This site is a caravan club site - I didn't realise until we got there - so it's dear, but it's a lovely site and the kids adventure playground wooden stuff is better than swings etc. Kids enjoyed tubing and the river's lovely and we went in the castle - it's odd as there's ASDA and Tesco within a mile but there you go. I thought Huntly was spun well on the brochure - town itself seemed run down and the advertised best coffee house reeked of chip fat so we didn't go in there! Loved the falconry centre and now you can go to the RSPB peregrine falcon watch as well. The best parts of Huntly are round this site.

A good simple site with good toilets friendly people and lovely area.
Located perfectly to explore the Highlands whisky trail. Also situated on the castle trail with Huntly castle and park just next door and the river Deveron {good fishing} running close by. Nice walks and town centre 5 mins walk from site with cafes, museums, swimming pool, and nice bars for the evening.

Just returned after visiting this excellent site, well laid out and immaculately clean, especially the toilet/shower blocks. The wardens were busy getting things ready for the winter break but still spent time to talk to you about the site and the area.
The local area is well equiped with everything you require with 2 large supermarkets situated at each end of the town. The town itself has lots of interesting shops and places to visit(Huntly Castle).
Would certainly recommend this site to anyone visiting the area.

Ok, we did do a return trip and it was as good, if not better, than our first trip.
As I was travelling with the kids on my own, one of the wardens parked the van [saved a lot of trouble].
The facilities were spotless and with the three different toilet blocks there was never a queue. The kids once again were able to mix with the plethora of children on site [we were lucky that there was a sports coach 2 up from us and he had the kids 'training' in the evening].
With the big park only 5 mins away and, for the more adventurous, nordic skiing and tubing next to it, this really is a family friendly area. Even spent 2 afternoons paddling in the river [as did half the town].
Not surprisingly we will again return.

Stayed here for 3 nights to try out my new tent as it was only a 30 minute journey from home should things go pear-shaped with the new purchase! Have got to say that this is an excellent site, well thought out with plently of shower / toilet blocks and play areas for kids. The setting is lovely and a couple of minutes walk to the river and Huntly Nordic Ski & Outdoor Centre, which arranges daily bike hire as well as lots of other outdoor pursuits. Everything is within walking distance and it took us 10 leisurely stroll to reach the town centre. The staff here were wonderful and couldn't do enough to help, all of the public facilities were kept meticulously clean and there were undercover areas for BBQ-ing. There is a reasonable sized Tesco 5 minutes walk from the site and on the other side of town is an Asda, the town itself has 3 Butchers and an array of hardware and general stores. Only visited 1 pub although there are quite a few but chose this one because it had a beer garden (Yes, the sun was shining!), there is also a Swimming Pool in the town to keep the kids amused on wet weather days. Huntly castle was well worth a visit and is also just a couple of minutes stroll from the site. Although there was no shop on site you may order bread/rolls morning papers etc at the reception for the following morning. There is a refundable £10 deposit for the key to the shower and toilet blocks. We will definitely come back to this site as it it is in beautiful surroundings and extremely well maintained.

This site is probably one of the closest to us, so OH had to be persuaded that it was a good idea to come here.
On arriving, as we had booked in advance, the wardens had already marked a pitch for us that over looked one of the play areas. This went down very well with both our children and also with us.
The facilities were spotless and so was the site.
There is a great river walk in to Huntly and the castle. There is also a large Tesco's just up from the caravan park [handy for buying hot chicken!]
We loved this site and the children have already asked that I bring them here in the summer. As there is a pool in Huntly and a soft play area on the site, there will be indoor things to do if the weather isn't so great.
[Even OH had to admit that this site was as good, if not better than the reviews!]

Excellent site only a few minutes from the town, supermarkets and the castle. Spacious and well kept, this site has very good facilities and is totally level.
Excellent for a few days stop or as a touring base for the area. For wildlife lovers, Falcon watch centre and Hawk centre are only a few miles away.
Thoroughly recommended.

This is a site my family visit at least once every year. It is the ultimate chill-out for those with a young family. There is so much space for the kids to run around in, and so many rabbits for them to chase. Black, fawn, brown and even white ones! Touring caravans tend to be located in circular areas of about 15 or so pitches, each with its own toilet block that is fairly new and spotlessly clean. In the middle of some of these circular areas is some fairly basic play equipment for children. If you book ahead and tell them you have children, you will usually be located in ones of these areas. The kids congregate round the play-equipment and make lots of new friends, leaving the parents plenty of time to meet new friends of their own over a beer or glass of wine. There is an indoor softplay area (not owned by site) by the entrance to the site. Young children can enjoy this, and you can visit any number of times during the day for one admission fee. Huntly is a pleasant, small rural town (but big enough to have a several supermarkets). The river is nearby and safe enough for kids to play in in the summer. Get the right weather and you can spend a very relaxing time here, although one week is probably long enough due to the lack of on-site entertainment (i.e. No bar). I would highly recommend this site so long as you are after sober relaxation and fresh air.

Isn't it great when someone puts a camp site together with all the right elements? You don't find many around, but this site must be one of the best. An ideal campsite, and excellent facilities. There are not even any speed bumps (makes you wonder what the other sites have them for in the first place).
There are many places to visit whilst you use this site as a base. Althought there's no shop on site, but the traditional Scottish town centre is just 10 mins walk away and Tesco and ASDA on hand nearby if you really need them.
The site has a helpful policy of separating couples from families, with the kids using the family area (a part of the site known as "Beirut" to the locals) occasionally whizzing around on the interlinking pavements as a cycle racetrack throughout the day from 09:00. You would think that the location of the site would encourage cycle rides out into the country. The site manager resists the urge to shoot, but all goes peaceful after a quiet word with them at 22:30 at the latest, just leaves the rather large rabbits nibbling on the grass in peace.
There is Huntly Castle a short walk along the lovely Deveron River (spot the Herons on the way).
Overall, you would not want to change this site from what it is, just about perfect, you might be wise to pick your pitch with care if you like things quiet and child-free, but it's often full so you might just as well take your chance with a lucky dip. Site fees July 2006 were £17 a night for non-CC members. You won't be disappointed, we weren't.

Just spent the weekend at Huntly and just had to tell everyone how good it was. This was our first time camping, my partner and I with two little girls. I can't emphasise how impressed I was with the actual camp site. IT WAS SO CLEAN! Everything was so well laid out and the whole place was spotless. FAULTLESS! I would recommend everybody to go.
