swan, various birds, rabbits, owl, fox and bats so plenty to watch as you just sit and relax, pitching area spacious and clean with table to sit at.

This site is a lovely secluded site - very peaceful. It has lovely big pitches - a number of which overlook a large pond and grassy areas. Each pitch has it's own water supply and picnic area.

There is plenty of local info available in the info hut together with a small library of books to borrow. Basic facilities but always kept clean. An added bonus is an excellent private dog walk for campsite visitors which leads into a large open field where dogs can be let off for a good run round!

Lovely market town nearby and well situated for exploring this part of North Yorkshire.

We booked this little site on the strength of the previous reviews and we weren't disappointed!

All that has been said before I can only reiterate and to add my appreciation of the ambience of this lovely place.

All the pitches were spacious with views of the pond and surrounding countryside. We particularly appreciated having our own water tap and the picnic table and bird feeders were a lovely touch. The location was ideal - well away from any main road and all you could hear was birdsong and lambs bleating.

The owners had gone to a lot of trouble to make this special place an oasis from everyday life and we loved every moment of our stay there and wished it could have been longer. We also greatly appreciated the thoughtful provision of the dog walk and the field where they can run free. We had our 2 young cocker spaniels with us and at this time of year it was near impossible to find a walk where they could run free, so they had the time of their life here. All this and at a very reasonable rate too.

It was an added bonus to find the friendly owner was a born and bred Isle of Wight man and used to live just 5 miles down the road from our home.

This site a a little piece of heaven. Didn't want to leave review really as we want to keep this site for ourselves. The owners have thought of everything to make this site as near perfect as possible. View to die for, so so peaceful loads of places to walk and Richard pointed us on the right directions. The weather was very kind to us too. Cant wait to return. Thanks again

The weather was great when we visited and no doubt that only added to the feelings we had about this terrific little site. There's so much room between pitches and its all immaculately kept. Only one shower room for the site but as there are only 9 pitches it's just about enough.

There are no dish washing facilities for those who want the 'whole package' and if that's all I can find to complain about then clearly there's not much wrong.

Crakehall village is maximum 10 minutes walk away although we never saw the pub, mentioned in other reviews, open. It seems to keep it's own hours - whatever they are! Don't let that put you off though. Bedale is 2 miles away and 5 minutes in the car and there are plenty of shops and eating places there.

We have just returned from one night at this lovely site. Did get lost on the way - do not trust sat nav - but once we got there it is idylic.

Very well kept without the sterility of more corporate sites, good space between pitches, own picnic table and tap. Great dog walk into fenced off paddock (very dog friendly site).

The facilities are immaculate and to a good standard.

There is a pub at the bottom of the road (would guess 10 mins walk maximum)but we haven't had chance to try it yet.

Hopefully booking again in the next couple of weeks for a full weekend once we have called to apologise for leaving 2 hours late - didn't see the sign that says to be off by 11.45 until we were leaving at 1.45 - wandered why the on site warden was looking over our way.

Would definitely recommend this site if you want a nice peaceful place to get away from it all.

Just arrived back from Heron's Pond site (Bank Holiday) week. Lovely site - adults only - so peaceful, with views over the pond and beyond. Had a lovely welcome on arrival. Pitches are very well sited - complete with own water tap and picnic table.
Easy to get to surrounding areas. Bus to Hawes - via Leyburn etc every hour (free if you are in receipt of a bus pass!) so was able to leave the motorhome on site (being green!) Bedale only 2 miles way - used to walk there and catch the bus back. Can recommend for a relaxing week.

Lovely, small, peaceful site. All amenities available including information hut. A dog walk is included and safely enclosed leading onto a large field.
The owners are very friendly and helpful. Full range of digital tv channels available with a digital aerial. Crakehall is the nearest village within 20 minutes walk.
The Bay Horse is reported to be a good PH with excellent food. The Crakehall petrol station sells a good range of fresh groceries, but Bedale is 2 miles away and offers an excellent farmers type market. We will return.
