We stayed here for 7 Nights with our 2 dogs. The first 2 nights were very busy as it was a weekend and the weather was amazing. Despite it being busy we didn't feel intruded upon by our neighbors and the site was quiet at a reasonable hour. The facilities were always immaculate and we had them to ourselves for most of the week. We avoided the showers at busy times as we could afford to since we were there for the week. The on site freezer was a god-send to chill our beer and keep our cool-box cool! The washing up facilities were always accessible and clean.
The site itself is very well maintained with plenty of water stand pipes. The large pitches are plenty big enough. The whole site has lovely views down to the sea. Having a campfire is a must for us and the Fire pit we hired was great, a £5 bag of logs did us for 2 nights. There is a large bottom field bordered by a lovely brook. Our dogs loved it as we could safely run them off leash and they (we) loved the brook to cool off in. Monknash Beach is a beautiful 15-20 minute walk through 2 horse fields and following the brook down to the sea. There are 6 stiles and the path is rocky with a reasonable incline. However my mom visited us on site for a few days, and though though she suffers with osteoarthritis managed the walk there and back! The beach is beautiful and great for swimming off the rocks at high tide and for exploring the rocks and sand at low tide. It is a rocky beach so you need to be sure footed and reasonably agile (mom didn't venture on to the beach). It is also dog friendly year round and our 2 loved it. We walked along the beach and coastal path (which is spectacular) all the way to St Donat's where we caught the regular bus service back to the site. The local pub, the Plough & Harrow, is 5 minutes walk away. We didn't go in as it is not a dog friendly pub. We did however drive into Wick (5 minutes by car) to The Star. This pub is amazing and spotless! They allow dogs in the bar where you can indulge in the proper pub menu. We had fish & chips, a delicious steak and some lovely puddings. All washed down with beer and stories from the locals; who loved our pooches to death! All of the large 24 hour supermarkets are in Bridgend just a short drive away, and a Co-Op in Llantwit Major; to keep you well stocked.
We spent a week really enjoying the immediate area but there is so much to do we will definitely be returning. It is one of the best and most relaxing campsites we have ever been to in such a beautiful and convenient area. Lastly I must mention The owners Philippa and Glyn, with their lovely dog Teddy! They made us and our dogs feel very welcome and very looked after. Thank you. We had a great time at your beautiful site and can't wait to return :)

We stayed at the Heritage Coast Campsite for two nights which we arranged at short notice via telephone. We know the area well as we only live approximately 30 miles from the site.
The site is a long field flanked by hedges with a lane running down the east side of it. The lane is a no through road so the only traffic is an occasional car and tractor. There are good views over the Bristol channel with a 25 minute walk to the beach. If you plan a visit to the beach check the tide times (use the Admiralty EasyTide website) as at high tide it's not possible to access it.
The shower/toilet facilities were spotless and looked fairly new. Showers cost 50p for 5 mins use. There is a washing up area with a freezer for ice blocks etc (no charge for using this). There are drinking water taps on the field as well.
The owners have BBQs and firepits for hire and fuel is available at very reasonable cost.
Locally there is a very good pub in the village (The Plough & Harrow) that serves a good range of high quality meals and a fantastic range of real ales and traditional ciders & perries. There are no local shops and it is necessary to use a car to get to the nearest.
We were made very welcome and enjoyed stay.
Be aware that if you like your mobile/smart phone, coverage is very difficult (with Vodafone) and we struggled to get any sort of signal. This is obviously totally out of the control of the owners but if you do need to have access to a mobile it might be a problem for you.

This site just keeps on getting better and better.
We have just had another weekend camping at Heritage Coast Campsite. As mentioned previously I am part of the crazy/brave DISABLED campers.
A brand new disabled facility has just been put into operation. Masses of space, well designed with a disabled person in mind; not just another 'tick box' exercise of which an abled bodied person had as an afterthought!
Overall its hard to fault the owners and their site, its facilities, customer service and care rivals any 5 star hotel across the world!
We will be back.

Had a very enjoyable break at this lovely campsite. The walk to the beach through the woods was really nice, loved the stream and waterfall. We had perfect weather so the shade the trees was most wecome walking back to camp. Very nice walk to the lighthouse along the coastal path followed by a lemonade in the pub close to the site. The site itself is very well kept, grass cut, showers very clean and the owners were really lovely. We are looking forward to another visit soon.

Visited last weekend with the children - a really lovely stay. The site was fully booked and I was a little concerned it might be noisy, but not at all. The pitches are really generous, and the site seems to attract a really happy, relaxed crowd. Lots of people were sitting up late around their firebowls, but the atmosphere was very mellow, and not noisy at all. The views to the sea are gorgeous, and the walk to the rocky beach at Monknash (15m) very pleasant.
On a busy weekend the facilities were a little stretched, but really not a problem. The owners were absolutely charming and were clearly working incredibly hard to make sure that campers were well looked after and facilities were kept clean. Will definitely return.

