This is a small family run site just off the M74 near Abington Services. Scenic views from all the pitches which are focused round the toilet block. All pitches are of a generous size and have electric hook up. This is a 16amp supply. The owners are very friendly and helpful and are on duty all day.
The toilet block was exceptionally clean as were the shower facilities and kitchen. It was noted that cleaning of these facilities resulted in the block being closed between 12noon and 1.30pm. The disabled toilet is available whilst the toilet block is closed for cleaning therefore there were no problems as reported by a previous reviewer.
There are no shop facilities on site but there is a Post Office/Shop in the village which is approximately quarter of mile from site. Calor gas can be purchased on site.
We experienced no problems whatsoever during our stay and hopefully will return again soon. The location of the site is such that Lanark, Glasgow, Edinburgh are all within easy reach and we found some pleasant walks in the Tinto area which is about 20 mins drive. Site is ideal for overnight stop en route to the Highlands or to England.
The main Glasgow to London West Coast railway line is adjacent to the site but we soon became accustomed to the noise of the trains to such an extent that we just didn't notice them.
At the time for our visit only analogue tv was available but the site had aerial facilities at each pitch giving excellent reception of a large range of tv channels. It is understood that digital switchover for the site is during the month of June.

Have used this site several times as a stop on the way down to the South of England. Pitches are large and hard-standing. Toilets always very clean. Two showers and a large disabled washroom in the ladies.
There is a hotel in Abington which does reasonable food. The Mill Inn in nearby Coulter does beautiful food, but can get busy at weekends - best to book.
The site is also about 1 mile from Abington Services. It is very close to a busy railway line, but it doesn't appear to be too intrusive. It's also quite close to the Motorway, but that's why we use it, and you don't really hear much noise.

Just returned from 2 nights on this site. It was a lovely quiet site with a mix of statics, seasonal, tourers and campers. Toilet facilities were well kept and always clean although the whole building - male and female toilets, showers and kitchen area closes from 11am-12.30pm which was a bit of a pain having 2 kids with us. Site is right next to the West coast rail line which was heard but by no means really intrusive.
Kids loved it as they made friends and played at the small park and paddled about in the little burn. Paragliders spotted both days too.
Overall we had a great time but if you are looking for a site with stuff on site this may not be your kinda place but we would be happy to return!

Ideal site located in picturesque valley and all pitches have fantastic views. Well maintained site, excellent and clean toilet block and information room. Within walking distance to local shop and hotel. Dogs welcome and whilst there is a play area this is not really a child friendly site.
Owners friendly and helpful. Being close to the railway some noise is experienced but soon became accustomed to this.
Site is close to the M74 and makes an ideal stop over to and from the highlands. This site makes for a relaxing holiday whether staying one night or longer.
If you have not been to this area before New Lanark, Biggar, Moffat and the Clyde Valley Garden centres - (lovely meal in Gouldings Coffee shop and plant centre) are all within easy reach.

Used as an overnighter to/from the Scottish Highlands, as it is so convenient for the m74. The owners were very friendly, and on our return saved us a pitch next to the kids area (climbing frame + burn). The facilities were plentiful and spotless. The pitches were hard standing and generous in size. The site is next to the railway and river Clyde. The railway was busy on Saturday until 10pm, but Sunday was very quiet. Abington has a Hotel/pub and small premier supermarket - and the motorway services WHSmith etc are 2 mins drive. Every pitch at Mount View has picturesque views. The site is situated on a very quiet single track road that runs alongside the river and railway for approx 6 or 7 miles. I spent a sever hours cycling with the kids, then blasting on my own. The scenery was fantastic.
I highly recommend this site.

Great site, pitches nicely laid out and all hardstanding for the vans, good hookup as well. Location wise couldn't be better 5 minutes from the M74 and views of the hills to die for. Toilets immaculate. The railway was a bit noisy but when you are pitched a few yards from it that can only be expected and didnt bother me.
Site owners very friendly. Will certainly go back

This was our first stop on our trip to Ullapool. Lady on reception was very friendly and helped us choose a pitch near to amenities. We could have done with hook up but it was early evening and they were all taken. Nice clean toilets and showers and lovely part of the world if you like like walking. As our dog Geri does ;). Would recommend as a stop over for anyone travelling but as for long stays not too sure.

Only spent 2 nights here but enjoyed our stay. Toilets are spotless. Site is a short walk from Abington village and so was handy for us stock up on supplies. The railway line is quite noisy but you get used to it after a while. Lovely wee site. Would definitely recommend.

When we arrived, we were met by the owner, a very friendly lady and helped us choose a pitch which was right next to the facilities which was great. Dogs are allowed which is a must for us as we have 2, site is beautiful and the surrounding views are lovely. The facilities are good, plenty of toilets for the size of the site so no Q's though both men and women's did need a bit of brush and mop when we were there but the weather was pretty bad with some mud about so maybe needed a bit more cleaning than normally required. Within the information bit there is a big box of books that you can borrow at no charge in case you forgot to bring reading material with you, like I did. Yes, the site is next to the railway and you can hear the trains go by but I didn't find it particularly intrusive but my husband did, if you don't mind it then it's worth a visit.
Nearby, you can go to a real lead mine, museum and go panning for gold, we did and got some flecks for souvenirs and it only cost £2 pp for the gold panning.
Our price was £16 per night with a large family tent, 2 adults, 1 child, 2 dogs and an electric hookup.
Overall, yes we would use this site again but not for more than a 1 or 2 day camping trip. It's an ideal site for a stopover.

On arrival you will find a friendly greeting on this family run site.
The pitches were level and well spaced out.
The toilets and showers were spotlessly clean as were the kitchen and laundry areas.
The site is set out in such a way that no matter where you pitch your not far from the facilities block.
There is a small shop 5 minutes walk into the village which stocks the basics.
The only criticism I could make is the noise and frequency of the trains that run along one side of the site.
Would definitely use this site again but I'll take along some earplugs next time!
