First time ever camping, was not sure what to expect and to be honest a little bit nervous about it. There are two adults, three children and two dogs in our group.
On arrival the lady at reception was very nice, took us to our pitch and gave us the code for the toilet block. The tents are in a separate area from the caravans and has a large cooking area in the middle, a lot of space for the kids to run around and play and very close to the toilets and showers.
The play park is in a separate area so you couldn't see the kids when they went exploring but the feel of the site was a very safe and friendly one.
The toilets where absolutely spotless and considering it was June I only ever met one other person in the toilet the whole time I was there. There was good lighting at night to find your way to the toilet block.
The site is in a lovely location, the dogs had a nice swim in the river and the castle is very close by.
The only downside I could find on this campsite is the amount of trees so the birds chirping very early in the morning woke the kids up but that can't be helped. Maybe the fact we left food around the campsite encouraged the crows.
For a first time camping experience I found it a very pleasant trip and would definitely return to Huntly. One thing which would just make this campsite ideal would be to allow fire pits but we had our barbecue going late at night and no-one seemed to mind.

I visited this site mid-May after reading all the positive comments and we were very disappointed. The site is nicely laid out and Huntly is a quiet Town that seems slightly run down and there was some nice walks down by the river if you don’t mind travellers camp.
My biggest disappointment was the gangs of children playing around the toilet blocks and riding their bikes up the main road through the campsite, we actually had to swerve to miss them several times. There were at least four different groups and they were running wild and it upset several people near my pitch but as always we never complain were British. The worst of it was there was a warden cutting grass who ignored the children’s behaviour. The children were unrelenting from morning to night.
My other compliant was the grass cutting which I know has to be done but surely not from 9am to 6pm at night with a short break for lunch. This chap cut one field and that didn’t satisfy him so he went back to cut it again even shorter. He also unplugged our electric and TV leads while we were sitting in our van. We complained to the other warden when he was taking his pug for a walk but he didn’t really what to take the complaint.
The facilities weren't bad and the toilet blocks were clean.
All in all I was very disappointed and I won’t be returning there for some time.

Just visited this site and it was excellent. Great for kids and older people alike and there is camping areas to cater for all tastes. Town is very peaceful and there are excellent walks along the River and the surrounding area. The site is well maintained and showers are very clean.
After experiencing many grumpy wardens on many sites it was excellent to come across wardens who were helpful and happy. The wardens are a couple of Geordies and went out of their way to help us. They tuned our TV and even offered to drive us up town to get some toilet blue because the site had ran out.
I recommend this site to anyone and we will certainly be returning soon

This was one of my favourite campsites in Aberdeenshire and I have been visiting it regularly for years.
It is a peaceful part of the world with many fine walks from the campsite into Huntly and the surrounding countryside.
The toilet/shower blocks are clean and there are plenty of showers.
Unfortunately I have seen the site deteriorate over the last three years. There have been different wardens there every season and this may be a factor. All pitches with hard standings require weeding and all the signage is falling apart. Dog walking signs have fallen down and are left where they have fell.
The entrance is also shabby and the gate is falling apart. All the guttering and drain pipes which must have been damage in the winter snows are dilapidated and hanging off buildings.
There is an indoor playing area for children called the Boogie Dragon which costs £6 for two hours. However entrance is covered in weeds and they are heaps of gravel and tractors right in front of the entrance. The car park has a derelict car parked in it and there are at least a further six scrap cars parked next to the main car park which looks a sight.
It has also become very expensive to stay here in comparison with other sites; it costs £22.75 for two people and a motorhome with hook up. Their gas is at least three quid dearer then at other sites and the price of the washing machine and dryer is extortionate. They have wireless internet at the site but at £6 a day it is very expensive to use.
I hate to be critical of this site but I am giving an honest analyse of the site. It is a shame because it was once such a lovely site.

We stayed here for 2 days mid week after returning from the Western Isles and the worst weather we have ever had on a touring holiday! However by the time we arrived at Huntly things had definitely improved weather wise and we enjoyed two days of glorious warm and sunny weather.
We really loved this site. It was mid week and the school holidays hadn't begun so it was ultra quiet. The facilities were really clean and the wardens friendly and helpful.
The small town of Huntly is within walking distance and friendly and attractive. We visited Huntly Castle and can recommend it. Although a ruin there are loads of rooms to explore and plenty of photo opportunities.
Would use his site again.

This is a lovely clean, friendly campsite. Staff are welcoming and friendly and personally take you to your pitch on their bicycle. Facilities are excellent, plenty of well maintained toilet / shower blocks, washing up facilities and disposal points, which are all kept immaculately clean and tidy.
The site is situated next to the River Deveron which is a nice walk but also close to two large supermarkets for those things you can't do without! We particularly like the idea of a 'no drive' policy so that users who return after eleven at night leave their vehicle at the locked gates so as not to disturb other campers with engine noise or headlights.
This site is also ideal for those who wish to do the 'castle trail' and for those who indulge in lifes little pleasures, the whiskey trail is also worth doing.
All in all a lovely relaxing campsite well worth the stay.

We spent two nights here. Unfortunately the week prior to our visit saw lots of rain fall and the pitch was still a little waterlogged. The campsite was at full capacity during our stay but did not feel busy or overcrowded. The toilet/shower blocks were always spotless and I never had to queue.
We did find the children's play areas/park a little disappointing. This campsite is not cheap and felt there could have been a better park.
There is plenty to do in the surrounding area and one of our favourite trips was to the falcon centre and the 'Deans' shortbread factory which is a must visit.
Stocking up on food is not a problem as a Tesco is a 5 min walk from the site and an Asda is roughly 5mins in the car.

Stayed one night, one adult and 3 boys. The area was well maintained and we were given a great pitch pointed out by a friendly warden. Short grass, properly drained. Toilet and shower facilities which are the most important aspects for us, were new and the best I have seen, spotless and fresh smelling. Friendly staff helped make this a very pleasant stay and we would return in future. This would be a fantastic base to explore the North East of Scotland including the nearby whisky trail.

The best site we have ever been to. Showers and toilets were spotless. Site was kept clean and tidy. The site wardens were friendly and helpful
There were lovely walks into Huntley and to the castle Our son enjoyed the tubing at the Nordic centre that's when we could drag him away from the play areas on site. Tesco was only a few minutes walk away cant wait to go back!

We came here for a weekend break. This is a great site, plenty room on your pitch which most are hard standing, there is three sections for tourers separate from the statics and another section mixed with tourers and tents.
The wardens are very nice and helpful, the site sells some basics and you can order morning papers. Toilet block I used was up to scratch and kept very clean. The town has plenty shops, pubs, carryouts and an Asda and Tesco.
Round about the site plenty of river walks, playfields and golf course,
