This was our first trip with our new (to us) caravan. We picked great weather which was a good start. The wardens were helpful in making sure everyone had the best pitch they could but making sure that safe distances were maintained. The toilet block was quite a distance away - we were at the far end of the site on the grass pitches - but the walk was great with views across the river. The site was neat and tidy - although the bins were very full and a bit smelly.
The site is just off the Wirral Way which is great for walking, cycling and horseriding. You can walk down into Heswall and Hoylake - where there is a lovely long beach that our dogs really enjoyed. We visited the Lady Lever art gallery in Port Sunlight. We were going to go to Ness Botanic Gardens - but it was too hot to leave the dogs in the car -so we will have to come back again!

Just returned from a few nights at this site. At first I wasn't impressed cant put my finger on why. Anyway I was wrong the site is lovely. The facilities are up to caravan club standard and the position of the site is fabulous right onto the beach with spectacular views over the estuary. We didn't have the view from our van but non the less it was there to be admired every time we came out of the van.
The wirral way is just outside the main entrance and you can walk as far as you like either way. We went to West Kirkby which took about an hour, easy walk with a level path all the way and with beautiful views so it didn't seem that far. We also went to parkgate I had been told the fish & chips and ice cream there were good but on this occasion we didn't try.
The nearest pub is 5 mins drive from the site you get 10% discount if your on the site just have to show your fob when paying bill. Food ok, wine very nice and real ales to. There are shops just a short drive away in West Kirkby & Heswall for all your requirements. We also went to Majestic which is on the way to West Kirby to stock up on wine! You can order newspapers for the next day from reception and they also have bits and bobs but not much so stock up before you go.
We had a lovely time at this site and will be booking again as soon as possible.
Highly recommended

We have just returned after staying for two nights and thoroughly enjoyed it. It is a flat site which is great for those of us who have difficulty walking. The areas around caravans are kept tidy and clean. The wardens were helpful and friendly. The site showers are extremely clean and fresh. The site has wonderful views over to Wales across the estuary. It is handy for us as my son lives in Prenton, which is about 20 mins drive from the site and therefore ideal for visits. Handy for motorway and the Mersey tunnel for access to Liverpool. We will definitely be staying there again

Just been for a sat night at this site, this is the first time I have been allocated a spot rather than allowed to find one and report back to reception with the number. We were crammed into a corner near to the road. Due to the trees we had trouble getting tv reception. The dome satellite couldn't lock onto a signal, and the status 560 ariel had trouble eventually getting a few channels. We had a walk around the site and there were a few hardstandings empty, even though I was told the site was full. This is one site I won't be revisiting. Cost for two adults in motorhome £21.50 per night not value for money.

We visited for 3 nights over the half term weekend and were impressed.
Totally agree with latest reviewers, no grass pitches in use ( according to the warden all been available to use for only one week this season).
Plenty of puddles and standing water on H/S pitches, some noise from cars in the lane. Didnt see any squabbling over pitches but on arrival it was one out, one in so we took one near the play area as we prefer to watch the kids not the tide!
Park and ride at Hoylake is 10mins in car. £15 for day rover ticket for train, bus and ferry for 2A & 2K.
Chip van good value, showers and facilities good, CDP close to play area so no problem.
Lovely walk up the beach to West Kirby and walk back along country trail.
Only criticisms are lack of drainage and poor lighting along roadways (take a torch to avoid the puddles!)
Already planning to go back in 2013.

