Fantastic site, massive pitches, friendly wardens, great views over the Dee estury

If you like walking / rambling this is for you, I walked the dog for miles through the country park which runs along the side of the site. Showers spotless.

Mobile chippy turns up on Saturday evening so fish & chips is a must, you also get a free raffle ticket on arrival from the warden, if you win you get 2 free cod & chips, very tasty.

Booked again for October, well worth a visit.

Just spent a great weekend here. The first time we have visited a Caravan Club site having only recently joined the club.

Must say we were very impressed with the layout and the facilities.

On arrival we were asked to find a pitch and then let them know which one we were on - we were then given the keys to the showers etc. We were not lucky enough to get one of the pitches with sea views (after talking to regulars, apparently the trick is to plan your arrival for about 11:30 - 12:00 when previous campers have just left) but nevertheless we were very happy with our pitch. Only hardstandings were in use so the site was approximately half full to capacity. Large pitches with plenty of room for awnings etc.

Fantastic location with the beach only a short walk away with the walking paths and cycle trail just opposite the site entrance. The dog had a brilliant time making friends on the beach and came home exhausted! As it is on an estuary the beach is very natural, with lots of wildlife. When the tide is out it can be muddy in places.

The only downside is that the sandy parts of the beach did have lots of discarded rubbish (mainly plastic bottles, cans and even disposable barbecues). Having said this, there did not appear to be many litter bins on the beach!

Shower facilities were excellent - not the usual push-button type, with lots of hot water. Never had to queue but as mentioned the site was only half full so cannot comment if sufficient showers to cope when site full.

Plenty of bins for rubbish but only seemed to recycle glass. Motor home service point was very accessible.

Wardens very friendly and helpful. Did have fish and chips from visiting van on the Saturday and can recommend. Fish very large so bear in mind when ordering.

Newspapers can be ordered the day before from reception and they also carry a small range of essentials (bread, milk etc)

We did ask if it was possible to stay later than midday on the Sunday but were told that the site was fully booked. It appears to be a very popular site - in fact, since coming home we have re-booked another weekend but not until August as they are fully booked until then!

Local site - ideal for short break away and for trips into Liverpool - can catch train from local station that has a free car park. Very clean and friendly. Level pitches but did need to use our extra long electric cable to get hookup. Nice walks from site and views. Small shop not far away for basic goods.

Good food at pub at end of road - very child friendly.

This was the first caravan club site we have visited and were really pleased with it. Upon arrival we were given a map and leaflet, told to choose a site then let them know the number we had chosen, we were then given keys to the shower block and magnetic fob for the entrance barrier.

Great site, set out really well with nothing too far away, toilet and shower block very good and clean, free hot showers. Play area for the kids.

Laundry and dishwashing facilities available although we didn't use them.

Ample sized pitches, only hard standings open due to the grass being wet, so only 49 of around 90 pitches in use, this suited us as we don't like to be too crowded.

Wardens very helpful, excellent information point. Plenty of bins emptied frequently.

Chip van on site Weds / Sats with entry into draw for 2 fish suppers, unfortunately we didn't win but enjoyed the chips all the same.

Bread, milk, eggs, papers, Gas all available from the reception.

Easy walking distance of the beach via the sailing club ramp or steps by the entrance to the static caravan site next door.

Lots of walkways in the Wirral park, great cafe within walking distance. Church Farm park for the kids close by with organic shop, although this looked suited to very young children so we didn't visit.

Park and Ride by train from Hoylake to Liverpool - if you get off at Hamilton Square you are able to take the last part of the journey by ferry.

Would love to visit again!

Usual caravan club standard, excellent site units well spaced, we were lucky to get one of the 'prime view' pitches, no 15. Superb view, although there are lot of the other pitches with very pleasant views. Facilities clean, warm and with the added bonus of privacy cubicles. Showers were big enough, water hot and they were free.
Lots of walks around the area, we have a dog and he loved the walk down the old railway area, now used by cyclists, I liked the idea that there is also a separate path for non-cyclists, walk to the beach down the lane, left out of site entrance. Bit steep down to the beach but nevertheless pleasant walk.
Would we go again, yes if it were nearer home, but this stay was part of our annual 'tour' so not local to us. Wardens seemed to be in abundance, but left you well alone, they all seemed very busy. Pick your own pitch when you arrive and then go back and tell them where you are, you then get a set of keys for both toilets and a security gate fob. Only complaint. Not a lot of water taps.

We booked this site on its opening weekend and was surprised to see it already full up, it is very convenient if you like cycling as the Wirral way runs adjacent, the site itself is in a very good condition with all the facilities spotlessly clean and with friendly and helpful wardens I think this site is a must visit, if you are lucky enough as we were to be pitched at the bottom end of the site the sunsets over the Dee estuary towards N Wales is a sight to behold, It was our first visit, and we regretted the fact that we only booked a long weekend rather than a week or two,but this site will go to the top of the favourite list and we look forward to returning asap.

