We stayed in their static caravan. The owners were really friendly and helpful. The site was lovely and clean. The caravan was clean and had everything needed to enjoy our stay. I liked how you could park right outside and there was a picnic bench just for us. The site feels safe and secure there is a nice on site atmosphere. There is a gate barrier at the entrance that is closed from 11pm to 8am and there is a one way road around the site. The site is down a short road at the top of Acomb which is just off the main road so the access is great. There are also several Hadrian Wall sites nearby. Excellent stay and will no doubt recommend and return.

I agree with the previous reviews - easily the nicest site of the 5 we used when hubby walked Hadrians Wall. It poured while we were there ( just 1 night) so didn't venture out, but village within a mile - downhill on the way there, so maybe a bit harder work on the way back!

Wardens very friendly and helpful, although did comment that thought we weren't coming when we arrived at 4. 30pm! Maybe best to advise them in advance if you're going to be arriving after 4pm.

Toilet block spotless. Lots of hot water, soap, hand and hair dryers.

Good value.

We'll be back.

A truly fantastic site - just booked it 'on spec', and utterly delighted. Great wardens, and fantastically helpful assistant wardens - site set in separate fields, very friendly, great facilities, and everyone seemed happy and relaxed. Kids playing, birds singing, and totally relaxing. Everything we wanted, and more. We will be back.

This was our first ever caravanning adventure after being campers for a few years. We came across this site as we were looking for a 'bolthole' close (ish) to where we lived for last minute weekend getaways. The site was very easy to find following the instructions from the site's website and we arrived on site to be met by Lynne, the receptionist who couldn't be more pleasant. Once booked onto the site, we were given a keycard for the barrier and were led to our pitch by the Site Warden who guided me as I reversed our unit onto the pitch. Nothing was too much trouble and he was more than happy to chat and explain the facilities on site.

What a site it was! Set in 15 acres of woodland at the top of a hill overlooking the Tyne Valley.

There is a lovely walk down the hill and back up through Acomb which took us about an hour. On the way, we passed the Sun Inn which is mentioned in the brochure as a dog friendly pub serving food (more on this later). For our evening meal, we ordered a delivery from Acomb Tandoori, who deliver to the site and I would recommend highly.

The next day after a visit to Hexham which is only a 5 minute drive away we thought we would sample the fayre at the previously mentioned and much hyped Sun Inn. After finding a table I approached the bar to order some food only to be told 'No food here mate'. As we turned to leave, a local told me that the Queen's Arms down the street did food. One Roast pork with perfect crackling and a roast beef dinner later, we were both fed, full and happy and would highly recommend this pub for a Sunday lunch.

Back to site, the facilities were well situated, easy to access and immaculately clean. Unlimited hot water in the showers - Perfect.

In summary, this site is a little gem, perfectly situated in a woodland setting with plenty of good walks on your doorstep. The nearest town is Hexham only a few minutes drive away. I must also mention the Fruit scones with double cream, strawberry jam and fresh strawberries, prepared to order in the reception's cafe area which are to die for.

Now that we are back home, we are already planning our next trip to this lovely place.

We spent the weekend at Fallowfield and we had a great time. Loads of walking areas for the dog around this lovely site. Because it is so well spread out, you don't realise just how big it is or how many people are on the site, yet it isnt crowded, just the opposite - we found it to be quite peaceful. We met one of the wardens when we arrived and what a character he was, he made us feel really welcome and it felt like we'd known him forever! He told us to pay the next day and showed us how to get to where were staying. The pitch was even and well accessed with plenty of room between the pitches. Met up with the other wardens on the Saturday and they made us feel just as welcome. There is a small office/shop where you pay your fees and can get bits and bobs of groceries etc. We treated ourselves to some of their home made baking. If you do go there make sure you try the sultana scones!

The shower blocks were fine with plenty of toilets and half a dozen washing cubicles with hairdryers. They warned us about switching the shower on and wait for the water, yup, it was just as he said but the water was lovely and hot and not on a timer. There were plenty of water taps and disposal units around the sites and also plenty of bins.

We never went into Acomb but we did have a takeaway delivered which was gorgeous. Hexham is literally five minutes down the road for shopping or eating so your never stuck for anything to do. We will certainly be going back again.

The location of this site is remote, it isnt easy to access with anything more than a modest sized tourer. Having said that the site is beautiful, with lots of natural wildlife. Pitches are level and of generous size, Shower blocks are well tended but the showers themselves can be a bit dodgy sometimes there is hot water which you cant seem to control although the showers are constant not push button but you may go another day and find the water is only tepid and there isnt much you do to regulate it as for chemical disposal this is where for me the site failed quite badly. We stayed a week and by Tuesday the chemical disposal point was blocked up, The on duty park warden was told and said it would be sorted out, by the time we left the following weekend, nothing had been done and by then it stank and was backing up quite badly I spoke to other people who had also mentioned it to park management. This was a shame on an otherwise lovely location and a handy little shop on site that had a good supply of basics. I don't think I would return simply because the area is well served by equally good sites who don't have the problems I encountered here

We went to this site on our very first weekend away in our new caravan. We finally arrived after 9 pm on the friday night and we rang a telephone number on the door and someone appeared within a couple of minutes. He said to pay the next day and gave us a barrier card. We managed to set up with the help of friends with no problems. Next day we met the warden and his wife and what lovely chatty, friendly and trusting people they were. Toilets and showers very clean, warm and perfectly usable. All in all, a great weekend retreat and can't wait to go back.

Having previously camped at the site on a number of occasions which were great we decided to take tourer and spend 3 nights there. The facilities are second to none with plenty water & disposal points, electric hook ups & the toilets are immaculate with plenty of sinks, toilets, showers and hair drying cubicles.

The site is set amongst the trees which act brilliantly as windbreakers and the views are great. Plenty of walks to neighbouring villages and pubs with Hexham being a stones throw away.

The staff are friendly and very accommodating and they do patrol the site at night to ensure that all comply with noise regs.

Busy site great for kids and dogs and we have found that for all its busy it is a quiet site.

Nice dog walk into Acomb which brings you to the Sun Pub, great for a pint & meal.

We will definitely be going back before Xmas

We were very impressed with the drive down to the campsite. On arriving at the reception we were greeted by the most friendly couple you could wish to meet Ian and Liz. They explained everything to us about the site, where the facilities were how the automatic gates work and where our pitch was.

Liz then told us that Allison the owner would be selling her home made pies, quiche and scones at 9am on the Saturday morning, and may I say the corned beef pie and scones were yummy! We asked if there was a take away near, save us cooking, Liz gave us a menu for the Indian take away, she said it was beautiful food, and sure enough she was right. We both said it is definitely the best indian takeaway we have had anywhere.

We had a walk around the campsite and I have to say it is the best one we have stayed at, the pitch was perfect, toilet facilities were outstanding. We have booked to return bank holiday weekend.
