We stayed on this site for four nights and really wished we had stayed longer. Very easy to find, with an easy access. Ideally placed for exploring Dartmoor and the surrounding areas. We received a very warm welcome and all the staff were polite and helpful. Our site was very spacious and level. We had a fully serviced hard standing pitch which happened to be opposite the Shower/toilet block/recycling. This was very convenient, however I would imagine that it could be a bit noisy during peek times. There was a lovely large camping field that butted onto the river, which looked pretty flat too. The shower/toilet facilities were great, with sensible showers allowing a dry area to dress in! The site also provided freshly baked bread to order, which was delicious. Tavistock was a couple of miles away. We walked into Tavistock via the interesting cycle path.

Campsite is located just off of the main road towards Tavistock and is very easy to find. First impressions were very good and the customer service from the reception staff was excellent. Even though it was busy on site, it wasn't crowded and had lots of space. Never had to queue for the showers either.
Site is close enough to the Dartmoor Moors and is perfect location for walking. (which was why we chose it)
The site facilities were some of the best we have seen, toilet block especially impressed with!
The Peter Tavy Inn, only a 10min walk is highly recommended. Some of the tastiest food I have ever had, and some great ales/ciders to try as well! Would advise booking in advance as this place is very popular!
We would happily go back to visit again!

Just back from a one night stay during August Bank Holiday. Would have stayed longer but weather was about to change! Lovely, well kept campsite. Could do with more showers at busy holiday times and more sinks and mirrors-very busy! Mop policy was in place in the showers but my mop made my shower cubicle dirtier :( Need more mops and buckets and more clean water - water was dark brown in bucket! Area is lovely, staff are friendly. Would return at less busy time. Peter Tavy pub 20 minutes walk away (not 10 like some reviews say!) is lovely with nice beer garden. Elephants Rest Inn is nice for food with lovely beer garden but not the cheapest. All in all a good weekend.

Just returned from a fantastic weeks stay at Harford Bridge campsite, we stayed in our camper in the river field, right next to the river, the weather was perfect and the sound of the birds and river plus the chance to sit and watch dippers hopping from rock to rock was the perfect recipe for relaxation from our usual daily grind.
The site was very well laid out and kept to a very high standard, the staff were always smiling and very helpful.
No bars, takeaways or usual holiday tackiness that the larger holiday parks offer means this is a lovely quiet, clean and enjoyable place to stay.
Showers, toilets, washing up and all other amenities were spotless, the reception has a few basic foods, drinks etc but Tavistock is just down the road for the other items.
The site has an area for kids ball games etc and no swimming in the river, it would be nice if the river field was adults only as one family who arrived on our last night (local weekenders) had the kids from hell and a ball was kicked against my camper 3 times, a word to the staff sorted this out.
Dartmoor is a fantastic amazing place and Harford Bridge is an ideal place to make camp for your holiday, I rate this site very highly and hope to come back year after year.
I have also recommended this on a VW camper forum.

We went here for the second part of our honeymoon. Tent with hookup and 10 month puppy.
When we arrived it was 26 degrees and the site looked stunning. We asked for a hookup pitch as close to the river as possible as my husband us a keen fisher. They obliged and it was one of the nicest sites to wake up to.
The location is perfect for getting out and about and we travelled to Exeter and the Eden Project to name a few. Tavistock is only 5 mins by car and good for a wonder around.
The shop on site stocks a range of needs. There is a morrisons on the other side of Tavistock for any large items.
The Peter Tavy pub is a 10 min walk from site and food is amazing, there were also very dog friendly!

We have just spent a lovely week camping at Harford Bridge as our base as we were visiting family in Plymouth. We went with our three children, aged 7, 4 and 1 and a great time was had by all. We chose to pitch away from the river due to our youngest but all pitches were great spots, although if you have young children then the pitches next to the river may not be a good idea as there is no fence. A lovely playground for the kids and great facilities, all of which were absolutely spotless. Our only complaint was that the showers had fixed heads and were far too hot for the children, but after mentioning this to the site manager, he informed us that there was a disabled shower we could use, which had a detachable shower head and adjustable thermostat. Perfect for washing little ones!
As one other person commented. The river is very loud, especially after lots of rain! But it adds to the charm as well! And we spent a few afternoons playing and paddling in the river. A well stocked shop which also provided freshly baked croissants and bread, but this had to be pre ordered and we never quite managed it! We would happily return to Harford Bridge and plan to do so. Just one thing to bear in mind. There is absolutely no reception for Vodafone network. We had to drive into Tavistock to get a signal. But this was a good thing for us.
Out and about. Tavistock was lovely and we highly recommend Duke's cafe opposite the pannier market. Beautiful food and great service. The pannier market is good, especially on bad weather days as it is all under cover. We also highly recommend The Peter Tavy Inn in Peter Tavy, about 3 mins drive from the campsite. We ate there twice. We were made to feel very welcome and the food was outstanding. They were happy to adapt dishes to suit little ones or big ones and the service was very efficient and very smiley!
We also drove to the Eden project. Just over an hour's drive from campsite. Worth a visit but very pricey. We also drove to Princetown in the heart of Dartmoor. Perhaps we didn't see the best of it but we were very disappointed and wouldn't travel there again. We had lunch there at Lord's cafe and left as soon as possible. Food was average at best.
Thank you Harford for a great holiday :-)

We arrived on the Saturday afternoon to a friendly greeting and shown to our spacious pitch by the river.
The site is immaculate and sets the standard that all other sites should aim for. Toilets spotless, no litter, nice sized kids play area and dog friendly.
Being situated on the river Tavy, it is set in a beautiful location with the Trout and Tipple pub a safe 30 minute walk away. The pub serves good food and is also child and dog friendly.
We have a VW transporter, a 10 year old boy and a spaniel and as we live just down the road in Plymouth, we will definitely be visiting again.
Many thanks

Lovely site, very beautiful with the River Tavy running through the bottom of the site and with ducks roaming freely. Toilet and shower areas kept very clean with lots of hot water for the shower - a real treat! Lots of information about places to visit etc. Friendly staff.
Only downsides - can't pitch until 2pm and could do with a take-away. Although saying that the reception does stock essentials such as milk, fresh bread etc as well as ice-creams and hot coffee. The nearest pub is a nice one mile away, easy walking distance. And as a bonus it is dog friendly even when you are eating.
If you visit here a must is to visit Brentor Church - it is breath taking. Go and see!
Would recommend this site if you like a nice quiet campsite.

We have just had a great weekend at Harford Bridge site and I cant remember the last time we felt so relaxed. From the welcome to our departure these people cannot do enough for you. If you are expecting club houses and entertainment forget it, this place is just for relaxing and a great base camp. Right beside the river Tavey the site has room for tents, caravans and mobile homes they even have a shepards hut for hire. We stayed in a very modern caravan 6 birth and most important to us dog friendly it was fantastic. This may not be the best place for children but they do have a play area and plenty of room to run about and not disturb people. A really well thought out camp site so good we are going back again. Toilet block and showers are first class, and you must try the fresh eggs fantastic.

We found this gem of a campsite a few years ago and have stayed there for several long weekends since. Staff are very helpful and friendly. Great play area for kids and safe for them to cycle around the site. The facilities are undoubtedly the best we have come across. Cleaned regularly and well fitted out. Showers are always hot and very rarely had to wait as there are several to use. Tavistock is a great area to visit and the site is very close to Dartmoor to take advantage of the great walks.
The Peter Tavy Inn and the Trout and Tipple are great stop offs for food and refreshments.
