Perfectly located for exploring the wonderful Brecon Beacons National Park. Supplies can be bought locally from Crickhowell or slightly further afield in places such as Brecon or Brynmawr if you're wanting the bigger stores such as Morrisons, Aldi, Asda and Tesco etc.
The campsite itself is well looked after. We camped in the upper tent field and pretty much had the field to ourselves for the entire week we were there. The ground in this field is predominantly sloping, but we had everything we needed with us to level up tables etc. The lower of the two tent fields is much more level, however it has a busy road running along one side of it, so would be quite a noisy place to pitch. Having said that, this wouldn't be an issue if you were spending your days exploring as in the evening the traffic noise died right down to the extent that you could almost forget the road was there.
This is the first campsite we've stayed at that has WiFi that actually works. Streaming isn't allowed, for obvious reasons, but the service was fine for browsing the internet, checking the weather, sending emails and researching locations to visit.
The facilities are more than adequate and my partner and I didn't have to wait once to use either the showers or the toilets even when the weekend campers arrived. Handwash and toilet paper was always plentiful. There's a laundry room containing a washer and a dryer, the cycles costing £4 and £1 respectively. This will be unlocked for you on request. There is also a little shop which is open for a couple of hours a day, one hour in the morning and one in the late afternoon. You can hand your ice blocks in here to be frozen, not for free as stated on their website, but at a charge of 20p per block.
Finally I would like to say thank you to the lovely wardens who were very friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay here again.

We didn't arrive until late on the Friday evening, but the wardens Eddie and Julie were very helpful. We were very pleased when they placed us next to the shop, shower and toilet facilities.
The site itself would be described as a traditional camping/caravanning site with level terraces for caravans and trailers and gently sloping areas which had a mixture of tents and trailers, there is the option for electric hook-up and these points also have aerial ports (analogue signal only). The mobile phone signal is either weak or none existent (this is not the campsites fault just location) the wifi is hit and miss but the wardens advised that the village has been experiencing problems with the BT line (so once again not the fault of the campsite). The wardens work extremely hard to keep the site facilities clean and running well for its visitors.
The campsite itself is situated in a valley a five minute walk from the village of Cwmdu with the peak of Pen Allt-Mawr to the rear of the campsite and Myndd Llangorse in front both are easily accessible from the campsite Eddie will gladly tell you the routes to both should you wish to go for a walk.
The village has a Church, a pub called the Farmers Arms which cooks good food and serves good beer as well. There is a cafe called Myndd Ddu which serves hearty breakfasts and award winning cakes.
If you fancy something a little spicier then you can go to the Farmers Arms for their Thai curry or travel up the road to Crickhowell and get an Indian curry from Indigo Red, you can either eat in or take away.
There is plenty to see and do in the surrounding areas such as Llangorse Lake where you can go boating or fishing or see the ruins of Llantony priory just outside of Abergavenny.
We liked this campsite for its simplicity, friendliness and value for money, the sky when there are no clouds at night are amazing. We would definitely use this campsite again and would highly recommend it as an ideal base to explore the Brecon Beacons and Black Mountains.

We stayed here over a the May bank holiday. This is a quiet and friendly campsite with beautiful scenery and well located for exploring the Brecons and beyond. This site is a mixture of terraced and sloping pitches and we were lucky enough to have a terraced pitch which was nice and level due to a cancellation - as we were driving to our allocated pitch the owner came and found us to say there had been a cancellation and that we could have the level pitch. We thought this was great having been on many a site where there are empty pitches and still having to stick with the original allocation. The toilets on this site are dated and there aren't many showers but they were free, clean and the shower was lovely and hot with a hair dryer if you needed it. We never had to wait or queue. There isn't a playground or bar/club house here but there is a small shop on site, and the owners were very helpful and knowledgeable about where to go in the local area. There is no phone signal here (Vodafone) but the site has wifi which although slow worked! There was also no rush about packing up which was great and allowed us to do this at our own pace rather than rushing to be out at a certain time. There is a pub down the road from the site and a cafe though we didn't try either of these. A nice stay in a lovely location with plenty of things to do locally.