Visited this site during a lovely sunny spell in September 2008 (yes we did get one during 2008!). Some of the pitches were unavailable due to the wet ground conditions but there is a mixture of grass and hardstanding pitches available. Some of them have lovely views across the Dee estuary looking into North Wales.

The facilities are what you would expect from a CC site, very clean and of a very good standard with plenty of hook ups available.

The site is in an area that is very popular with walkers and visitors and close to West Kirby with its large expanse of snad for the kids and dog to run around on.

This is a site I would definitely recommend.

Spent last weekend at this site, only half an hour from where we live but we could have been in another world, lovely scenery and a nice brisk walk along the beach!
Toilets /showers very clean. Wardens very pleasant and friendly. Morrisons / Tesco only a few miles away to stock up on supplies. Pub and cafe within walking distance. Will definitely be going back here for a 'chill' weekend.

We have just returned from our 1st visit to this site and I can say with certainty that it won’t be our last.

2 of my friends use this site quite often and they recommended it to us.

As we’ve not been before the lady who booked us in explained the process. I’d booked through the Caravan Club website and with my printed confirmation she quickly processed my details and took the payment. She gave me a map of the site, said we should drive round, find a free pitch that we liked, set up camp and come back later.

Each pitch has a number and with each number comes a key for the toilets and shower block, 2 keys 1 each for male and female blocks. Also on the key is an electric fob for the security barrier.

The site is high above the estuary and as it was a windy day we pitched away from the direct view of the water and near a wooded area on grass rather than hard standing. Although there was a road on the other side of the trees the noise from it didn’t bother us.

As we set up the awning the children went to play. The play area is surrounded by pitches but we chose not to camp directly next to the play area.

The site is quite big but sectioned off by trees which make it appear smaller and more secluded.

There are a number of water taps for fresh and waste water and plenty of bins, though my only complaint was no recycling bins. That said there is a recycling area at the local Tesco not far from the site or you could take your recycling home with you!?

The toilets were so clean. There are toilets on one side, showers on the other with 2 sinks and hand dryers and 4 cubicles with sinks, mirrors and hairdryers which are free. The dish washing area has 3 large sinks and plenty of very hot water. As it was the summer hols the laundry room was busy most of the time but I expected that with the number of children at the site.

The information room was one of the best I’ve seen at a site. It has so much in there, even adverts from people selling caravans/equipment to local cafes and bus time tables. Free local papers too which were a great idea. There is a comment book too which was filled with only positive comments and I haven’t been too many sites which boast that.

I saw a few people booking extra nights so they must have been impressed with the site to want to stay on.

There is a static site before this and they have a club house which is open Friday and Saturday nights and non members are welcome at a price of 50p or £1.50 if an act is on. Children are welcome and they get drinks and crisps free! Good value on drinks too. The sailing club is open Wednesday nights and non members are also welcome there.

There is a wonderful walk along the Wirral Way along a disused railway line which takes you into Heswall village and other places of interest, great for cycling too. At the top of the lane you will find Whites Farm shop and CJ’s café and farm shop and the Wirral country park visitors centre with a bird hide and great views of the beach. To get to the beach you go down steps through the woods; the children thought this was great fun.

Church Farm is ideal for organic food and ice cream or just a nice hot drink and a pastry. You can also spend the day at the farm - £10.00 for a family.

There are lots of public footpaths through the wonderful countryside and you get to see plenty of horses and cows up close! There is a stable for race horses on the lane that leads to the site and it’s was nice to hear the sound of hooves on the road.

Parkgate is the place to go at the end of a hectic day to relax with one of their tasty ice creams looking out over the marshes to Wales.

We spent a great day in Ness Gardens a family ticket cost £15.00 which was good value. The gardens are spectacular and my children loved the place, they said this was the best part of the holiday!

This site is a little gem and it’s one we will return to again and again - a definite winner.

This is a lovely site. It is the 2nd time we have visited it. I love the lay out of it as it is well divided up into sections by trees and bushes. There are some pitches which overlook the Dee Estuary. This is a lovely spot, although I should think they would would have to tie down their units in windy weather as it does get very windy on these pitches. The toilet facilities are to a very high standard, but at busy times you do have to wait for showers. The shower cubicles are a bit on the small side.

There is a lovely play area for the children There are plenty of walking areas very close by, shops and other places are further. The nearby villages of Hoylake and West Kirby are very nice and they have plenty of shops.

The only down side was, the road behind where we were pitched had noisy vehicles going down it at top speed and top noise in the early hours of Sat and Sun morning, waking us up each time.

The wardens are friendly and helpful, all in all a lovely site
