Visited this site last year and was impressed on our first visit. We went back this year and what an improvement. There has obviously been alot of work done over the last year as the site looks fantastic. The camping field has been improved with the addition of some drainage across the middle. The touring pitches have been landscaped with rockeries and shrub areas. The site has also had more static caravans added but rather than detract from it they add to the sites appeal. The toilet block is still the same as before but once again was always clean and smelling fresh. The weather over the weekend was beautifull and the views over the site and the surrrounding area were wonderfull. The site is well worth a visit and is a credit to the management team. Five stars!

This site is now called Borders Hideaway Holiday Park, it is still the same address and under new management. The site is undergoing a transformation at the moment but all the camping and caravaning facilities are still there. The toilet block is still small but there is a nice touch from the owner apologising for the conditions and outlining plans for better facilities in the winter of 2007-2008. The camping area is sloping but carefull arrangement by Derek allows you to get a decent pitch. There are now 12 electric hook-ups on the camping area and around 20 for camper vans and tourers. The nearby town of Hay-on-Wye is lovely and easily walkable. The new management team of Chris and Derek cannot do enough for you and are available most of the dat for help and advice. There is no shop on site but there is a very well stocked Texaco garage about 5 Min's walk down the lane. Well worth a visit is Oakchurch Farm shop around 10 Min's drive towards Hereford if you fancy a barbecue or just a walk around looking at the fresh produce. We visited when the Hay Festival was on so it can get a little busy around the area but doesn't really cause any issues, just book early if you want to go on May Bank Holiday weekend. All in all a very nice peacefull site with allot of future potential.

A lovely quiet small site, levelled areas optional for tourers, sloping for the tents. located at the top of the hills near the River Wye, giving sunlight right until late evening with great views. Small, yet very clean toilet & shower block. very friendly owners.

Good points: Nice views from campsite, Very quiet. No Pool, Bar, Shop, Playground, just a field.
Bad Points: tent field is sloping, site is very hilly. Toilet facilities were nowhere near (they were in the middle of all the luxury statics...?) and were the most basic I've seen on any campsite, and the shower was 20p! The washup area was not undercover and totally exposed to the elements. No elsan point anywhere. Only one standpipe for the four touring fields. Expensive at £12 for two adults in small tent(no ehu)

July 2004 A quiet site within ten minute drive of Hay on Wye. However, the pitches are sloping and the facilities are poor. We only saw one water tap (in the next field) and the tolets / shower were in another part of the site where the static caravans are situated. This was unfortunate as we were warned by the owner not to walk by them
