Spent a wonderful week exploring the Uists, Barra and Benecula from this gem of a site. Don't be put off by its southern location, we reached North Uist inside an hour. The site itself is within an easy drive of Lochboisdale and Barra and overlooks the sea and Barra itself.
We arrived on the late ferry from Mallaig on a wet windy evening to find DJ waiting to show us to our pitch. We were able to pitch looking out to sea with plenty of room for the car and an awning if we had wanted. A picnic table, hook up and bird box all provided!
The facilities are spotless and warm, with unlimited hot water in the showers. We made use of the washing machine in the well equipped campers kitchen. All this for £19 a night. Really can't fault the site, well done DJ!

Great site stunning location ! This is a lovely small site situated about a mile from the causeway to Eriskay so very handy for the ferry to Barra. The site has a nice new cafe and new immaculate toilet & shower block which also has a full campers kitchen and dining area there is a wonderful white sandy beach opposite with turquoise waters all around and there is a pub about 20 minutes walk along the headland. We will definitely return.

I stayed at this site in my Motorhome for 4 nights during my tour of the Outer Hebrides. It was pleasantly situated right by the main road with views across the sea to the west and the hills to the east. I was lucky with the weather which was sunny and mild, however, I imagine the site could be a bit windswept on breezy days as it is rather open to the elements and unprotected by trees, walls or bushes.
The owner is welcoming and helpful and the facilities excellent. The toilet block contains smart, clean, modern toilets and showers and there is also a kitchen with washing machine and dryer (both payable) and an 'information' room with maps and leaflets and there is also wi-fi although this is not very powerful and you may have to move around the site to attract a signal.
Finally there is a pleasant cafe which is popular with passing traffic as well as campers; I didn't personally take a meal there but I heard good reports. There is a an excellent pub within about 40 minutes walk and a shop next door which sells Harris Tweed items and eggs! This is all around a sandy beach and cove. An idyllic spot and I strongly recommend it to prospective visitors!

This is a lovely campsite well situated for the ferry. It has wonderful views over the sea and is literally across the road from the beach so those of us with dogs have a great walk on the doorstep. The pitches were all well spaced with a hard-standing and a grass area containing a picnic bench. The facilities were excellent, good spacious showers with plenty of hot water; a roomy kitchen/dining area with cooking facilities and washing up facilities. The site is well maintained and spotlessly clean. Washing lines are provided with pegs. There is a cafe on site. The owner was very friendly and helpful. Next door is a shop selling island products and local food specialities. This site is ideal for touring the island or just walking out to various walks. I have already recommended it to other travellers I have spoken to. I will definitely go back here.

Thank you D-J, your facilities are superb with spotless toilets, showers and kitchen facilities.
Our spot looked directly out to sea and we so much enjoyed the different colours and moods as the weather changed each day. A wonderful experience.
Do please pop next door to the Hebridean wool Shed. There you can see wool reflecting the colours of the flowers of Uist, the sea and the sky, You can also meet Denise and Jonathan and perhaps see spiinning in action.
South Uist has much to see and enjoy from this perfect campsite.

I almost don't want to review this site because it means sharing with others about how great it is.
The facilities were great! A lovely shared kitchen area with sinks, microwave, kettle, etc all indoors and out of the weather.
The showers were nice and hot and although we were the only people there they were all clean and tidy upon our arrival.
The site itself is a large flat area with several hardstanding pitches and hookup points. We pitched near to the toilet block and cafe. Sadly an inbound storm cut our stay short as we were likely to get stranded on the island so had to leave early and didn't get an opportunity to sample anything from the cafe.
Although the site runs along the road it's not busy and we didn't hear a thing overnight. Just across from the road is a lovely small sandy beach which our dog loved, and it was lovely to wake up in the morning and stroll across the road and down to the beach and enjoy the sun coming up.
The owner, DJ, was a great bloke who was really welcoming and helpful. It was a very relaxed place to stay and I can imagine people who find it return again and again. We were lucky enough to arrive as the sun was setting and woke up to crystal clear skies (in November!) and it really was a beautiful place which we'll be back to.

I can only repeat the fine reviews that have been given by others. The owner has made the effort and the investment to create a site that has everything you could wish - EHU, fresh water point, grey and black water disposal, hardstanding (essential in the ever present rain and winds when we were there), easy access, first rate facilities block, excellent café/restaurant on site, and great location. The hard working owner, a crofter, builder, site manager, café owner, and sheep shearer etc etc, although a tad shy at first, could not have been more accommodating and helpful. His site is a credit to him. Choosing this site above others in South Uist, especially after a hair raising and stomach churning ferry trip to Eriskay, is a no brainer. The only thing he didn't do anything about was the weather!

Just returned from the outer hebridies.
This was our first visit to this site.
We arrived on a very windy day and the site is a little exposed.
Other than that its a fantastic little site.
Facilities were excellent and very clean.
The location was also excellent.
We cycled everywhere. The land here is not as hilly as the northern end.
The views and scenery were also fantastic.
Cant fault the site.
Very, very good.
Will visit again.

This is a perfect site as far as location and facilities are concerned. We booked by phone and the pitch was marked reserved with our name on it when we arrived. The facilities are first class, showers very clean lots of space and hooks to hang clothes, and a great kitchen area. The layout of the kitchen and toilets/showers seem to encourage campers to chat and everyone was so friendly. Pitches are a good size and as we were on the front row we had great views of the sea. Waste disposal and chemical disposal available and in a good position for moterhomes to use. The cafe at the gate seemed to be well used by the campers with a number of them having takeaway breakfasts.
This is a first rate site in a great location for South Uist and Eriskay.
