Lovely site - went here for the day in the summer.
However today - I decided to go off in the campervan and they have a policy that they cannot accept bookings on the day!
The guy I spoke to said they were half full - but couldn't accept my booking - as policy! how daft

We actually stayed here twice within a fortnight, once heading north and once heading south.
Run by Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council and staffed by very friendly and helpful people, this large, fairly new site is strangely sparse, bare and characterless, with little landscaping, but it has the most superb facilities that I’ve come across anywhere.
Every aspect has been extremely well thought-out and designed and built to a very high standard. The two large and airy toilet blocks are always spotlessly clean and have plenty of spacious shower cubicles.
The reception and café building includes a small shop for basics and a bar serving a range of snacks and alcoholic drinks. It opens out onto a patio area overlooking an attractive stretch of the Rother Valley and the country park.
Plenty of wildfowl can be seen and heard and we saw a kestrel flying over the nearby trees and meadow.
The motorhome service point was well laid out, clean and odourless.
An ideal place to stay for an overnight stop when on the move, being fairly near the motorway, but I wouldn’t want to spend too long here until more hedges are planted and the site matures somewhat.
In addition, there’s constant background noise from nearby roads and the motorway, which is a great shame.

The site is lovely, well laid out. Shower blocks are spotless and spacious.
The shop only sells essentials, but not bread, bacon etc as that would do them out of the £3 per bacon butty that they sell in the cafe!
For mid September I think £26 a night is too much, but as I didn’t tell them about the dog or extra person I saved a few quid as they do not come round checking.
Great walks straight into Rother valley, but go a few miles to Treetwell dyke where there are better walks and less crowds, plus you can swim there as the water is cleaner.

Fab site. Well set out into hedged cul-de-sacs so you’re not on top of others. Small shop on site, run by friendly staff. Limited food available (sausage or bacon sandwiches) and reasonably priced bar.
Plenty of toilets and showers, all clean. Wash up station has huge sinks and draining areas and VERY hot water, so cleaning up is a cinch.
Rother Valley Country Park is a short walk down a steep hill (or a short drive away), where you can partake in inflatable fun in the lake (£20 for almost an hour with wetsuit and buoyancy aid); water-skiing; boating; flat walks around the lake. Lots of young kids whizzing around the site on electric scooters when we were there, but everyone was driving their vehicles slowly, so it all seemed safe.
Everyone respected each other and put their lights out relatively early, or were quiet both at night and in the morning. Electric hook up was problem free.
A great site in which to chill out, explore locally or use as a base to explore further afield.
We’ll definitely be returning.

Good level pitch with tap and electric. Was meant to have drainage but none seen.
Overall enjoyable experience.
A bit pricey compared to other sites.

We have been 2 summers in a row and whilst we can understand some of the negative reviews, we would disagree with them.
The site staff are great and cannot do enough to help. They want the site to be better and are constantly trying to learn and improve.
They are frustrated, as were we, at parents who did not have the good standards we expect in yes of supervising their children in the toilet blocks. Also there have been lots of people who are new to camping and do not know basic campsite etiquette like mopping out showers when you finish or could not be bothered.
There are site rules and as always most people adhere to them.
Pitches are huge and well supplied with water/waste.
Excellent site close to motorways.
There is noise from the rides at Gulliver's kingdom during the day.
Rother Valley is also brilliant.
So worth the journey, although it can be windy!
