Used this site as a stopover from Swansea to Outer Hebrides, and it was everything we wanted. Facilities were very good and after travelling 350 miles cooking was not an option and the hotel in the village was more than adequate and only a 10 minute walk. The site staff were very helpful and it was park where you like avoiding the rabbits where possible. Any downside maybe one, have a good drink before going to bed so as to drown out the sound of the night freight train services. Will use this site again definitely.

A nice basic site, with gravel pitches, well separated, and plenty of water points dotted about. Plenty of grass and trees, and lots of bunnies everywhere! Very friendly, helpful warden. The toilet block was not the best I've ever seen, with two of eight toilets out of use, and one of the two ladies' showers. The shower itself, the lights and the hairdryer all operated on a short timer - a bit irritating. Plenty of hot water, however.

Stayed here as a stopover on the way to loch lomand and what a lovely little site it is. £18 per night, and the management were very helpful and friendly. Toilets and showers were very clean. The grounds were kept very tidy. Bit of a noise from a train line, but you soon get used to it. Nothing much in the village, hotel, spar shop, but the river walk was lovely. This site is two mins off the main road so is ideal for a stopping off point. Some hills surrounding the place so I could imagine some good walks. Pleased we stopped here

I booked this site in order to visit the Leading Mining Museum. The site was easy to find, not far off the motorway. The lady on reception was very nice and advised me that the pitches beside the railway line could be noisy. It was very wet and windy when I arrived and decided to pitch in the nearest space which was beside the railway line, boy was she right. To be honest the next night wasn't as noisy.
The toilets/showers were clean and tidy and all you need for a few nights. There is a shop on site but it isn't too far to the village shop.
An ideal site for a stop over, for us there wasn't much else about to warrant a return visit.

Excellent site, very well run by the owner who prides herself in having spotlessly clean toilets and showers. The whole site is immaculate and very well run, it is next to a busy railway but not over powering with notice etc. There is great walks along the Clyde if you have dogs. There is not a lot for children to do with a small play park not big enough to kick a ball. The pitches are huge with ample space and very well priced. Make sure you stock up on food as there is only a very small shop close by. Will be returning in the near future.

Used this site as do many others as a stop over, because of its proximity to the motorway (2 mins. Max). The site was easy to find with a narrow bridge over the railway, wide enough but you need all the road.
The staff I met were extremely friendly and helpful, the site was well kept and spotlessly clean.
I had read the previous reviews and had some trepidation about the railway, as I had 2 dogs with me, the noise from the constant rail traffic was a factor but we soon manage to tune out and had a nice stay.
For other dog lovers, the fencing is excellent and there is no easy access through the fencing, no matter how stringent we are as owners the dogs can always slip away for a moment.
Nice walk for the dogs up above the site with the woods via a quiet country lane.
We really enjoyed the stay and would definitely stay again

We stayed at this great wee site just off the M74 (couple of minutes) and close to Abington Services. We had only intended to stay for 1 night on our way South in our recently purchased Campervan, the intention was to try everything out on the van before venturing too far.
We arrived mid afternoon and got a very friendly welcome from the lady in reception, she was very pleasant and helpful and explained the layout of the site etc. We were told to pick a site to suit our needs, and we settled on one facing south hoping for good weather.
The site was hard standing which was good and as well as a 16amp Electric hookup it also had a T. V. Hook up point (this was great as the Satellite system on the van did not work and the wife wanted to see Eastenders).
The Toilet/Showers/ Toilet emptying point/Laundry block is situated in the middle of the well laid out park and the showers and toilets were spotless and free with plenty of hot water for dish washing. We did not try the Laundry room. Although they are very close to a main railway line, the noise was not intrusive.
As we had the dog with us we walked into the Village of Abington ( about 15minutes walk) which has a small Post Office/Shop and a Hotel. We decided to stay the next night as we found it very quiet and relaxing and it gave us the time to find out how everything worked on our van ( its a German model LHD and all the instructions were in German and my Deutsche sprachen is nicht gut).
On leaving the site I realised that there was not a set place for emptying the waste tank, but the lady at reception had said that as long as it was only waste water to park next to any of the waste water disposal points and use my waste water hose, so no problem. The park is will signposted on leaving the motorway and is found by crossing a bridge over the River Clyde and access is good as we saw some larger caravan & 4x4's and also a large Motorhome during our stay. There are a few Static Caravans and also some static tourers on the the park and I think that these regulars also like the peace and quiet. We met some of the people also using the park and most were on their way north or south, but all were pleased with the services on offer and would use again.
We will go to this site again and perhaps stay a few more days to explore the area.

We are just back from a weekend at the Mount View Caravan Park.
This is a great site. We were met by charming lady at reception when we arrived who was very helpful. We were allowed to just go and choose our own pitch which was great.
The pitches are hardstanding and are of a very good size. The surrounding scenery is magnificent and was very tranquil. The only negative was the West Coast Mainline that runs alongside the site. But after been there a few hours you hardly notice it.
The toilet block and the showers were magnificent. They were very clean and well kept.
We visited Leadhills whilst we were there which has a great lead mine, a museum and visitors centre. There was also some nice walks round about which we took advantage off. It's a quiet, peaceful and tranquil area and even our kid's enjoyed it.
We will definitely visit this site again. It must be lovely in the summer time.
We would recommend this site to anyone.

2 adults plus 2 dogs:
Plus points: ideal as an accessible stop off point for travelling to/from the highlands etc. We had a hard standing pitch, which was spacious in its size. The toilets were numerous and clean, as were all the facilities, but a little dated.
Negatives: Train noise can be an issue/nuisance especially when you're trying to sleep.
There are no on site dog exercising facilities (although plenty countryside walks off site).
No on site shop, although the shop in abington is only a 20 minute round walk and stocks enough choice.
Would we use this site again??. Probably not, the site itself is ok, but there just wasn't enough to do, immediately around this site for us.

We have twice stayed in this Family owned site. The boss's Ian and Vivienne are just so helpful and it's a pleasure to go there. Ask them about what's to see in the local area, nothing is to much trouble for them. They also gave us tips on local eateries all of which turned out to be great and value for money. We don't have a caravan so on both occasions we have been in one of the sites modern static caravans that are available to rent at realistic prices.
The whole site is immaculate. As dog owners we loved the miles and miles of local walks. The site is large and totally free from dog mess, despite dogs being welcome on the site all the other residents seemed very responsible. Our Dalmatians Raffles & Lola enjoyed playing with Holly, the friendly resident Retriever.
Toilet blocks are perfect and that's coming from a really really fussy pair.
The river Clyde is lass than 4 minutes walk away and offers any budding anglers hours of fun. I certainly enjoyed myself.
I'm looking forward to our next visit.