We have just returned from a fabulous weekend at the Heritage Coast campsite and have to say what a lovely site. The views over the fields towards the sea are stunning.
The site itself is well maintained and has excellent facilities. The toilets and showers were clean and tidy as was the washing up room.
The owners can't do enough for you and were very friendly and welcoming. They even cook and sell breakfast rolls!
This was our third visit there and we are delighted that there is now a disabled toilet and shower room.
The Plough and Harrow pub is just a couple of minutes walk away and is well worth a visit for the lovely food, ales and ciders!

What a wonderful site! The small friendly site is exactly what were looking for. The perfect place to get away from it all! All pitches are level on well kept grass in a small paddock. The adjoining paddock (on a bit more of a slope) was open space for ball games etc with picnic benches dotted around. The only sounds we heard all week were the friendly sheep in the adjacent field and the birds. A narrow lane runs along the edge of the site however we never heard more than 1 vehicle per hour pass by. The views are stunning with rolling hills down to the sea.
The showers are like new and extremely clean. NOTE: A 50p coin is required to operate the shower. This gave a lovely hot shower for 5 mins. The cubicles are clean, well stocked with plenty of toilet paper, hand soap etc.
Mobile phone charging is also available free of charge via a lock box but as we had no signal for the week, we had no need to use this. The washing up facilities are also more than adequate with two clean sinks, hot drinks machine and large chest freezer.
During our stay, we had a period of torrential rain, thunderstorms and high winds. The owners could not do enough to ensure our comfort and safety. We were offered extra supplies, the loan of wellington boots, nothing was too much trouble.
The Plough and Harrow pub is 2 minutes walk up the lane. The food was delicious however it is very small but full of character and therefore can get busy. Booking recommended! The pub has a variety of local ales and ciders all at a reasonable £3 per pint.
The walk to the beach was pleasant, talking around 20 mins at a slow amble. It is not accessible by road, but via a footpath leading through the woods to the coast on the other side. What a beach! Breathtaking scenery and completely unspoiled. However, owing to the landscape, it is rocky and slippery in parts. Strong walking shoes are recommended.
All in all, this place is a gem. We will definitely be back!

My partner and I had a lovely time here during the first May bank holiday. The owners are lovely and they like to meet everyone that stays there, which we thought was very nice! They try to keep the facilities very clean. The owners are always around or will ensure someone is there to help you.
The area is lovely. We walked to the beach and then on the cliffs and the views are amazing!
We look forward to visiting them again.
It took us a while to find a campsite that did not force us to book a minimum of 3 nights during a bank holiday and on the Mon they allowed us to take our time to leave.
We liked the baps that we bought from them :)
We recommend The Star Inn in Wick (CF71 7QA) if you have a car. The food there is really nice and cheap. Good service!
Thank you for such a lovely stay!

We stayed at Heritage Coast for 8 nights in May 2014 - its probably one of the best campsites we've ever stayed at.
The owners are exceptionally friendly and would do anything for us. Fire pits and wood was a bargain and meant we didn't have to mess about bringing ours with us.
On the last morning after packing up the tent we treated ourselves to a fresh breakfast bap cooked on site by the owners which is a fantastic idea.
There's only 2 toilets and showers in each the ladies and gents but given the size of the campsite that wasn't an issue. The showers were some of the best campsite showers we've come across (however a small warning the 5 minutes water in the shower runs from when you put the 50p in not when you push start).
As we were there out of school holidays we had the place pretty much to ourselves during the week - great for idyllic views of the countryside and coast.

I visited this campsite on 3rd-5th May. The owners were fantastic they made us very welcome and were helpful and very friendly, always on hand to provide anything we needed or information. Perfect location and a lovely pitch with stunning views across the fields towards the sea. There's the added bonus of being able to hire fire pits and wood which was personally delivered to our us by the owners who also told us about the local area and some places to visit. The shower block, toilet and washing up faculties are excellent kept very very clean, also the use of a large freezer for ice packs etc. Was an added bonus. The extras amenities were brilliant, coffee machine, sale of ice creams/soft drinks and the owners do a breakfast service each morning which is a great idea (small charge).
Location of the campsite is brilliant. Only a short walk to the local pub and 15-20 minutes stroll to the beach across fields which follow a gorgeous windy path along a small stream to the most unusual beach which was a real find, sand and rocks pools and stunning cliff face and coastline excellent for they dogs they absolutely loved it. Also the little stream and mowed area at the bottom of the campsite is beautiful where you can sit around the stone table and just chill. A perfect way to end the day.
I recommended this campsite very highly and can't wait to return in fact hoping to in August :o)
