This is our favourite site and location. The campsite is large and spacious with many trees and the River Tavey running past it. It has a very relaxed feeling and is absent of many signs telling what you can and cant do which we like.
The pitches that run along the river are best but they don't have electric hook up.
The facilities are good and showers are hot. There is a free tennis court and games room with table tennis and bar football.
It's a paradise for walking and Tavistock is a very good market town.
Been here 6 times in 3 years and will definitely be returning.

Have just spent a week at this lovely site. Easily accessible and about an 45 minute walk into Tavistock. We were met by friendly staff and were surprised to find that we were only the second unit on the site although it did fill up a little towards Easter. Our pitch was very large and in good condition despite the heavy rain they had just had. Lovely views over the bridge and river.
The toilet block was a few minutes walk and accessed by a good path. Clean and tidy with plenty of hot water. It was an extremely cold week and not many of us there but the block could have been just a tad warmer, other than that very good.
For those with dogs a lovely exercise field is available opposite the entrance. They can run free to their hearts content and the horses don't pay any attention.
Some very good walks direct from the site and the Peter Tavy is a must. Excellent food and good selection of local beer. It is dog friendly and they can go into all parts including the restaurant area.
If you venture into Tavistock and you like soup then try the coffee shop within the market they served a good selection of homemade soups. The farmers market on a friday was very good, small but full of lovely local produce. If travelling into town in a camper of motorhome parking behind the library on the plymouth road is fine.

Stayed here for a night last summer on the way to Cornwall, with 3 kids aged 9 to 13. Lovely site, we were lucky it was a lovely sunny day. Kids enjoyed paddling in the river and building a dam, good old fashioned kids fun. Lovely open space to play badminton etc that we bought with us. Indoor tabke tennis table. Nice hardstanding pitch for motorhome. We had a bit of a walk out in the lanes trying geocashing for the first time but we weren't very good at it lol. Only a brief visit but a very nice site.

Harford Bridge was the first outing for our new tent and we couldn't have asked for a better campsite. The only thing I would change (if I could) would be to live closer to Harford Bridge, making it easier to visit for the occasional weekend! Combined with the nearby Peter Tavy Inn, I cannot recommend the site enough.
The camp site was at about 50% capacity so we bagged a pitch along the edge of the river. Initially I had concerns that the noise of rushing water would be too loud (or worse, encourage late night trips to the toilet!) but if anything the sound was therapeutic.
A large group of families had booked several pitches near the children's play area and it was good to see the campsite catered for the younger campers - free range children!
There were a number of picnic benches dotted around which we took advantage of, but it would have been nice to know if we were allowed to move them (we did). In a busy period I can imagine some people getting territorial over 'their' picnic bench.
Each pitch was numbered and deep enough so that the door to the tent wasn't close to the track running through the site.
The toilets/showers/laundry/etc were a couple of minutes walk and to a very high standard. Toilets and showers were separated, with showers having a good divide between wet and dry areas.
Another nice touch was a TV/Library room near reception. For those spending a week or two in a tent, the little home comforts make all the difference especially when you simply cannot miss whatever reality show is on the box.
At the risk of sounding like a broken record and as other reviewers have said, the Peter Tavy Inn is a must (especially if you've been on a camping stove for a few days). It's about 30 minutes to walk, up a slight incline (but downhill on the way home!) on unpaved roads so we took the car.
The site is close to a number of lovely (albeit steep) cycle routes, so if you have two wheels, take them along.

We have visited this site many times in the past and have always found it to be excellent.
However, this time, being a double bank holiday weekend at the start of half term, we actually felt that it was over-crowded. There were many large groups with numerous children running wild.
The rules of the park quite clearly state 'no swimming', 'dogs on leads' and 'no noise between 11pm and 8am'. Unfortunately, several people did not adhere to these rules, making it less of a pleasant stay than normal.
Despite the rather damp! weather and the site being full, the staff managed to maintain their usual, very high, standard of cleanliness in the toilet/shower block.
As other reviewers have already stated, the site is within 2 miles of Tavistock and within a mile of the very good Peter Tavy Inn.
There are several types of pitch - from fully serviced to a patch of grass for your tent.
I would recommend this site (it is usually very pleasant and quiet) and we will return. Just not when school holidays and bank holidays coincide!

WINTER CAMPING
2 people, tent, 1 car
£13. 50 Pitch
£3 EHU
First impression wasn't great as there were aload of statics and just a field in the middle. Spoke to the owner and he said the sheep were on the main camping field which was right next to the river. We asked to camp there instead of the grass in the middle of the site. Glad we did. The scenery is great and you can hear the water running which is a bonus. They have ducks on site too
The toilets and facilities are well maintained
They have a tv room/library and a games room. There are some stables on the site which is nice. They have tennis courts too. The club internet is a bit of a rip off though. 2 hours from the moment you log in is a joke.
Pub a mile down the road is small but cosy. Shops in Tavistock are 10 mins drive away
We really enjoyed the site, in a brilliant location, no noise and the owner was friendly

We have stayed at this site 3 times this year so must be good.
The staff are friendly.
The pitch sizes are very large.
The site has great facilities including, plenty of hot water for showers, spotless toilets, lots of washing-up sinks, freezer for ice packs, laundry facilities, small shop selling essentials.
We stayed first next to the Riverside, and as stated by others, it is really noisy and quite cold.
Second time we stayed other side of the field next to the hedge, we definitely prefered this one.
The third time in the next field, so closer to the toilets as this was all we could get on August bank holiday. We had our own water, electrics but felt out of place between the caravans.
The ducks are friendly and will eat any leftover bread you have.
There is a TV room with lots of leaflets for local attractions.
There is also a games room.
Supermarkets are so easy to get to and Tavistock has plenty of places to eat at.
We will camp at this site if in the area and would recommenced it to anyone.

