We had an enjoyable stay here, but it isn't the site for you if you want all the extras. There were 2 loo blocks, one of which was very basic and only visited the once, and the others which were fine but basic. Only 4 ladies showers for the campsite - so queues in the morning and dishwashing cost 50p apparently - we boiled our own water. It's one of the few sites on the Gower that allows dogs - with the result that our tent was surrounded by dog tents - who all barked at each other quite a bit. Thats the downside - the upside is that it is so close to the beach, with lovely views (including a nice sunset), and the campers on the site were very friendly. There was a shop selling basic food stuffs and spades etc, and doing ice-block exchange. I didn't allow my children to swim in the sea because I was worried about the rip currents but I saw plenty of others swimming. There was acres of sand for making sand castles, and a rock pool when the tide when out, rabbits and walks. We will return.

First visit back to this site in 20 years, after coming here with my parents in 70s / 80s. Same owners, and same basic farm site - animals, tractors, hay etc around the place. Basic facilities - toilets, showers and small shop (gas / milk / freezer blocks / tea & snacks / meat / cans (food and beer) / ice cream / beach toys etc). Good value, friendly, but some supply problems from time to time. Despite growth of static van parks at far ends of this bit of beach, still somewhere which feels remote and quiet. Back this time with young kids, who enjoyed running all over the site (minimal traffic / no roads etc) and the 2 min walk to beach. My favourite kind of site - quiet, basic and no 'gold taps'. No set pitches - find your own spot. Quiet in week - busier at weekends, but with large 'weekend camping' field. You might struggle if you are used to sites with extensive central facilities such as fridges, washing machines, free hot water for washing up etc - this site has none. A few electrical hookups present for those who like 240v in their tent (not me!) Would be a great shame in my view if this place developed further along those lines. Mrs Price friendly but formidable. Overall a fantastic week. July 06 - £14 per night for 2 adults, 2 young children.

After finding our own way there (the directions were awful!) we were met at the gate to be asked if we could be helped. I explained we were looking to camp to be told they did not accept groups after looking in my car for the others the "warden" could obviously see! Which I couldn't as there was 2 of us! I said we're hardly a group he explained they were a family and couples park and they did not accept two women on their own! And at 8o/clock at night we were turned away.

August 2005 We have been going to Llanmadoc camp site for years, great for kids, wonderful beach but do not swim in the sea on outgoing tide - strong undertow. Shop is basic and expensive, gas available at farmhouse, village pub about 2miles - not good food or welcome. Some hook ups available in camping field but best to book these in advance. All in all not a bad site if you don't mind basic toilet blocks. The view is stunning on sunny days plenty of walks and one of the few beaches that you can still take your dog on all year round. As for Mr + Mrs Price well what can you say, Alec is as good as gold, Elizabeth takes no prisoners but is fair . This is a wondreful site for families as no groups of youngsters are allowed to stay. We will be back.

August 2004 After twelve years of holidaying at the Llanmadoc campsite we went to Portugal last year seeking sunshine and a change. We really missed the Gower and so will be returning this year. Mr and Mrs Price are great people when you get to know them and have always been very enthusiastic about my kites, enjoying seeing them fly both day and night. Mr price loves showing the children his animals which he keeps in families when possible. He is particularly proud of hie Dexter cattle. I really appreciate the peace and quiet of the site and think the lack of amusements is a blessing. As other people have said it is a really special place.

May 2005 We went here over the May bank holiday and while the site was generally sufficient for our stay, it seemed to attract the people who could not get in anywhere else! It was situated down a very narrow and winding country road (with few passing places - so be very careful).
The toilets and showers left much to be desired, indeed - during our stay the toilets were blocked for the most part! We did not use the shop as we had taken all of our own food etc, but we understand that it was well stocked and reasonably priced.
The walk down to the beach at around 8.30-8.45pm is definitely worth it... the best sunset we have ever seen! If you like sunsets then you should definitely have a walk down to the beach one night during your stay, but the tide does start to come in all of a sudden! As my feet will happily tell you :)
An enjoyable stay, but limited facilities and a little out of the way for us.

June 2004 I have been to this campsite three times along with my husband and dog. It is one of the best located places in the world and when the sun is shining it is hard to understand why anyone would go abroad. The views are fantastic and the beach is wonderful. Even when its busy there's hardly anyone on it.
Mrs Price rules the place with a rod of iron and it is always best to stay on her good side. There are issues with the showers and sometimes it is necessary to pay a deposit for the key at quiet times. Having said that I'm always looking forward to my next visit.
Take a walk across the warrens towards the beach at about 5.00am and you will see hundreds of rabbits.
There's not much to do in the immediate vicinity but when the weather's good it is just enough to enjoy the surroundings.

June 2005 A beautiful quiet campsite with stunning views, and a very easy short stroll to the beach which is quite breathtaking, but watch out for dodgy currents in the seemingly inviting sea, my kids got pretty panicked about the strong undertow and were rapidly taken quite far out..
Dont be put off by your initial reception at the gate, Mr Price is a real sweeetie and I reckon Mrs is a bit of a pussycat underneath!..
Facilities ARE a bit under-maintained and basic, but in a nostalgic way reminded me of camping with my parents thirty something years ago..I would definitely use the campsite again as it has a very special charm of it's own.

August 2004 Fabulous location right next to a lovely beach which is great for kids and dogs. However the showers are a real pain- in 6 days I managed one decent shower. It was a cold wet week, and the fact that we couldn't even get warm in the showers was the last straw. As a campsite it is quite a way from anywhere- make sure you have enough gas as the nearest petrol station had run out.The food in the Britannia is below average pub grub and the shop on site is extremely expensive. We also found the site to be dirty-litter left lying around, toilets only checked once a day. However it was peaceful and the sunset was amazing.

May 2004 I've been using this site for may years (since my parents took me!) The beach is the only one left round the Gower which allows the dogs on in summer.
All the previous comments regarding Mrs Price & the showers, I agree with but the landscape, scenery and solitude make it worthwhile. It really is a beautiful place.
One other thing, I'd certainly phone before going, this year they didn't open in April as they were "too busy lambing" and they closed in mid Sept.
