Spent two nights here. A really nice little site. Easy to find, two minutes from the M74 at Junction 13.
Site has a good lay out with Static vans around the outside with Tourers and tents on the inside. Toilet / shower block was good and very clean. The grounds were well maintained and the access track was getting a bit of extra stone laid.
The owners (sorry I didn't get their name) were very friendly and helpful.
The county road at the top of the site, both directions was good for walking our dog. Had to keep him on lead a lot, due to sheep, but could walk for a fair bit, so all in all pretty good.
This site was recommended to us, and we were not disappointed.
Only little issue in the village was the local hotel not being dog friendly. We would have used it if it was.
A good couple of days.

I use this site regularly on my way to Scotland. It is 360 miles from swansea and is an ideal stopover. Site facilities are excellent, with a lovely welcome every visit. Showers and toilets always clean and plenty of hot water. The village is nice with a shop and hotel, which is great for a beer and a bite after a days travel.

This delightful campsite set just a couple of minutes off the M74. On the edge of Abtington village.
The village is about 5 min pleasant walk.
There is a main line railway that runs right past the campsite, but was surprised that heard very little noise when trains past by.
The campsite and village is a good way from any large towns, however found it a great location to visit many places, Glasgow 45 mins, Edinburgh, 55 mins, Dumfries approx 60 mins. Easy reach to most places
Most of the tourers were only there for one night using it as a stop over, however we stayed for 5 nights, and found it to be a great place to use as a base to visit many places in Central and southern Scotland.
The campsite has statics caravan, hardstanding pitches and a grass area for tents.
Hardstanding pitches with electric hook ups, Tv areal sockets.
Ablutions block was excellent, plenty of hot water, spotlessly kept. Good pot wash area.
I would strongly recommend campers to give it a try. Will definitely will be stopping there again. Loved it
Very peaceful place.

We only manage to get away on a Saturday afternoon after we shut our shop just after midday, so it is important to find a nice site within 50 - 60 miles of home. This weekend we selected Mount View at Abington just off the M74 and what a good choice. The site has static caravans round its perimeter but the site still feels like a touring site. Kept in very good condition with modern facilities kept spotlessly clean. There is children's play area with a climbing frame. We found plenty of places to walk our dog off site, a quiet road runs from Abinton to Crawford and makes for a lovely walk with the added attraction, the main north / south railway line with very frequent fast trains, I thought they were relaxing to watch ?. The rail line runs alongside the campsite, we didn't find the noise a problem and did not hear any overnight. The site owner was very welcoming. We will be going back.

We were looking for somewhere to break our journey from the Highlands down to Hull and this site is just about mid journey for us. It is very easily accessible from the M74. The site is neat and well laid out with permanent residential caravans on the outside and the touring hard standing pitches are dotted about in the centre so there are no long lines of touring caravans or motorhomes. It is grassed and tidy and it is amusing to watch the many rabbits scuttling about.
The central facilities block is well maintained and warm and was immaculately clean. There was a clean and tidy 'kitchen' area for washing-up and this also doubled as a useful information area. The chemical toilet disposal area is also in the facilities block and this was easy to use and very clean. The only downside from a motorhome point of view is that there is no 'drive over' disposal for grey waste. This would be a very useful addition. There are fresh water taps near every pitch.
Our welcome was very friendly.
As has been mentioned the major rail line into Glasgow right next to the site and the trains are frequent, even throughout the night. That said it did not wake us up. The site is only about a mile from the M74 so you do get that constant background traffic noise 24 hours. I expect that if you stayed there for a few days you would not notice it. On our short stop it was not a problem.
There are lovely walks all around the site and along the River Clyde and the surrounding hills make a lovely backdrop.
We will definitely be using the site again as a journey stop-over.

One night stay on site. Good clean toilet area, only gripe for this is have to exit shower area to access the toilets, but apart from that very clean and well maintained.
Good hard standing site plenty of space between pitches. Electric points water points and grey water disposal very handy to all pitches.
Bit expensive for end of season at. Twenty pounds for one night.
Good for a stop over on route to other locations.
Would recommend for this purpose.

Hidden Gem of a Site
Just back from two night stay at this site, we thought we would try to find something a little closer to home that we could use for a quick last minute escape and hit the jackpot with Mount View.
The site is well kept with gravel hard standing pitches, (if using an awning bring metal pegs and a BIG hammer)
A very clean and well kept toilet block and although in the same building, the showers are entered via separate doors and have the usual push button to avoid wasting hot water.
In all my years touring they have the biggest changing / drying space in each cubicle I have ever seen. Some may argue that two showers are not enough for this size of site but certainly wasn't a problem on this weekend.
Mobile phone and data signals are good together with free to air TV
As mentioned in other reviews, the main Scotland - England railway passes the edge of the site which for our nine year old was perfect entertainment, trains pass fairly quickly so the noise isn't a major issue.
There is a small play area for children and a shallow stream for messing about with fishing nets.
The site is perfect for an overnight stop if travelling from the south to places north of Perth and for a quick relaxing weekend from central Scottish towns.
All in all a very tidy and pleasant site, helpful owners, well maintained toilets, laundry & wash-up with plenty of places to walk or cycle.

Stopped off at this site for an overnight at the start of the month, warden very friendly. Told us to pitch up wherever we wanted site was very nice and clean. Toilet blocks could do with being looked at as the smell in the ladies was very pungent, only one shower was working and the water stopped every 10 seconds, no good for showering. Other downfalls were the noise from the trains. Don't think we will stop off at this site again.

Stayed here overnight on stop over on the way to west coast of Scotland. The helpful warden took a telephone booking, the directions to the site were exact so we found it easily and we received a friendly welcome on arrival. We chose our pitch which was level and hardstanding, the site contained a few well positioned statics and a few seasonals. The mobile reception was very good. There is a shop in the village about half a mile away. The view from the site was lovely in all directions. We had a nice afternoon/evening walk onto the near by moor via the quiet lane and surrounding woodland.
The toilet & shower block was clean & well maintained. This would be a great site for a longer stay to visit local attractions.

Very quiet site just off the M74, easy to find. The hardstanding pitches were a good size. The toilet block was very clean but quite old and in need of refurbishment. There were only 2 ladies showers working at the height of the summer season although it usually wasn't a problem. Laundry facilities were good. There was no playground etc for children and no dog walking area either. There is a walk along the river just a few minutes walk away but you have to climb a stile & the bank to access it, so not appropriate in the dark. The village is just a few minutes walk away but there is very little there, a bank & corner shop selling the basics. To access anything else you need a car.
