Our first family camping experience and what a great one! After breaking a pole due to wind at a nearby site we arrived here with our tent repaired with sticky tape! It's a beautiful location and very well sheltered from the wind. There were high winds at night, making a fair amount of noise in the trees, but the tent held up. Had we been on the previous site we would have been blown away!

The owners were very welcoming and hospitable. Fees were reasonable and facilities, although basic were clean and effective. The location is a little remote, but that's part of the appeal. If you want a 'proper' camp-stie that is accessible by road, this is just the job!

Very close to Edale, this camp-site hence has the nearby facilities comprising the moorland centre, two pubs, a Post Office (including a tiny local shop) and the train station with links to Manchester and Sheffield.

The site itself is very good; the plots are well-spaced even in peak season and the shower/toilet block is clean and functional (although small and basic).

In conclusion, this is, in my opinion, the best site to stay at if you arrive at the station intending to begin the Pennine Way the next day (as I did) or finish the Pennine Way in Edale.

Stayed here for five days and the site is in a great area and good base for walking. Week we stayed it was only busy on the weekend. Was plenty of hot water but the toilets and shower is basic but for the price it for true campers, Shops and pubs are a good one and a half miles away. Told friends about this and there going to book up and stay next year

Just been to this site and the area is out in the wilds, the hills are around you so you get great views from where you are. There are walks on your site so you will not need to drive any where we stay for the week and the only time it got busy was onthe weekend . We had a group of 30 kids staying a bit noisy until the teacher told them to shut up.The toilets and one shower is basic but plenty of hot water. Weather for this time of year was good only 2 days where bad high winds and heavy rain the morning we left, nearest pub is 2 miles away so bring so with you, Plenty of sheep around and some hens. If you arrive and no one there put up the tent we did because noone was there until 5.30 that night.

Well for October, this site was a pleasure to stay at.

It's not hard to find, and we were made welcome upon arrival. It's just round the corner from Highfield Farm, and doesn't have quite the same views, but that's being very picky as it's simply breathtaking!

The field itself is split into a smaller lower section closest to the farm and the toilets, and doesn't have vehicle access; the upper field is more open, but has vehicle access up a partially made track right to the top of the field. The trick is to get up on the track then swing round to point downhill in case wet weather makes the field slippery. The owners quite fairly say you take your car on at your own risk, and may charge you for a tow off, but be sensible and you'll be fine.

Not the most level of sites, but it only took us 5 mins to pick an area that combined the best of shelter, views and levelness. After 2 days there was a bit of squelchy mud appearing outside the tent door but nothing that couldn't be dealt with by using another door or turning the tent to rest the grass a littler. Drainage generally was good considering the time of year and the lovely wet summer - no tents seen to sink!

Facilities - absolutely fine! The loos are dry, clean and lit. The shower was clean, hot and free! Yes there is a small population of daddy longlegs and the usual insects - but this is camping! I'd be happy to stay here a week with what there is.

The odd whiff of drains was there - but so was the odd whiff of sheep, and everything else that actually makes the countryside not the town. Nothing offensive and nothing to be worried about - after all the owners live right next to it so it can't be that noticeable.

It is the sort of place that seems to attract parties of school children, Air Cadets and the like - a good indicator of the site's excellence I guess - but it can lead to a bit of congestion in the loos as they can all be trying to get ready at the same time. A discreet word with the group leader did the trick, and really it;s great to see young people out learning to enjoy the lack of creature comforts.

2 pubs 20 minutes walk away, excellent scenery, excellent walking right from the farm gate, and 40 minutes drive from where I work. Yes we definitely will be back!

The site was easy to find off the road to Edale, checked in at the reception behind the main farm house and drove round the back. There's one main field, sloping but plenty of flat ground at the top and bottom, then a smaller group field down towards the facilities and farm.

Only a handful of other people around at this time of year so didn't encounter any problems with the two toilets one shower setup - though it was a little disconcerting brushing your teeth next to schoolkids doing their washing up.

The surroundings are absolutely spectacular, right in amongst the peaks with incredible views. Lots of walks from the area and two good pubs in Edale, plus a small Post Office and general store.

Will definitely return next year for the scenery and site ambience.

Lovely basic camp site, they have little cafe and do sandwiches for you, also breakfast, which in bad weather appreciated. Good area even when windy, very friendly, good walks straight from it like kinder scout.
Would love to go back. Good site for animals and dogs, no late nighters here only decent people wanting quiet good time. Away from every thing. A good walk to nearest village and pub but ideal for long weekend. Very cheap well worth a stay

This situation of this site is great - we stayed for a weekend walking and didn't use the car at all, just walked from the campsite. The views are beautiful. We also walked to the pub in Edale and had a meal - good food and a friendly pub.

The facilities were basic which would be fine, except that they could really do with a thorough clean. The block and surrounding area smelt strongly of an overfilled septic tank (which included the washing up area). Although I managed to get a hot shower, two members of our party had to queue and then had stone cold showers. After this, another member of our party decided to skip the shower and went for a dip in the river that runs next to site (he decided it would be more hygienic and less smelly than using the shower on the site).
The shower/loo block have concrete floors which don't show the dirt, but the walls of shower and wash up area were full of mould. Having said all that, for the price, I really shouldn't complain.

We only stayed for a couple of nights which was fine, but I wouldn't stay for longer periods as I would prefer a dishwash area which was cleaner.

Both nights the noise of people talking died down at about midnight.

Overall the camping area has a lovely relaxed atmosphere it feels like a place to really chill out.

Just returned from a two night stay at Upper Booth Farm. Had a fantastic time - views from the top field are stunning. We were part of a group, lots of children with us. Took a lovely walk up Jacobs Ladder, the children loved it! There are many walks from the site and once set up there's no need to return to the car until you leave.

There is a stream running along the side of the site, which is fenced off, the children spent hours playing in the water - great fun.

Ice cream is sold on site and what a treat that was after a long walk. Beef/lamb burgers, eggs are available to purchase - great burgers for BBQ.

The site is basic, clean with plenty of hot water. We will definitely be back, on our own and as a group.