What a find!
I was a little apprehensive after reading the reviews. My family (2 adults children aged 8 and 10 and labradoodle, 3) visited with on August Bank Holiday weekend.
I telephoned several campsites to enquire on availability. Many were unhelpful, some bordering rude.
However, the staff at this site were lovely. Despite being the busiest weekend of the year they were polite, friendly and welcoming. I overheard a conversation in the background to the effect that they would not allow the campsite to become overcrowded and were preparing to turn people away, if necessary, to avoid overcrowding. I found this reassuring.
One review mentioned rules. There are rules in place to protect everyone and so that everyone knows what is expected. The emphasis is not on strict regimes, but respecting other campers. For instance, there are no ball games on the main pitching area. However, there is a large well kept recreation area at the top of the site, where there was usually a communal football game taking place.
The toilets and washrooms were excellent. Warm, clean, modern and plentiful. Mops are provided with disinfectant to allow you to clean before or after your shower. It rained for much of the first 2 days and I was expecting the showers to be a mudbath, but this wasn't the case.
In addition the site stood up very well to the rain and drained quickly, despite the pitches being very level.
The location is perfect: on one side, Tavistock is walking distance away with a large Morrisons, pharmacy and cafe; on the other, Dartmoor at her brooding best. The quaint Peter Tavy Inn is a 10 minute walk away. Excellent food, not cheap, but very good.
The children's play area is very good and being sited close to the centre of the site feels very safe. The resident ducks delighted everyone with their occasional parade around the site.
The site is bordered on 2 sides by the river Tavy. This is a fast flowing moorland river and as such young children obviously need supervision. However it is a good distance from the main camping area and a child would have to stray approx 100 metres to get to the river. If my children were younger, I would not choose a riverside pitch.
In addition, the river can be quite noisy. We loved it, but choose a site away from the river if this is not the case.
The staff provided an information sheet on walks from the campsite. Tavistock is a lovely town. We walked into the town via the route provided using the lanes around the quarry. There is an on road section just before reaching Tavistock which is approximately 200 m long, which was a little hair raising. Drivers weren't surprised by us being on the road and gave us space.
There is also a cycle route into Tavistock and beyond, the sections we saw looked very well kept.
If you enjoy walking, then don't miss the walk on the sheet, taking in the Combe. It was truly beautiful. You can carry on up onto the tors from here and extend your walk as far as you like. We walked up to Cox Tor and from the top could see Plymouth Sound, the Brunel bridge and even France in the distance. The Peter Tavy Inn is perfectly positioned for refreshments on the way back.
The site is very dog friendly. The exercise area is excellent, complete with regularly emptied) poo bin. Perfect for a 10 minute stroll around the edge with lots of sniffs, or for throwing a ball. It does have 2 horses which was initially a concern with an overly friendly and very energetic Doodle. But the horses ignored us completely and were pleasant company.
All in all I would give this site 10 out of 10. The owners work very hard in their efforts to make this site peaceful, welcoming and enjoyable for everybody. The variety of people here are testament to this.
I cannot wait to go back. The children didn't want to come home and want to go back next weekend.

We (2 adults 2 children) camped at this site over the August bank holiday weekend. It was a last minute booking and the site was almost full when we arrived although the pitch sizes are very generous so it didn't feel cramped at all.
You get a map of the site upon arrival although be aware that its just a sketch really and has at least one inaccuracy we resulted in us pitching on the wrong place although in the end it didn't affect anyone.
Harford Bridge is in a great location on the edge of Dartmoor which gives you loads of choice for daytime activities - walking on the Moor, National Trust sites and shopping in Tavistock or Plymouth.
The site is very clean and has a great play area which our 2 girls loved. There are plenty of washing up bays and a nice big toilet block with lovely hot (free) showers. The pitches are well maintained and level with good drainage and a really nice touch is that each pitch has its own picnic bench which really came in useful.
Criticisms are hard to think of, they could benefit from an on-site shop perhaps but then there is a Morrisons down the road in Tavistock. If you go for a riverside pitch, some of the ones at the far end are a bit far from the toilet block.
We would happily visit this site again.

Excellent site, walking distance to Tavistock. Very child friendly, excellent facilities and the shower block was very clean.
There is a kids play area on site and a number of wardens out and around on site to help with any questions or advice.
Its only 45 mins from my house but I prefer this place to quite a few ive been to so far.
Very close to the river, and about 15 mins walk to the first pub and a little further to Tavistock.
At a push I would say that this place could be the best campsite I have been to in a camping career of many years! Only bad bit is the pub is a fair walk away though the on site shop sells all types of things you might need.
Pitches are all even and on nice ground, I cannot fault this place at all!
