What a beautiful spot to have a campsite. Basic but on a beautiful spot with the fresh fish food hut next door.
Unfortunately when we stayed the toilet and shower unit and shack with washing up facilities had not been maintained. We spoke to the owner as we were concerned about the lack of basic hygiene. There is one small block with 1 toilet, 1 shower and 2 sinks and a washing machine.
Unfortunately the shower had flooded and continued to do so whilst we were there. The washing machine was out of order.
The shop was not open for the 3 nights we were there. As a registered caravan and club site, the standards of hygiene were poor.
We also spoke to the owner about the over flowing bins that were situated next to the drinking water tap.
It's a shame as this is a gem of a site location wise.
All of my comments on here have been discussed with the owner of croft number 2.

Lovely site close to the northern tip of Barra. Pitches are mostly level and the site is well drained.
Owner Angus and his team, especially Thomas, are brilliant hosts.
Indoor and outdoor hanging area is useful. There is only 1 shower and 1 toilet but actually we didn’t have any queuing.
The views are stunning and castlebay is only 20 minutes away.
A recent innovation is “The Fish Box” a pop up fish takeaway restaurant - or like us you can eat at the picnic tables if the weather is dry. It is the best fish you will eat! Locally sourced and fresh as fresh.

Angus and Seamus provide just the right balance of warm welcome and information on the local area and facilities to make our stay a pleasure.
The site is rustic but functional and the grassed area’s well maintained and for Island pitches provided a series of parking sites some of which are almost level.
Access to a fabulous sandy bay over the crofts own pathways and beach gate. Who could ask for more, well the sunny days made it a perfect place to stop.
A camping site to adjust to the slow, slow pace of life on Barra. Motorhome + 2 with EHU = £30. 00 pn.
Fishing family with excellent white & shellfish for sale on site.

Totally amazing and stunning location - Mauritius but not quite the same temperature.
Greeted by the friendly campsite manager, pitches on grass, some directly looking on to the beach but all with a view of the turquoise sea and Fudday island! The rare corn rake can be heard more than seen and the owners keep some of the grass long to preserve its habitat.
Facilities are clean, toilet, shower, 2 basins, washing machine. Inside drying barn and washing up area - ideal for tent based campers in inclement weather.
Bonus is the fresh fish available from Angus’s trawler - monkfish, sole, haddock and langoustine.
You could literally sit and watch the ever changing view all day, but the rest of the island is gorgeous too, so explore.
We had our kayak and SUP ideal bay and so easy when your our age and can use the facilities or the caravan to struggle in and out of your wetsuit!
A great place, highly recommend it.

Fantastic site right next to an amazing white sandy beach.
Pitches are on a slight slope but caravan was easily levelled.
Facilities clean and modern but could do with more when site is busy. Owner friendly and helpful.
Cost reasonable.
Will certainly be back.

Nice low key site, right on the north of Barra - friendly owners,
Basic facilities but adds to the charm.
Beach at high tide is incredible, would be great for SUP and kite surfing as shallow a long way out

Great location with sandy beach a stone's throw away.
Facilities let location down. Whilst toilet block with shower is new, only 1 person has access to both.
For size of site really needs more facilities, or separation of toilet and shower facilities.
Site fairly uneven ground so chocks a necessity and despite there not being great number of pitches being used, we were manoeuvred into a pitch with a view of the bins !
Only there for 1 night though.

Great little site tucked away on the North of the Island.
It has an amazing white Sandy beach which is great for swimming, paddle boarding and dog walking!
Facilities are limited but clean and well kept.

What an absolutely Amazing location on the beautiful Isle of Barra.
Croft 2 is a small campsite which is relatively secluded from the elements compared to our last visit to the Borve site near to castlebay.
The campsite is owned and maintained by Angus with the assistance of his so, who we found to be very engaging and helpful.
The site is small and is broken up into 3 sections. When we arrived it was busy and we were met by Angus who offered us a pitch outside the main area near to his garage. All of the pitches are uneven and will require some manoeuvring to achieve a comfortable position.
The site is idyllic and is about 50 meters from white sands and a fairly sheltered part of sea. We were able to use our paddle boards which was an amazing experience beside the seals and porpoises(Angus has about 4/5 boards which he hires out to guests if you fancy it. )
We had no phone signal or WiFi which was a good detox from social media. Nearest 4G spot, my kids tell me was a short walk up to the wind turbine which you can see from the site.
The facilities at the site are very limited. Do not expect luxury. There is one block with 1 toilet a shower 2 sinks and a washing machine. There is electric hook up and the chemical waste is a toilet which has been dung into the ground in the middle of the campsite (which does not flush. )
We filled our amazing week in the water, fishing off the rocks at the Turbine, touring the amazing coffee shops a walk up Heavil and dinner at the lovey Kisimul restaurant in castlebay.
If you want to experience beautiful Barra at its natural best then this site is perfect. You won’t find a Caravan Club site with 5 star faculties anywhere in the Outer Hebrides so be prepared and just enjoy the amazing Isle.
