A fantastic campsite with beautiful toilet and shower facilities a right good touch having a washing machine in the same block. Angus the owner and his wife are a lovely couple and are more than happy to give you information about the island. Barra is beautiful and this campsite gives you a great base for touring around and the beach is only 50 m away. Definitely recommend Croft 2 thanks again.

In our month of travelling through the Outer Hebrides this was our first and overall probably the best campsite we stayed at
The view of the sea and islands opposite is superb with the colours of the sea and ever changing light.
Very peaceful and relaxing.
A small and intimate campsite with a delightful washing house which is very clean and chic with hand towels, soaps and flowers
Washing machine located in the wash house and pegs and a line outside
Mary could not have been kinder, more welcoming or more helpful with advice on what to do and where to go on Barra; visiting Vatersay, the coffee shop with wifi at the Airport - fabulous view of planes landing on the beach, Kisimul Castle, walks around etc

We were very happy staying here. The new facilities are spotlessly clean, and nice touches such as the liquid soap and flowers in the toilet/shower block were appreciated. Angus and Mary are a welcoming couple and have put some effort into improving their site. The washing machine is in the barn, as are plenty of drying lines. They will be installing washing up facilities in the barn next year, but meanwhile you need to have a bowl and can get water from the shower block. I felt really sorry to hear that a family had stolen the spare liquid soaps and used all of the clean hand towels which Mary had been keeping in a cupboard in the shower/toilet block, not behaviour that we would have wished on them. One or two families staying at the same time had very noisy and inconsiderate children - I realise that Mary is a gentle person but she may have to develop a tougher exterior in the future if subjected to folk who don't consider others on the site. Thank you Mary and Angus for a lovely stay!

We enjoyed a lovely 3 days at this site at the end of July. Situated in the beautiful north end of Barra, next to an extensive white sandy beach when the tide retreats, this is a lovely location for a holiday.
Great views from the site overlooking Eriskay and South Uist.
The new toilet block is a great addition and even through the site is small with five or six pitches, there was room for the children to play on the grass.
The owners are very helpful with advice on the local area.
The airport is a place which you must visit on Barra where the planes land twice a day on the beach at low tide. This is 5 mins drive away, but you can see them approach the airport from the site.
Nearest shop is the co-op in Castlebay (30 mins away), so stock up with food.
During our stay, we saw two otters playing on the beach at low tide. Great beaches, both at the site and opposite the airport over the dunes.

Spent 18 nights on Barra on this site. Cant fault any aspect of our stay. OK the weather might have been kinder but you cant order that.
Site was in a beautiful location. Facilities were greatly enhanced by the addition of the toilet/shower block, but we were prepared use our own facilities. However these were not required. The toilet block was kept very clean. Washing machine and drying facilities were also a great bonus.
Angus and Mary could not have been more helpful. Their generosity too with fish, prawns and home baking was very welcome. It's been a long time since such generosity has been experienced from site owners (personal experience). So many now concentrate on the commercial aspect, but not so at Croft No 2. There was always the offer of picking up anything required in Castlebay when Mary was going in.
This site is a Hebridean gem which I will definitely revisit.

What can I say about this site that's not been already said. FANTASTIC! New toilet block, is very modern and is one of the best and cleanest I've ever used in a site, fresh hand towels (not paper!) Lovely added extras, hand cream and fresh flowers. Shower has plenty hot water, perfect after a day at the beach. The site has a washing machine, and inside and outside drying facilities. Site owners are so friendly, we were treated to some wonderful home made baking during our stay (strawberry tarts. Delicious) Wonderful sunsets at the back of the site, my husband managed to capture a picture of the sun going down on Saint Kilda. There are beautiful walks from the site, we walked from the site, to the airport, a long walk on an awesome beach. Visited the airport cafe on our way back to the site, this is highly recommended, beautiful home made cakes and freshly brewed coffee. We were very sad to be leaving this wonderful site, we've booked up again for two visits next year

We have just returned from another holiday on Barra and again stayed on this camp site. This time we brought a caravan and also the children. Once again a friendly welcome at this stunning location, just 30 meters from a white sandy beach, the kids were able to play outside (weather permitting) and its a great base to explore the island.
The site now has new wash/shower and toilet facilities which are clean with plenty of space and light.
I would highly recommend this site for anyone wishing to stay on Barra.

Was here at end of June and would certainly recommend this site, beach was a 2 minute walk away, Owner was a lovely man who came down to meet us when we arrived. Wish we had stayed longer but will know the next time. New shower block should be up and running now, this campsite is close to the airport where we enjoyed seeing the plane land on the beach.

Just returned from spending another 2 weeks on this tranquil campsite which has been improved since our last visit in July 2014 with the addition of a shower room with toilet, wash basins and washing machine, excellent facilities. A very warn welcome from both Mary and Angus and excellent home made cakes and scones from Mary too. The corncrakes are still in residence in the adjacent fields. Looking forward to a further visit.

Just returned from another wonderful stay at this fantastic site. My stay here, was made more incredible, as I got a chance to see for myself, the very rare and difficult to see corncrake. Heard the corncrake on many occasions, this is the first time I've actually seen it. There are no fewer than 4 breeding in the long grass, behind the campsite. Had a lovely sunset walk out the road to the community owned turbine, which is located a mile from the site, this walk is a must, as there are wild birds, otters and seals can be seen. The site owners are near completion of a toilet and shower block, which will be an added bonus in my mind, to this site. This site is located in a very sheltered spot from most wind directions. The views from the site are unspoilt and breath taking, long Sandy (desserted) beach at the bottom of the site, just ideal. Looking forward to returning to this site in July, for two weeks.