Not the first time that we've been to this club site and certainly won’t be the last. The first time we went I was a bit sceptical when driving down the lane through all the static sites and some reviews have commented on this but in all honesty, the location makes up for it. People have also commented about the noise from cars driving up and down the lane at night but must admit that we've never had a problem. People have also commented about the squabbles over the limited number of pitches with a direct view over the estuary but again, I must admit that I've never seen any.
Anyway, what to expect. This is your typical CC site with all the facilities that you come to expect on a club site – friendly wardens, well maintained (although limited) showers & toilets, dish wash, laundry facilities, chemical waste point, motor home waste dump, even a play area for the kids (the roads around the site could do with a bit of an overhaul though as plenty of puddles to drive / walk through during wet weather).
Two nights a week, a mobile fish ‘n’ chip calls where everything is cooked to order (definitely beats cooking yourself). The site is a mixture of grass and hard standing pitches although when we were there, the grass pitches were closed due to the recent heavy rain. The warden even went so far as to say that the grass pitches had been out of use for most of the season.
As I've already said, there are a handful of pitches with a view directly overlooking the estuary but this doesn't detract the rest of the site as the location really makes this site for me. Located adjacent to the old West Kirby to Hooton railway line, which now forms part of the Wirral Country Park. The Visitors Centre (with its small café) is only a matter of minutes’ walk away where you can get information about walking and cycling further afield.
A good walk for the more energetic is from West Kirby out to Hilbre Island (make sure that you check the times of the tides (available at the Visitor’s Centre)) where if you’re lucky, you may seal a seal or two! Dog walkers (like me) are spoilt at this site and that’s probably one of the reason’s we keep coming back. Being located overlooking the estuary, within in minutes of leaving the main entrance, you can be on the beach (unrestricted) where your dog can run for miles.
See you next year Wirral.

A very nicely positioned site for the Wirral, Liverpool, Chester and surrounding areas. A car is a must if you wish to visit these attractions.
The site is tired and needs a good makeover. One CDP, poor roads/paths all require improvement. Also the pitches are quite small. Irresponsible dog owners marred our visit somewhat. Wardens helpful. The extortionate charges for WiFi in this day and age is not on. Chip van twice a week which is OK. Excellent for walking and cycling.
Come on Caravan Club use some of your large reserves to improve this site!

Lovely area with plenty of places to visit. Turn left out of the site and in 5 mins on foot you are at a beach, turn right and you will find signposts for the Wirral way.
All over the peninsular there are plenty of spots of natural beauty and miles of well marked walks and cycle tracks.
The are also lots of sandy beaches with varying degrees of facilities, ranging from nothing to the full hit of fun fairs and candy floss to suit all tastes.
Ths site itself is acceptable, clean and tidy. The play area is in the middle of a circle of hard standing pitches and the access road for them so excellent for parents who wish to have direct supervision of little ones but us less child orientated caravanners would probably prefer the quiet cul de sac at the very end of the site.
Some pitches are a bit far from the facilities, with only one elsan point which is at one end of a long site. Second fresh and grey water plus rubbish facilities are provided further along the site but there is only one shower block with only a few cubicles for the whole site.
Overall a nice spot and a nice site, if you get the right pitch for you.

This is a very well located site and the Country Park is great for walking, with or without a dog. On the downside the facilities are not up to modern Caravan Club standards. The site roads are not in particularly good condition, the site has several areas prone to flooding (while we were there the service point flooded under 6 inches of water spreading waste water over the road).
The site has almost 100 pitches but only one quite small and dated toilet block. Worst of all there is only one toilet emptying point meaning many pitches are a long walk away. We have stayed on dozens of CC sites, including several that are very remote, but have never come across a site with only one CDP. Given that this site is apparently full most of the time, and the charges plus membership fees the Club gets, there is no excuse for facilities like this.
Much is made of the estuary views, but there are only about 6 pitches that have this view and for some reason people scrabble (embarrassingly at times)for these. Presumably they have never seen a stretch of water before. The approach to the site has several unmarked road humps which you will need to be careful of as some of them are quite severe. Also there seems to be something odd going on with some pitches being coned off, but then later, caravans appearing on them. The rules of the Club are that pitches cannot be reserved so I'm not sure what's going on here. For once I think that for the money, this is a Club site that can be beaten for value by several private sites. We won't be returning.

Lovely site in a great setting and location. Very helpful wardens.
Close to the Wirral Way which is a pleasant and level cycle track. Walking on the beach or cliff tops is lovely. West Kirby is also worth a visit.
The only negative we can find is the scramble for the pitches with the best views. Even though guests are told to arrive after 12, people tend to queue long before this time and cause havoc on the approach road.
All in all, does it really matter if you can see a bit of sea or not?
On the only occasion we have been lucky enough to get a pitch with a view, we were harried on the day of leaving by a man who found out we were leaving and he wanted to move pitches. This has not put us off going there again and can't wait to revisit this lovely site.
