Just returned from three nights at this excellent site which we cannot fault. The park manager was very helpful and informative, the toilets and showers were absolutely spotless, fantastic views, peaceful location and all a 45 minute walk from the beautiful Hay on Wye. There is even an orchard where you can pick fruit and a herb garden where you can gather herbs. We just wish we were back there!

This campsite is excellent. We were greeted by the friendly and professional managers and made welcome from the off. The site itself is located in a gorgeous area of Wales and has some stunning views. It is kept in immaculate condition and is very peaceful indeed.
Facilities (shower/toilets) are the best we have ever used and spotless at all times. Superb.
I have been camping for more than 35 years, and have camped in over 16 countries! I therefore consider myself well versed in the world of camping. This campsite would rate in my top 5 campsites of all time and myself and my family cannot wait to return next year.
10/10 in all respects and I would recommend to all.

Wow what a difference 12 months can make! There is now a road around the camping field so access is no longer a problem in wet weather (not that we had any!) The pitches have been 'terraced' so no more falling out of bed in the night! Brilliant! During our stay they were finishing off a new play area for younger children. It just gets better. The washrooms were the usual and now expected high standard and the Park Managers as friendly and helpful as always. Well done the improvements are excellent - anyone who has been here before should re-visit as you will not be disappointed

The terraces on this site have now been levelled and a new children's play area was being constructed while we were there. Didn't notice countryside noises, but what to expect in a rural area? Owners were very chatty, views wonderful, and as everyone else has noticed, the loos etc are the best ever, so much room in the shower units for all your toiletries! There is a small shop-cum-PO in Clyro, and we did the 2 mile walk into Hay. Too hot and steep to walk back, but taxi came quickly! Hay is still delightful, if gentrified, with all shops that you need.

We are experienced motorhome users and we feel that this site rates as one of the top 3 we have seen in Europe. The staff and facilities are fantastic and we have seen major improvements every year for 7 years. The site pitches have recently been levelled and the site staff are so helpful and keep the site in pristine condition. Clyro is a little way from Hay on Wye but you can either walk (45 minutes) or take your van or a local taxi (cheap). The site has good views of Hay and there are shops and garage about 1/2 mile down the road. The nature areas are also wonderful.
Highly recommend this.

We have stayed at this site 4 times and have raved about it on previous occasions. If you get a good pitch then I really can't fault it and can only praise it.
However this time we had a pitch next to the toilet block. Every time that the doors were opened we were aware of it and could clearly hear the hand driers when trying to sleep. Also people doing dishes at the block at 10:15 added to the noise.
Worse than all of that was the noise from the seasonal tourers just behind the toilet block. I must also mention the fact that we were next to the road (fairly quiet but cars do come really fast now and then). As we had a child with us I guess we were more aware of the noise.
It is a lovely, lovely site but if travelling with children just make sure you get a great pitch at the top of the field.

This was chosen as a last minute venue after our first chose had to cancel as they were rather flooded out.
On arrival we were met by the two wardens who look after the site, both very pleasant people and very helpful. We (there were 4 couples all in tents) were shown to the camping field area which is at the top of this hilly site.
The field was very, very wet underfoot and we were unable to pitch in the proper pitch areas as water was coming over our boots. We managed to find an area that was damp rather than sodden and we all managed to get pitched up, however, the dryness was at the expense of flatness. We all had issues with the slope of the land.
That said, the site is blooming brilliant with fantastic views and wildlife aplenty. We had a hedge top view of a Red Kite as it swooped onto some unseen prey in a field next to the site. Huge bird !
The new toilet block is simply one of (if not) the best we have used. The male side has three cubicles which each contain a toilet, shower, sink and a radiator (warmth) there are also extra toilet, sink, hand dryers etc. Brilliant and kept spotless and I do mean spotless.
For food we used the nearest pub the 'Baskerville Inn' its a mile walk from the site and all down hill So its a mile back and all uphill and its 99% unlit roads with no footpath. That said the food is very good and they will reserve tables etc over the phone.
The second hand book capital of the world, Hay-on-Wye, is just 4 miles away with some great shops and activity centres to keep you busy
Back to the campsite and after a day of no rain and some sunshine the ground quickly dried out and it was clear that recent drainage work was doing its job.
I do hope that BHHP's owners make that extra effort and flatten out or terrace the camping field as most pitches are sloping. Some touring caravans had to use loads of wooden blocks (supplied of course) to get them level.
If they did that work I would be there again tomorrow, sadly 'we' may not visit again due to the slopes.
There are no child play swings or slides etc. Perhaps this is because the site is mostly statics and holiday homes.

A lovely site just got back from a weekend of canoeing and fishing, all boys weekend. Lots to do river pubs town about a mile down the hill. Site was well kept by the wardens . The site is on a slope but level areas can be found. Graham helped me reverse the caravan on to its stop for, as iam not the best reversing. A 4x4 vehicle would be great as my car was front wheel drive. But there are plenty of blocks to use to level of your van. The toilet block well what can I say OUT OF THIS WORLD the best I have ever been in. Top awards for their toilets last year. A freezer to put your ice packs in free to use. Just a lovely well run site

Lovely site, as there had been torrential rain, the site manager phoned us to let us know he had allocated us one of the seasonal hard standing pitches for our stay.
A great welcome, the managers couldn't have been more helpful. When I couldn't get a phone signal (Hay and surrounding area is an O2 dead zone!) they very kindly found us a local taxi and called them for us.
Facilities superb and spotlessly clean and the grounds are lovingly maintained.
About a mile down the hill into Clyro, could have walked in the summer but misty dark nights, hence the taxi scenario!
Hay on Wye about 3-4 miles away and lots to see in the surrounding area. Would definitely recommend for couples.

A really nice site -great location and the most amazing toilet/shower block. Very quiet with most patrons static caravans/homes.
At £15 for pitch plus electric hook-up such good value
We went first week in September when most people back at school/work and for the weeknights there literally had camling field and toilet block to ourselves - whicn was great for a 2yr old ot run round in.
Literally 4 mins in car to Hay on Wye and supermarket - although no village or shop/pub within walking distance.
Only advice to anyone would be camping field on sever slop in parts to try and stay in the bottom or top of field. We arrived at dusk and did not realise this til we woke the next morning having been rolling all over place in the night.
Good laundry on site- blocks to mount stive/BBQS, picnics tables and levelling blocks all freely available in the field, plus owners have planted a fruit orchard/herb garden for clients to help themselves.
Would have loved a children's play area but it is predominately a static home site - so different market - but you benefit from it being quiet due to that and off season so much room in camping field for kids to play
