Just returned after spending a fabulous New Year's Eve on this site and we really, really didn't want to leave.
Initially we had trouble getting the caravan onto the pitch due to water logging but with a lot of help and some grids we made it. I think this problem was caused due to the excessive rainfall we've had.
What a fantastically friendly site this is. An absolute gem, by far the friendliest we've stayed on to date.
There are 2 fields behind the pub, all pitches are within easy walking distance of it. We were pitched for 2 evenings and had 3 meals there. The food was really good and the home made steak and ale pie I had on our first visit was one of the best ever, stuffed full of really lean steak - compliments to the chef!
New Year's Eve was fantastic, a really friendly, family feel. Everyone signed up to play skittles and there was a real air of fun. There was also karaoke up and running in the back room and a delicious hot and cold buffet was included in the ticket price.
On New Year's Day evening there was a pub quiz, it was the first one my husband and I had ever taken part in, but again was great fun!
The only down side is that it's on a busy road and can be quite noisy, although after a bit we didn't take much notice.
There's also a really good play area for children and the pitches are nicely spaced apart.
We didn't venture out to explore the surrounding area but I'm sure we will next time we visit and we will definitely be visiting again.

Spent 2 nights at this site, the owners were very welcoming and we had an exceptionally good home cooked meal which was priced very competitively and my children eat every bit. The toilets and shower block was basic but clean with plenty of hot water. The cost of staying was reasonably priced as well.
This site is very close to the Bath & West Show ground and therefore makes a great base if you are attending an event at this venue also for the forthcoming carnivals at Wells & Glastonbury.
Would visit site again. Thank you

Stayed for only 3 nights mid August. We were made to feel very welcome by all of the family involved in running this site. Just as well it was only 3 nights or we would have put on pounds. Had pub meal here on 2nd night and came back to try a different dish on the menu the next night. Beer and cider was good, but the food was absolutely superb.
Pitches are large, flat, and well tended, all with electricity, at a really good inclusive price.
The toilet/shower block is basic but clean, and the water hot.
Easy to find, and if you don’t want pub grub every night the town centre is only a few minutes drive with a selection and restaurants, takeaways and a small supermarket.
We will certainly be returning to camp here again. It is a good base for the large number of attractions within easy reach that we have yet to visit and, of course, we must sample more of that fantastic menu.

After searching the UK Campsite for somewhere to stay in somerset, we plumped for the Brook House Inn, as we like a site which is not to big, caters for all, somewhere with food and a beer. We weren't disappointed on any of the above, we had a brilliant 4 nights in our tent. Site easy to find, nice friendly family run site with continuous improvements ongoing. Who go out of their way to make you welcome.
Would recommend to anyone who wants a good location in Somerset for visiting all the attraction within an hours drive.
Regarding other reviews about toilet/showers, there is 1 shower for males & 1 shower for females, they are in the same block, as most campsites are, but they are in opposite directions as are the toilets and sinks.
There is no pot washing facilities but plenty of hot water, so take a washing up bowl and dishcloth.
You have plenty of room for your tent, caravan or motor home, all pitches have electric.
Theres a playground area for children.
For the money with all electric, brilliant.
That good going again next year if not before.

We stayed at this site for a couple of days just before Christmas.
Quite frankly I'm loathe to say anything bad about the site as the owners were so nice and helpful, and as others have said the pub and food are really good and reasonably priced.
But the site facilities, showers and toilets were really bad, no washing up facilities, shared showers,(male and female) they really were not acceptable!
I understand that Wayne and Lyn are working very hard to bring everything up to standard, but feel we should have been advised at time of booking as to lack of facilities.
Also found site noisy, and a bit remote if you don't want to unhook your motorhome, but Castle Cary is a nice easy walk once you get off main road and well worth a visit.

A fantastic little site in a lovely part of Somerset
Wayne and Lynn are friendly and helpful. The food and beer in the pub are great. Really enjoyed the quiz night (maybe cos we won lol)
A flat well drained site. Pitches are a good size and the site is suitable for all ages
Will definitely being going back next time we are in the area
Toilet and shower block could do with updating but they were free and clean.
Castle Cary is worth a visit, a pretty market town with character.
Plenty in the area to see and do

This is a very friendly site on a very flat field at the back of the inn. There are male and female toilets with showers and an outside sink with plenty of hot water. The inn has a beer garden with children's play area. The landlord and lady are extremely friendly and helpful and the food is of very good quality at amazing prices prepared by the resident chef. We went as 2 adults and 2 children aged 12 and 10 and they were treated brilliantly. Very child friendly, nothing was too much trouble, good children's menu and ice cream cones available. Would recommend to all forms of campers.

Just spent another week here this time for 7 nights and there were 10 of us with great rates for 2 pitches.
The owners really welcomed us again the food was really great as well.
We choose this site again as all others major sites in the area would not let 10 of us stay in one tent and said we would need 2 tents and 2 pitches but we were allowed to have 10 in one tent we decided to take a second small tent but the price hardly changed.
A very friendly site and the park for the children was just as good.
We all had a great holiday and will definitely be coming back for another stay.

A group of us stayed there for the bank holiday weekend. The site itself was well maintained and the owners were very helpful and friendly. The cheese tasting evening was excellent with locally produced (and better, cheaper cheese than Cheddar). Unfortunately though, having read some previous reviews about the toilet block and washing up facilities being updated before this summer, I was disappointed that the toilets and showers were still basic and there were not enough showers. The washing up facilities are still exposed to the elements too. A shelter would be ideal. The site is located next to a fairly busy A road but the traffic never kept any of us awake. Aside from that, it was a most enjoyable weekend.
The surrounding area is beautiful with lots to see and do. Cheddar Gorge and caves are close by, as is Wookey Hole and Longleat. All of which are fantastic days out for the whole family. There is also lots of fantastic countryside to explore.
There is a Morrisons supermarket about 15 mins away as well as a large Tesco in Shepton Mallett.

I and my motorcycling friends absolutely loved it. So much so that we are planning on getting a few friends together and returning next year. We only stayed overnight on our way up north from cornwall but we totally smitten with it.
The owners are very friendly and helpful, they couldn't do enough for us. The site is flat and plenty of space between pitches. Toilets / showers are basic but very functional, no complaints at all.
Food at the pub was excellent and normal beer prices at the bar. I really cant praise this site enough, in fact I hope no one else reads this and we keep it for ourselves!
