A lovely private and secluded site, surrounded by trees. Located only ten minutes drive from Hexam and a Tesco Extra.
There is a small basic shop on site but it is not always open.
The site itself is very busy with permanently sited vans, but when we went hardly a soul to be seen.
The toilet/shower facilities were spacious and lovely and clean but badly let down by no heating and only luke warm water in the showers. Perhaps this is why the site was like a ghost town in April!
Would happily go back as this is our only complaint, but only during warm weather.

This is the 1st time staying here
We have already made our mind up of staying again very shortly
The site is very quiet
The toilet block is spot on cleaned every day
Only a short walk is a little village with 3 pubs in it
If your looking for a total chill out this is the place to come
The owners & staff are brilliant
You must try the home baking its lush
All in all a very good place to park up for a night or wk or a month
Ideal for days out either to the lakes or Scotland or Northumberland coast
You don't need the x factor here to enjoy yourself
We will be back

Ran the annual gauntlet of camping during the October school holidays.
Despite the predictably unpredictable weather we enjoyed a great stay.
Fallowfield Dene is remote and in a wonderfully rural area, while only being 10 minutes from the lovely town of Hexham. Great for Hadrians wall, Kielder Water and about 25 minutes or so from Newcastle. The site has plenty of showers, toilets, washing facilities and great for dog walking. Mariners Cottage Hotel has a public bar and is just up the lane. Awesome.

We turned up here without a booking and they did everything they could to find us a pitch for 3 nights. They could not have been more helpful.
The toilet and washing up facilities were great and very near our pitch which could not have been better.
Dog walking just off the site was brilliant, fantastic countryside and views.
Hexham is lovely and everything you might need. We were recommended a pub and restaurant called The Boatside Inn in Warden about 10 mins drive, absolutely fantastic, the curry night on Thursday was exceptional, we loved it so much we went on all 3 nights.
We spent a whole day doing the Hadrians Wall sites, it was great but expensive. In the end we bought a special membership offer from English Heritage and saved ourselves a fortune.
My husband loved the site and so did I but I felt very hemmed in by all the trees, our pitch only got 2 hours of sunlight a day 6 - 8 am.

We live 35 miles from this site and did a reccy a few weeks ago visiting most of the sites west of Newcastle as far as Haltwhistle.
In my opinion it is the best site in the area. Easy to get to and well signposted (brown signs)from the A69 to Acomb up a hill with some parked cars to get past. Watch out for the brown sign as you pass the pubs, it is on the right and you don't see it until the last minute. The last bit is a long straight lane with passing places so watch out for oncoming vehicles.
There are lots of seasonal tourers and a few statics. Three areas for touring are available, mostly for touring caravans but tents are allowed in some areas, with and without electric. Two of these have large grass areas which are good for young children but no swings/play areas. Older children might be bored.
I had a quiet walk around the site in the evening and counted nine rabbits but no squirels. No clubhouse but there are pubs in the village if you don't mind a long (1. 5 mile?) walk.
The heated toilet blocks are very good, kept nice and clean. Ladies has 12 toilets, 6 showers and as well as normal sinks there are separate cubicles with sinks, mirrors and hairdriers. Gents has 6 urinals, 6 toilets, 6 showers, 2 cubicles with sinks and hair driers.
There is a row of sinks also. Other facilities, Water, Waste water, Toilet disposal, Dish washing up areas all nice and clean.
Basic shop at reception. Hexham is close for shopping. Tesco and Waitrose. Tesco cafe is very limited, not impressed. Robbs cafe is quite good in the town.
Ideal situation for Roman Wall visitors with Housteads. Vindolanda and Chesters Fort close by.

