The owners here are extremely welcoming and helpful, as are the permanent residents.
This is only a small site in comparison to others I have stayed at and this is reflected in the number of facitlities. There is a small site shop for the essentials, though other shops are only a short drive away. Showers, toilets and wash up sinks are limited in number but they are cleaned and tidied regularly. This was not really a problem for us (a couple) even during August.
There is a communal fridge if needed and the owners re-freeze ice packs in the shop which was open on a regular basis so getting to them was never a problem.
The village pub is no more than 10mins walk away, but while the food is good the price was not - the owners cashing in on the visitors I guess.
Only real negative point is the nearby main road at the lower part of the site where tents are pitched which gets noisy at busy periods.
A great base for any thinking of exploring the Black Mountains, we will definitely be going back.

August 2004 Cwmdu Caravan And Camping Site, Powys. This is a lovely little site. Quiet and neat. Basic facilities and thankfully, no entertainment!
We stumbled upon this after a previous nights nightmare, huge campsite at a nearby lake (it was late, we were desperate!)
If you like a calm and quiet site, I'd recommend it.

August 2004 Friendly cheap site at £3.50 pppn. Facilities somewhat dated but very clean throughout. Showers 20p, with coin box outside shower, so best to put 40p in to make sure! When I was there the hot water in the washup was not working, so had to carry a bowl from the toilet block next door (not much of a problem).
Most of field is on slight slope, but some level ground at bottom of main field (I phoned ahead and they reserved me a space).
Shop open for an hour in the morning and evening.
Cafe in village does a good breakfast. Local pub food is expensive but is good restaurant quality, so suggest Castle Inn a few miles north for normal pub food.