This is an out of the way quiet campsite which was perfect for us as we wanted to walk with our two dogs. Showers and toilets need updating but were clean. Helpful owners, would stay here again. Mobile phone signal not available when on site but there is a very old and dirty payphone if you need it. Walks abundant up to the Breacons or the Blackhills. There is a local pub but we did not use so cannot comment on this.

Lovely quiet site that doesn't have a long list of rules that some campsites do. Just pull up, find a pitch you like and book into reception at some point in the evening. There is a communal fridge you can use and reception will freeze your ice packs for free; they even have local OS maps for you to borrow. There is plenty of choice for tents if you want full sun, part sun or full shade. Plenty of toilets and I never had to wait to use the shower, there was always hot water and they were clean. Crickhowell is the nearest town for anything you need. I was on my own with the dog and ate at The Bear where dogs are welcomed with a free bowl of chicken bits from the kitchen. Overall a relaxing site and one I will be returning to soon.

We spent a week and a half travelling around Wales, staying in a number of campsites, and as far as value for money goes, this was the worst!
Overall the campsite is lovely, but we paid £17 for a night, which was more than double the price of the campsites we stayed at prior to this.
The toilets and showers were clean, but are in much need of renovation. The worst thing was the showers, which honestly sounded like our heads were strapped to hoovers - you couldn't even hear yourself speak over the noise
There is a little shop on-site
There is a coin operated launderette, and a separate place for washing up (which has a rather annoying push down tap)
The position of the campsite is in a okay location for exploring the black mountains, but the campsite itself didn't come with any particularly nice views. In the lower field, we felt there was rather a lot of road noise
We shall say however, that the lawn was in very good condition and the ground was ideal for pushing in pegs, and the people working on the campsite were rather friendly
Overall, had the price been cheaper, it wouldn't have been too bad of a campsite, but it was overpriced and the price came with no benefits

This site is set out well and we were able to pitch on hard standing which was helpful because of the wet weather. The wardens were very friendly and helpful and in no rush to get us off site on our last day. The location is quiet with beautiful views and a short drive to Crickhowell where the Beauford Arms gave us a very warm welcome. Llangorse lake was a short drive away and we had a lovely walk along the river in Builth Wells. The wardens are knowledgeable about the area and are more than willing to suggest routes to beauty spots. Plenty of walks our dog enjoyed it as much as we did. Would recommend this site if you're looking for a relaxed and friendly site.

We stopped here over the August bank holiday weekend and found the site to be excellent for me my partner and our 1 year old daughter, whilst it was very busy until the Monday the site almost fully emptied and it was very peaceful after, although despite how busy it was no one was too loud and the site didn't feel over crowded like some you can get. The scenery around is stunning and there are plenty of walks nearby as well as the town of Abergavenny about a 15 min drive, whilst Cardiff is pretty close too.
The only thing we found with the site was the facilities, whilst cleaned regularly they could do with a good deep clean to get rid of the small residents. I would describe the facilities as basic, not modern although the showers were pretty good apart from one in the gents that needed a new shower head to direct the water correctly (but a minor point).
The pot washing sinks had very low water pressure so it took forever to fill your bowl, the hot water didn't seem to last very long and one time the water actually ran out, although with how busy the site was had a lot to do with the amount of hot water and water generally.
We will definitely be coming back here in the future.

A lovely site for camping, electric hookup if required and some picnic tables. Easy access to the water and washing up facilities however only one shower each for women and men which was not so great. The floor in the shower room was constantly wet and cramped making dressing difficult. Apart from that it is well run, but would avoid going august bank holiday as it is really busy. There are two fields for tents, the lower is close to a busy main road used by motor bikes at weekends and heavy traffic during the week. The lower field is some considerable walk from the toilet facilities. It takes 10 mins to walk to the local pub which offer good service and meals, there is a cafe near to the pub also offering a welcome breakfast or lunch.

Visited campsite on Bank Holiday Weekend. Owners were very welcoming & helpful. Toilets/Showers cleaned regularly. Shop on site was handy, including tourist information. Was given a very spacious pitch, slightly sloping, but wasn't a real problem. Site was surrounded with superb scenery. We walked the Beacon's Trail into Crickhowell on the Sunday. The Farmers Arms pub is within walking distance from the site. Overall, a really enjoyable stay & would certainly recommend.
