We decided to try camping for the 1st time with our dog on Spring Bank Holiday weekend and this was the 1st site we found and they could fit us in so we decided to give it a go.
Good points: lovely views, great spot, private & quiet beach.
Bad: They are quite penny pinching, such as no toilet roll or soap, allocated times for showers and washing up, the toilet lights are turned off at 12 (?) which we found terrible. The pub may be only a mile away but there's no real way to walk it as its a winding dark lane so we decided not to try it out.
We did go back 2 weeks later for a weekend as a last minute idea, its pleasant enough but the owners are too interested in making money instead of investing.
We wont be going back there for a while!

We hired a motorhome for a week, and this was the first site we stayed at. It is in a stunning location and we really enjoyed the surroundings (especially the Britannia Inn). The campsite is quite basic, but the big problem was booking. There is no online booking and we tried to book by phone. We were told to just turn up and we asked for but were not given a price. On arrival we were charged £20, by far the highest price of the week for the most basic facilities. You have been warned.

This campsite is a lovely spot but one of the most expensive campsites I have ever stayed at - £17 per night. The facilities were OK and clean but were restricted. The washing up sinks were locked up outside set times and cost an extra 50p for hot water. The showers were also locked, opening for set times in the morning and evening. After midnight the toilet lights were switched off with no way of switching them on so you can see what you are doing when you need to go in the middle of the night and there is no toilet paper provided.
All in all the location is great and this campsite has lots of potential but the feel of the campsite for me was that they wanted to charge a lot of money to stay but not provide flexible facilities.
They need to relax a bit and realise that not all campers get up, wash and do washing up at set times. Camping is all about chilling out and slowing down - I dont want to be told when I can and cant do things - after all Im on holiday.

Upon arrival at the site we found the staff incredibly friendly. The location is perfect for beach access, and the surrounding area is very picturesque. As far as noise is concerned there is no messing around, as Mrs Price would not allow any abuse or music after 10 to 11 oclock. On reflection it is an ideal family site with site shop for all your needs, as well as a cafe. The toilets and showers were more than suitable and cleaned regularly. The family that are running the site need to be commended for their dedication and hard work. My family and I will be returning to this site for many more breaks.

We had a great time here during the may bank holiday. The site is good and clean and the surrounding area is just beautiful. The sunset was stunning. Mrs price is a really nice lady and we were made to feel very welcome here. The facilities here are basic but very useable and clean showers were hot but only open at certain times (you have to use your own toilet roll, which wasnt a problem). There is a small shop that has enough to help you out during your stay (papers, bread etc). This site is for relaxing as its quiet and children are welcome here. At the bottom of the site there are sand dunes and the pure unspoilt sea. A short drive back up the lane brings you to the pub and futher on a good stocked shop. Wales is a beautiful place and we will definately return to this camp site again.

Llanmadoc Campsite is a bit basic but great with it and if you want a "no-frills" family campsite with quick access to a good beach then you can't really go wrong with this site. Facilities are showers (8.30am-11 then 4.30-8pm though, meaning long queues at times), toilets, washing up sinks, water and in some places there are hookups (only on the caravan hard-standings I think) all of it is a bit "agricultural" but it is clean. There is also a Shop selling bare essentials (tinned veg, breakfast cereal, milk, loo roll, icecreams, beer, cider etc) and a little "cafe" attached to the shop that will do you bacon rolls, sandwiches and more. The site is run by Mr and Mrs Price who are delightful if you get on well, but I wouldn't want to be in Mrs Price's bad books thats for sure (well you wouldn't be remaining on the site for long I reckon). They seem to specifically want a "family" campsite and are as accommodating as they can be if you have little children, we took our 2 1/2 year old and 7 month old with us and didn't feel out of place (there were campers from 4 months old upwards and all seemed well behaved!) With that in mind, this is not the sort of campsite for you if you want to turn up and pitch your tent whilst having the foo fighters or eminem playing out of your car stereo; equally don't expect to be sitting up drinking and partying into the night. This is the sort of site where it gets quieter as the kids go to sleep, not the place for groups after boozy evenings or a noisy time. Mrs Price will simply remove you from the site if you are causing a disturbance - be warned. The beach is a huge stretch of Gowers finest with some rockpools at low tide and plenty of high quality "sandcastle grade" sand, the sea is usually calm, albeit there are sharp currents at different times of the tide so bathers beware. The path to the beach runs from the campsite for about 300m and is well made so you can get a pram or buggy down to it quite easily. Be warned that the five bar gate may well be shut though and the "kissing gate" beside it is to small to get a full sized pram through, there is usually a kind person around to help you lift a pram over the big gate though. The site is at the end of a dead-end road having driven down some very narrow lane stretches (passing places only) beforehand, accordingly take what you think you need for your stay to the site because "popping out" to the shop/pub will seem pretty unappealing once you get there. Turn up, pitch up and quietly enjoy the remote haven that is Llanmadoc - we will be going back! (Site shut from mid September)

Just had a couple of nights here. As the other reviews say, its not exactly 5 star but totally adequate and clean. I'm not quite sure why the showers are locked for a while midday but it wasn't a problem. Mrs Price was not about to stand for any nonsense but that's fine with me. One thing that was a bit annoying was the promise of a cooked breakfast in the small shop. Apparently the cook didn't show up. A real shame because this would be a really good service to offer! This will not stop me returning to the site but don't promise something you cant deliver. I would recommend the local pub, about 20 mins walk down a dark lane. The beer was reasonably priced but the food was poor and very over-priced. £6.50 for a meagre burger and a dozen or so chips, very poor value, but the surroundings make it worth calling in for an hour to see the view from the back garden. To sum up, I will definitely return here, stunning countryside, miles of empty beach, clean, everything I needed.

We went for a Saturday night and enjoyed it despite the facilities being extremely basic (and not terribly clean) and music continuing into the early hours. We had hoped the site would be very quiet but a few (young) groups were allowed to camp here despite the camp rules stating families and couples allowed only. It was actually quite noisy on the Sunday morning too with one party playing music via their car stereo but this didn't seem to bother anyone else. However the location is the main reason to stay here. A few minutes out of the field is the beach and it's almost totally unspoiled. It is reasonably isolated but that's the charm of it. We would use this site again but only really if others in the area were full. Also £17 for a 2 man tent for one night seemed quite steep especially for the facilities provided.

Simply, this will always be my favourite campsite. Found by accident after the M5 was at a stand still and turned down the M50, and followed my nose to the Gower. No set pitches, no frills just a good old fashioned campsite. Mrs Price is lovely and isn't nearly as frightening as she makes out. Okay the facilites aren't brilliant, but as a result I feel you get like minded campers, its always very friendly and there's always plenty of room.

Would agree with comments re shower and toilet facilities but this is a very basic camp site which is why we love it! Mrs Price sorts out any noise problems with the threat of eviction but on the many times we visited we only saw one small incident which was quickly sorted. Great place for kids and the beach is fab as there are no vehicles - access via foot at the bottom of the camping fields. Brittannia Pub nearby - food hit and miss - climbing frame and guinea pigs / rabbits for the kids. Nearby petrol garage great for provisions i.e. BBQ stuff.