We booked at Fallowfield rather late for our Easter break, but luckily we managed to get a pitch after trying unsuccessfully with some other sites.
As new caravanners we hadn’t been to this site before, but as it had favourable reviews we decided to include it in our search for a ‘Site for Easter!’. The site is located by the small village of Acomb, just North of Hexham off the A69. The approach is a little tight as others have mentioned. From the main road in Acomb you access the site via a single track lane with a couple of passing places, followed by a little wooden bridge before the sharp left turn into the site itself. Don’t get me wrong, it is perfectly accessible for even the biggest of double axle vans, but for the less experienced, it seems a little hairy at times!
The site itself mainly caters for residential tourers, with only three sections out of the nine allocated for touring caravans including one for tents. This isn’t our preferred set-up, as we prefer a site composed of more tourers than residents, but that’s just our preference from days of tent camping! The site itself is quite enclosed in terms of space and trees. We were located on a pitch shaded under some trees, so in order to seek the sun, which there was some of despite it only being Easter, we had to resort to pitching our chairs well in front of our pitch on same unallocated grassland.
The wash/toilet block was right next to us, and was of a high standard, no complaints there. Despite being quite a large site, we never had to queue for the showers or toilets. Water & waste management was located right next to the wash block, making it a very quick simple hike to do the necessary with regards water and waste.
The reception doubles as a shop selling most of the basics, along with good information on the surrounding area. Walks in either direction take you to Fallowfield or Acomb, not that there’s much to see but it is pleasant enough. The village of Acomb has a couple of pubs but not much else. Better instead is a trip into Hexham which is only a 10min drive away. Here you have access to Waitrose and a Tesco’s along with the towns shops, including Rob’s which serves a mean breakfast for a reasonable cost!
The site is situated well for access to Hadrian’s wall, a good stop off point travelling North to South and vice versa. There are many other good vantage points from this site, but the site itself is limited. There are no children’s play areas, or ball games permitted. No on-site facilities to speak of as such, but we found many children happily playing around on their bikes and water pistols!
To summarise, not our favourite type of site, but no complaints as such, other than the boiler room which makes quite a noise at all times if you are located near to it like we were! Very friendly staff, barrier access, worth consideration!

We stayed here for 2 nights and were very pleased with the site.
The staff were friendly and the lady in charge had organised a fun day to raise money for a local charity which was a nice thing to do.
The toilets were clean and well looked after. The pitches were a good size and level. We walked into Acomb and had a drink in a nice local pub, not a long walk either.
The shop was well stocked with a lot of leaflets with things to do in the area. We did not have any trouble with midges but took candles just in case.

I think we picked the best week in the middle of May - we had perfect summer weather. We found the owners very friendly and very helpful. We booked in, paid a £5 refundable deposit for a gate card and were allocated a lovely flat pitch with an electric hook-up.
The toilet blocks are fabulous - plenty of toilets, at least 6 showers and private cubicles with wash basins and hairdryers. Toilets were cleaned every day. The washing up area was located outside with some shelter - three sinks in total with draining racks. Water was hot.
The only thing lacking in the park was a playground. But our three children kept themselves busy. There is a small shop on site, stocking the essentials and loads of brochures for places to visit.
Hexham has a Tesco store. Hadrian's Wall was amazing and we would recommend a walk along it. We were originally going to stay for 4 days but ended up staying for 7 days.
Prices were very reasonable and included the electric hook-up and use of showers and hairdryers etc. We will definitely be going back there!

Just back from this site and can give it a fair review. This is our first visit and I am pleasantly surprised. The directions to the site are not very clear, so when you go into Acomb look for a tight right hand turn.
The site is uphill all the way and another tight left hand turn you are on a single track road with passing places. At the end you come to Fallowfield and yes there is a tight squeeze again over a wooden bridge into the entrance (that's If you have a large caravan).
Once there you are greeted by the nice people who run this site who give you directions to the Tourer field, but listen very carefully or you will do what we did and take the wrong entrance and have to go all the way around the one way system, which takes ages.
The pitches are big sized and everything is to hand, ie water etc. The shower blocks are large and clean. This site is a small Tourer site as such as it mainly has static Tourers which never move, and is very wooded so sometimes not a lot of light. However we went on a really hot weekend and the Touring bit does have sun.
The surrounding area of Hexham and the Roman Wall is fantastic and promotes the North East very well.
The only down side to this place is 'Midgies' if you get bitten then don't come here as it is alive with them in the summer months. I would go back to this site as it is one of the 'cheapest' around at the moment and with the rising price of touring with your caravan that is a godsend.

Overall very good, the site I think is more geared to caravans etc, as the tent pitches we saw were not fantastic, they were quite uneven and quite a few stones or very hard earth under the grass, I would recommend taking extra pegs I went through a few this time.
The toilets etc were very clean and tidy, and good heating, there seemed to be plenty of showers and toilets as I never had to queue to get in one.
It's a shame there is no ball games allowed but I can kind of see why as there is not a lot of space between pitches and damage can be done, but there is a lot of tree's to go running around in and there were kids seeming to be having a lot of fun running around.
The staff were very friendly and welcoming, and I couldn't fault them, there are freezers for putting your ice blocks in if you want to, you just need to ask and they will make space, as it's mostly caravans I don't think they get asked very often as ours were the only ones I could see.
